A lot of people were startled at the return of our favorite meanie, the original villain who tormented Anika before Pinky took over that job. Sundari Bua, however, signals a return for Harneet, and (PLEASE GOD) for the excellent writing from last year -- before all these unnecessary leaps and stretched episodes.
Sundari Bua, in other words, reminds us WHO ANIKA STILL IS, NOW THAT SHE IS NO LONGER MRS ASSO. Sundari Bua reminds us--Anika is vulnerable, and alone. Sahil's custody is actually in limbo for almost a year now. The fact is legally his custody, school decisions, etc are all upto the guardian, not Anika. So how can Shivaay pay for his school or keep him at OM?
People have argued that this means we are diving into Anika's past, or Ragini will make Anika choose between Sahil and Shivaay--but that makes no logical sense here. Ragini does not get to steal custody of Sahil, he is not a baby, but a tough little boy. All Anika has to do is tell Shivaay about the blackmail and he will finish that pathetic woman off. Logic is needed-- and it looks like Harneet is finally ready to stop letting her cats write her stories--because logic says-- Sundari Bua is going to be used behind the scenes. Not openly challenge the Sherni and her mate.
And about Anika's past? Bua does not know any more about Anika's past than Anika herself. No!Sundari Bua ke zyaada toh ab Shivaay khud Anikaki childhood ki baare me jante hai, na?
So why bring Sundari in now, who's only connection to Anika is Sahil if not for the lose end of Sahil's custody? If they are rebooting the whole track with Anika and Shivaay, that track does not start at the beautifully decorated mandaap he sets up with his own hands. That track starts with BOOM-- the original situation where Anika married Shivaay for Sahil, And now, Shivaay will marry Anika, for Sahil.

It would be AWESOME if Shivika got married so they can fight Sundari Bua as a powerful couple. This is the final, ultimate loop closure--jiske liye Anika married SSO, to save his life, uske liye Shivaay Jiju marries Anika, to save his life. Why am I saying this? because there is one vulnerability of Anika's that her divorce truly leaves out in the open-- her reputation.
Anika does not have Sahil's custody--she has Sahil's HOUSE papers, and those were given to her by Dadi back during first episodes. Shivaay bought the house from Sundari, to break it down and Dadi gave it back to Anika as part payment for wedding planning.
Sundari Bua also used the money to gamble and pay off her loans. Later, she wasn't in a position to challenge Anika when it came to Sahil. Remember, Anika threw her out, especially after she gave Anika over to the goons. Back then, Anika claimed to have spent the night with Shivaay to save him. Sundari came back when Daksh was stalking Anika. She was pretending to be good, because she had cost Anika all her money, and was in terror of being thrown out again.
Anika got money from Shakti/Dadi as a loan for Sahil's expensive boarding school to get him away from Sundari Bua. Post Daksh, Sahil got placed in a good school by Shivaay himself, out of guilt or whatever.

It makes sense, she is his Bua and Anika was not even properly adopted by Sahil's parents and doesn't have Sahil's last name. Anika has tried in the past to get guardianship (lawyer's scene where she pays him, but due to Shivaay's manipulations the lawyer misses the court date).
But now, Ragini and Vikram dont need to do anything more than pay Sundari's legal fees to bring Sahil back and they will win over Anika and Shivaay, both. Shivaay cant use his money/power to stop it. And if Sundari Bua has money to fight Anika, and to claim she is a bad girl, who is sleeping with her ex husband and living with him at OM and all that, she can take Sahil back legally. Anika's relationship with Sahil is not as legally valid as Sundari's is, with Sahil.
Emotions aur love aur kid ka choice legal courts nahi dekhti. Ability to take care of the child, ability to pay for and give a stable home to the child and a proper, respectable environment for the child are considerations.
This is what the outside world/law court will see: Anika is a characterless divorcee, notorious in the media. Remember her "affair" with Shivaay before marriage, and now her failed marriage with Vikram? First was a media wide scandal, now, I guarantee Vikky will give her a bad character certificate acche se. She is now single, with no background/family, living with her ex-husband (in sin), with no income or khandan to help her out.
Sundari can win this, if Shivaay does not fix this double quick. And the only way to fix is, is to marry her, so they can fight this. Welcome back. Sundari Bua! I for one want to see Shivika unite to close a loop, get the brother, and go back to powerful, SANE writing.
