3 Months Later
5:00 AM Shivay's Room
He sat dressed in one of his power suits, his Americano in hand, after his first meeting of day with the Japanese counterparts of Oberoi Industries. This was a very important meeting for the OI. They will be partnering with a Japanese company to build India's biggest shipping port and today's agenda was finance. And he felt nothing, no excitement while discussing the numbers, wheeling and dealing the other parties, the rush of being centre of attention as he shows of his intelligence and smarts, the contentment of having all his ducks in row and hitting the bulls eye by getting exactly what he wanted out of this deal. But nothing. No excitement or rush of victory. Nothing. Just emptiness. And it was all because of her. Yet, here he was in their room because it will never be just his room again, grappling with the pain of losing her. It was becoming more and more difficult to breathe everyday without her. She had become his life and his home. God Damn it where was she?
She took everything of him with her. Shivay Singh Oberoi has become a robot, devoid of any emotions or feelings. He had taken the ultimate risk, the risk of love and lost. Shivay Singh Oberoi who had never failed at anything had failed miserably in love. How could she do that, throw away his emotions back at his face brutally. She knew very well how much they mean to him and yet she did not even think once before saying those vile things to him, his brothers and his mother. He gripped the cup tightly at the thoughts that kept telling him that he was wrong, something or someone made her do this.
After all she had gained nothing from this separation. Their joint bank account remained untouched, she took no jewelry, no cash, asked for nothing in alimony. Two days after his monumental lack of judgement due to heart break, Shivaay being himself analyzed everything she had done and said to him that day. He had come to a conclusion that she was planning to leave him that day, no matter what he would have said and done to placate her, she would have still left. She knew all his buttons and she pushed and pushed until he was over the edge. Love combined with hurt and anger made him loose every rational thought. If he had been thinking like Shivaay Singh Oberoi instead of her billu he would have noticed the plea in her eyes, pain of hear tears and heard her heart break along with his.
He threw her out. She just left and then vanished into thin air. Now, three months later he was still looking for her like a madman. He had hired a private investigator as he did not trust Khanna to not update the other family members. He hated hiding things from his brothers but they were also hiding something from him. He suspected they knew the reason of her bizarre actions. There was no trace of her. Whenever he went see Sahil to check on him at his boarding school all he could tell him was that Annika di Skypes him from a big park which was no help at all. Enraged at the conflicting emotions and heartache he smashed the cup on the floor as he stood up. Why did she not discuss with him what was wrong? He was learning to put her first but old habits die hard. What had made her do something so drastic. Stuffing his hands in his pockets he curled his left hand on her engagement ring that she had left on the dressing table that day, which he now carried with him everywhere.
Above all her was worried out of his mind for her. She must be eating that terrible burnt food. No one to hold her at night when she had her nightmares. How was she coping with all this alone? He had to find her. Even if she refuses to take him back at this point he needed to know that she was safe and healthy. He, the great wall of Shivaay Singh Oberoi was ready to beg once he knew that she was okay, to take him back. He will apologize and do whatever she said to get her back. And if she doesn't want to come back he was ready to go with her this time. Come hell or high water, they will be together again and he will make sure nothing comes between them ever again. "Where are you Annika? He murmured a silent request to the universe to help him. He was not a man looking for his love, in reality Shivaay Singh Oberoi was looking for himself because he was nothing without her.
Tej Singh Oberoi's Study 7:00 AM
"Any updates on Annika, Khanna? Tej Singh Oberoi asked his security chief while going over the minutes of the Japanese Ship Port meeting Shivaay had executed that morning. Shivaay had been working non-stop for last three months just to keep busy and not feel any pain. His nephew was spiralling and he had to do something before this family lost him to guilt and despair. Shivaay held a special spot in his heart. In many ways Shivaay was more his son than Shakti's. Shivaay's drive and intelligence were Oberoi Industries's biggest strength. His nephew, being the eldest son of Oberoi clan had sacrificed a lot for this family. His life until Annika began and ended with his brothers. He has put his dreams and goals aside and joined the Oberoi industries at nineteen so that his brothers would have all the opportunities and time to pursue their dreams and goals. Tej appreciated Shivaay for this and loved his nephew all the more maybe a little bit more than his sons. He knew Jhaanvi completely adored Shivaay. Those two shared a bond that made rest of the family members envious. Jhaanvi had the pleasure of knowing how the mind of Shivaay Singh Oberoi
He clearly remembered those days when Shivaay went to Harvard to get his degree. He managed studies along with Oberoi Industries American interests. His nephew had always set very high standards for himself and maintained them beautifully. Then Annika happened and he witnessed The Great Wall of Shivaay Singh Oberoi become a red blooded man. She was everything he wasn't and being that she completed his nephew. Even though the girl came from no lineage he, Tej Oberoi had grown fond of her. Her inestimable humour, tenacity and ability for forgive were somethings that Oberoi's could use in their coming generations. He admired that she had achieved everything in her life by her own hard work and shrewdness. Only if his would have come to him when she had told them about Pinky's lies this whole situation could have been avoided.
Shivaay was not illegitimate. The day Shivaay was born there had been a mix up and the had wrongfully tagged baby Shivaay and to make sure that the baby was an Oberoi and not another scheme of their enemies there was a DNA test conducted. Shivaay was both Pinky and Shakti's son. There was no doubt about it. Pinky had just lied to get Annika out of the house. Tej will deal with her when the time was right but right now his priority was finding Annika. Because with out Annika The Great Wall of Shivaay Singh Oberoi will be nothing but meaningless dust.
"No Sir, Even Shivaay Sir's private investigator does not have any promising leads, Khanna replied and then hesitated go on which did not go unnoticed by his employer.
"Out with it Khanna, Tej said.
"Sir, it is just a theory and I have no way to prove it. Khanna answered.
"At this point Khanna I will take a figment of your imagination , Tej replied. Khanna then narrated his suspicions to his boss. And the head of Oberoi family and the head of Oberoi security made an unbeatable plan to bring back Annika in Shivaay's life.
Dining Hall, Oberoi Mansion 7:45 AM
The dining room morning hustle came to a shocked stall when Shivaay walked in. It was first time in three months that Shivaay had joined the whole family for a meal.
"Is Bade Papa not here yet? Shivaay asked not bothering to sit.
"Shivaay, sit have some breakfast beta, Pinky started cheerfully but Shivaay cut her off.
"I am not here to have breakfast, he snapped, "Bade Papa had an urgent announcement to make and he called me here. I will leave as soon as he is done.
Just then Tej walked into the room, taking his seat as the head of the family he began his breakfast. "Sit Shivaay, at least have a cup of coffee since that is what you run on these days, Tej said, disapproval clear in his voice. When Shivaay made no move to sit Tej arched him with a look, "Sit Shivaay, I won't start until you do, and then you will be late for your meeting.
Sighing Shivaay sat across the table opposite to his Bade Papa. What has gotten into his uncle today? He wondered. Tej Singh Oberoi was not a man of theatrics. Something must be really important. He held up a hand when Pinky came to serve him some toast, "Thank you Mom, but I am not here for breakfast, Shivaay said aiming a look at his uncle. When Pinky started to take the chair on his right he stopped her, "That is Annika's place Ma, your seat is next to dad. A shocked Pinky went to sit beside her husband cursing Annika mentally for bewitching her son.
Tej smiled at his nephew's antics and began, " I want everyone to clear their schedules for two weeks starting tomorrow. We are all and I mean all, Tej emphasized looking at Shivaay, " are going to Raigarh to attend the wedding of Princess of Raigarh. I know it is very last minute but the Queen of Raigarh has called herself this morning and insisted the whole family comes and I promised that we will all attend.
"Bade Papa, I can't just cancel all my appointments. I have the Japanese merger to finalize and I am flying out to Spain day after tomorrow to hash out the details of wineries we are buying. Then I am off to Paris to deal with bugs in the new fashion line we are launching. It is impossible for me to make time. Please apologize on my behalf to the Queen, Shivaay declared and rose to leave. He had absolutely no interest in attending a wedding. All the happy faces mocking him and rubbing salt on his wounds. He just wanted to drown his sorrows in work.
"I thought nothing was impossible for Shivaay Singh Oberoi. Are you saying that you can't juggle a few balls in the air to not make me a lair. Tej inquired.
Anything to keep the Oberoi word, " I will be there. Shivaay said as he left the room.
"Well played Mr Oberoi, Omkara said to his father. "What are you trying to accomplish by pushing Shivaay this way?
"Thank you son, Tej replied, "I am trying to accomplish nothing here, Annika is gone and I think its time that Shivaay stopped wallowing in pain and moves on from her. Tej said. He was not going to show his cards to anyone at this point. Not even his sons.
