OS -|| Too Late? ||
He look at his brother in silence. It had been five minutes since he had gulped the last bit of the burning golden liquid down his throat. Finally he spoke up.
"Rudra, main jitna bhi usse samjne ki koshish kartaa hoon naa utna hi ulajh jaata hoon. Woh paheli ban jaati hai. " he said analysing the refilled glass.
Rudra who was until now lost in his own thoughts now averted his attention to his brother.
"Actually. Paheli wo nahi main hoon! Mere jasbaat hai paheli. Samjh hi nahi aata ki main chaatha kya hoon!" He completed taking in the contents of the glass in one shot.
Rudra dint know what to say. He was himself still heartbroken and angry about Bhavya's words. That lady once did not think about how he would feel when she would say all that. Despite the fact that she knew how emotional he was pertaining to such things. But putting aside his pain he looked up at his brother.
"Baat simple hai O, aap nahi maana chaate ki Chulbul Bhaabhi ne aapke dil mein apne liye jagah bana li hai bina aapki ijaazat ke. Aap abhi darte hai ki aapko phir se chot naa lage Ishq mein."
Omkara who was now looking at the empty glass, smiled and glanced sideways at his brother. "Tu toh badi badi baatein karne laga"
He pause a while his smile not disappearing cause for a fact he knew that Rudra had just spoken the blunt truth. The truth his heart and mind were refusing to accept. And there again started his battle. Because he was always in one with truth but today he wanted to runaway from it while a part of him wanted to do just the reverse. He was torn between his principles and his fear. Now he felt a little what like Shivaay had once told him he felt. He sighed knowing not what to say.
Then glancing at his brother, "Tu samjhdaar hai Rudra, Ab Baata tujhe kya hua!"
Rudra tapped his own glass unsure. Omkara was a little more than slightly drunk, and he probably assumed Rudra was drinking as well. But Rudra had indicated the waiter to give him an apple fizz instead. When he had seen Omkara gulp down his first glass. He thought just in case Om needed a sane support. It was very rare that Om opted for a hard drink and still rare that he gulped it all like a accustomed drinker. So Rudra decided to not take the usual way around and for a change he had no alcohol in the bar where history had evidence of a drunk Rudra.
"Yahi toh problem hai O. Sab mujhe baccha samajte hain. Baccha kabhi bada nahi hota kya O?
Bacha kabhi bada nahi hota ki agar bada ho gaya toh Bacha kaun rahe gaa, Lekin wo koi nahi samajta...bas Baccha Samjte hain!"
Om's expression grew serious while his eyes had started turning drowsy. "Ru...sab theek hai?"
"She doesnt care O. " He said in a painful voice. "She cant see I have something for her. She cant see I care a little more for her. She cant see this is a little more than friendship. She doesnt weigh my emotions right Because I M a Baccha! " He almost screamed. Om patted his shoulder.
"Koi aisa karta hai kya kissi ke saath? Koi kissi ko itna for granted leta hai kya? "
Om looked at him painfully, "Tu ne bhi toh Saumya ke saath ye hi kiya thaa naa?" He stared at nothing in particular remembering the night before Saumya had left. He had seen her sit by the window and cry to herself speaking her pain to the night sky. The feelings similar to what Rudra spoke now. Karma had his ways.
Rudra shot up a glance at Omkara in shock. O kara met his brother's eyes. He knew he was going to inflict pain. He was about to show him the mirror, the truth would be bitter but medicines are always bitter. And only medicine could now kill the disease, the disease would otherwise grow to be deadly.
"What do you mean O?"
" Don't you remember her? What Bhavya did to you today was exactly what you did to Saumya, Rudra! Did you once try to fathom the depth of her feelings for you? Did you ever try to see whether what she had for you was just friendship or something else? Did you once acknowledge the fact that she was always by you through the thick and thin? Always took for granted. "
Rudra who was standing all this while now settled on the stool, lost in his thoughts.
His brother night be drunk. His brain properly dint think the right way. But his heart was toady speaking the truth to him. He looked up at his elder brother, who was now struggling to get off and stand closer to where he sat.
"Rudra, Look ..Main..!" His voice slurred.
"Did she say anything to you before leaving?" he asked looking at him in the eye, knowing he wouldn't lie. Omkara nodded in a NO honestly. I saw what you couldnt, I listened to what you just heard.
Kuch baatein aakhon se ki jaati hai,
Aur kai zubaan se,
Jo hoton pe nahi aata wo aakhon se jhalakta hai,
Aur jo baatein aakhein bhi nahi keh paati naa, wo khamoshiyaan keh jaati hai.
"Chal" He tapped his brother's shoulder.
The two walked down the parking lot in complete silence the atmosphere joining their silent debate.
Once they were in the car being driven back to the Mansion, Rudra finally asked something that Omkara wanted to ask.
"Is it too late?"
"I don't know !" Omkara's voice trailed in all honesty.
"Is it really too late?" whispered Omkara . The two looking at each other as confused as the other.
"It's Never Too Late, My experience.!" Spoke the driver as he turned the car down the drive way smiling. While the two remained lost in their thoughts after listening to that line. Failing to see where it came from.
