Be warned, its a dark, eerie tale !

OS - The Night It Rained

The raindrops were clattering against the roof, the windows, and splashing against the already wet ground. The room was now freezing cold, by just that slightly opened window she had left open. She walked back to the window for the umpteenth time, as she saw the dangerously bright light flash outside in the dark night sky., followed by the most outrageously loud shouts of the sky.

She screwed her eyes shut gripping the wall by the window. Her eyes scared and timid peeped outside, down at the empty flooded road. Just, as lonely as her. She had already lit the candles on the other end of the room fearing a power cut any moment seeing the angry winds cry. The shawl around her did nothing to keep her warm. She rubbed her arms from above the shawl trying to warm herself to no outcome. She shivered as another strong wind gushed in through the almost half opened window. The bungalow secluded from the busy world which made them feel at home now felt eerie.

She stood their looking at the crashing droplets, shivering a little more due to sinister feel than cold. Her eyes awaiting HIS shine and soul HIS warmth. They had moved out to build a world of their own but had ignored the brutal aspects of an isolated Life. She had grown used to the emptiness of the place, his long hours of absence and unusually late arrivals. She of course always showed him how much she dint like it in one way or another not directly though, knowing somewhere down he had other desires too.

She was extremely cold and was now also growing pale, with every minute as the merciless weather grew torturous, but she stood there adamant.

Suddenly a strange darkness engulfed the room as a deadly strong gush of wind blew against another causing the trees to arch to their extremity and the raindrops chaotically scattered in air. She yelped startled fluttering her eyes due to the unaccustomed darkness. The candles had perhaps been blown away by the wind or maybe the time, there was no one to tell.

The door creaked, her eyes widened with fear. Quickly shutting the window she ran downstairs. It was still more - darker, still more - cold, she had left the rear windows of the living room open. Trembling she moved to the window to close it shut. Her hand grabbed the handle outside, the droplets felt warm to her skin. She pulled tightly, alas the window was jammed. She frowned displeased. Abruptly at the very same moment she felt a strange sensation and turned to look behind. Her skin now tingling with goosebumps. She moved a step away from the window only to be pulled back to it. She screamed turning back to the window, shutting her eyes shut with the fear of unknown.

She gulped hard and slowly opened her eyes to see what strong force held her hand. She sighed in relief and fear as she saw her bracelet hooked in the screw of the window's handle. She quickly unhooked it and in hastiness the last moon on her bracelet broke, but she remained unaware and oblivious of the missing moons.

The casual silence with the sounds of the rain and wind was back. But, was now broken by her deep audible breaths. She stood there motionless calming herself, she felt a bizarre tickling sensation on her upper back, the shawl had moved down her frame in her struggle to close the window shut. Her heart thudding she turned her head slightly to look back.

Nothing.

A Weak light filtered through the grime-streaked glass pane, from somewhere unknown. She scanned all around, all seemed in place, the curtain in place, the decorative portrait intact n the wall just as it had always been. She lowered her gaze to the floor to find her forgotten shawl. Quickly picking it up she wrapped it around herself, deciding to move back to the room upstairs. She took slow yet noisy steps, her slipper creaking against the cold floor. She gave a last glance to the door she was sure it was closed as she could make out the huge bolts, locked exactly in place. No sooner had she reached the foot of steps she felt she saw a figure, yes, a figure sitting on the sofa. A bead of sweat ran down the back of her neck and she slowly pivoted herself her hand still on the wooden railing of the staircase.

Her eyes wide open, her heart skipping regular beats, she quickly turned around looking for a weapon for self-defence. Her eyes rested on the long vase on the wall shelf she picked it up not wasting a micro-second. The moment she turned back there was nothing but uniform darkness. Her breathing echoed trying to compete with the rattling of the heavy raindrops.

The vase slipped from her hand and rolled to the floor, making an unusually loud clinking sound. Scared more than ever she ran up the stairs almost stumbling halfway, her shawl sweeping on the floor behind her. Tears rolled down her cheeks, uncontrollably and soft sobs engulfed he room. She sank down on his side of the bed hugging herself.

Minutes passed and she heard the heavy door downstairs whine. Her eyes flickered open and she looked up. Could it be him? Had he returned?

Forgetting everything having only him on her mind just like her heart she sprang up and dashed downstairs like a lunatic, and stopped only when she found his glimpse. She rushed towards him. Her hands flung around him as she hugged him, placing her head close to his chest. She was hugged back.

He smiled gently, no matter what he couldn't stay away from her. After all he had fallen for her irrevocably. He smiles mysteriously and his eyes shone with a new gleam as her scent hit his nostrils pleasantly and he felt her warmth against his cold-frozen heart.

Love was Eternal?

P.S

Yet again! Something is terribly wrong with me, I am writing everything I would perhaps never want to.

Writing this genre for first ever time.

The story can be understood in more than on ways. So I am looking forward to read your take and view on it. Criticism is welcome.😃

Waiting to read your feedback.😳

I am skipping reading most stories because I really want to bring myself in control.
But when it read 'DARK' I wanted to see what sort of dark.
I had decided, if it's something like adulterated or something that brings out heavy emotions, I would skip so I staryed reading. Now it was so intriguing and I was so engrosse, I reached the end... So here I am.

I absolutely loved reading it. Haan yeh alag baat hai ki I won't be able to sleep now 🤣
But I loved it, nevertheless.

It was vry powerful writing, believe me. It kept me hooked. But honestly, I just can't decide whether it was horror or not. Like only Anika's imagination or something really wrong with the guy. Seriously, I can't call him Shivaay because nowhere, absolutely nowhere have you mentioned Shivaay. Not even in the title... And somehow, I refuse to take him as Shivaay 😆

Anika, I can say because of her trademark moon charm but Shivaay.. nope!

I'll see if I can decide on how exactly my brain wants to process this one and let you know 😆

But yeah, it was amazing ❤️

P.S. The last line makes me wonder if he is a ghost? 😕 Makes me feel the chills even thinking about that😆
