I loved this update, where all the guards went down. Am so delighted. The choral gangs kinare waala was awesome. And then they danced his way, god, I so wanna be Annika, but that's not possible, had it been possible, every other girl would've been Annika😆. And the way you described the background, everything felt so magical! Ans , when in the last they slept in each other's embrace, man, you really are making my dreams come true. And the part which I liked the most was, "Shivaay bhaiya aur unka kal aaj aur kal"😆 love it. And afterwards the story was no less magical! And billu-billi are gonna work together🥳. God, I loved this update😊 I don't know why but I want the others to know what happened, unknown to Shivika that the others know. U see, Shivika nahi jaante ki Baaki sabb jaante gain, lekin Baaki sab jaante hain ki Shivika nahi jaante! 😆. Oh how fantastic it would be to see the team working on mission Shivika. (But I don't want Tia to see the video). But yeah, its up to you as to how you beautify this story (it already is;)), as I've seen that even others are requesting different things and it would be hard for you to change your concept. Feel free to throw this idea in the dustbin.😊 Anyways do update soon. Loved it. Thank u,

Chapter 29: Bitter sweet recollections

"This is a bad idea! I knew it!" Snapped Shivay at a rather irritated Anika. "Well thats not how you sounded, when you heard it first!" Retorted Anika. "Listen," began Shivay, "hush now!" Warned Anika and pulled him a little to ensure they were properly concealed by the pillar.

After they discovered that Rudy had unknowingly recorder the party from last night, Shivay and Anika for the very first time, decided to work together to retrieve Rudy's phone. They were both embarrassed at what they had done, but it was hard for Shivay to deny that every time he caught Anika blushing recollecting the night before, his heart did a small happy dance. But, it was indeed necessary that no one saw their antics. After all it was a private moment, according to Shivay and according to Anika it was "Right to Privacy, and so in the name of Law and everything else that is fair they plotted to delete the recording from Rudy's phone. However, the youngest Oberoi was quite the buffoon. In his excitement at recording the party, while Rudy announced that such a recording existed and got everyone excited about it, he forgot to mention one tiny detail. In his drunken stupor he forgot where he left his phone! Ah! Rudy!. So while Shivay faked indifference and Anika feigned a headache in order to look for the phone, they were now joined by the overly enthusiastic members and staff of the Oberoi household to look for the same.

Trapped, Shivay and Anika tried several tactics at diversion, but failed and now took to blaming each other. An attempt to fool others into believing that they were not on this together found them hiding behind a pillar and blaming each other.

"Billuji seriously, you will get us caught! Cant you stay put?" Demanded Anika. "Listen, if you didn't do your pathetic Hindi film routine of getting dizzy, we would have found the phone long ago!" Said Shivay. "Really??pray tell how?" Demanded Anika. But before he could answer they heard Rudy declare, "I remember now! Sumo and I kept walking and stumbled into the patio near O's studio! My phone must be there!"

"Oh well! Come on Billuji, let us go there!" Said Anika. "No!Stop!" Said Shivay. "Billuji, did you not hear Rudy?" Asked an incredulous Anika. "Honestly Anika, don't you use your brain?" Demanded Shivay in turn. "Chup!" He said as Anika began to speak, "His phone would have long been drained off its battery by now. We need to plan ahead now, if anything go help him look for his phone, ensure that he finds it and then come meet me in my room!" He said and walked away to his room.

Dumbfounded and unable to argue against the drained battery, Anika proceeded to just as instructed.

"Rudy you idiot! here is your phone." Said Jahnvi handing him his phone and a smack on the head for good measure. "Aww ma! You are the best! You can find most everything!" Said Rudy hugging Jahnvi. "Now, lets us see!, oh! Haha! Umm, my phone discharged. No worries, I will go get the charger, why don't you guys wait for me by the screen room. I will be back in a seconds." Said Rudy as she dashed away to get his phone charger.

"Oh Rudy, where are you off to?" Asked Anika as she intercepted him on his way to Shivay's room. "Anika didi, I found my phone, but need my charger, so I am heading to Shivay bhaiya's room." Said Rudy. "Great! Why don't I come with you?" Said Anika and walked with Rudy, praying all along that Billuji had some sensible plan up his sleeve. Anika and Rudy walked in on Shivay rapidly conversing with someone in a foreign language. Fascinated by the way the conversation sounded Anika asked "Wow Billuji knows how to speak Chinese?." Shrugging casually Rudy said, "Yeah one of Bhaiya's several traits, Didi look for my charger please!,.. oh wait! found it!." Just then Shivay hung up, "Whats up Rudy?" He asked. "Bhaiya look, I found my charger!" Said Rudy waving the said charger in front of Shivay's face, "Come now let us go watch the recording from last night!" He added. "Well I think Anika should stay where she is, I mean some one who can't tell that I was speaking Mandarin and that there is no language called Chinese may wonder how video is transmitting from your phone to the TV screen." Said Shivay. "Billuji, what do you mean?Do I look that dumb?" Started Anika, "Guys!! god! You call me dumb, but do you know how stupid this argument sounds? Get over it and come follow me!" said Rudy as he left the room shaking his head. Anika was about to follow Rudy when Shivay tugged on her arm and gestured with his fingers to keep quiet even before she could speak. "Shh! I am trying to get him out of here" he said. "Oh!" Said Anika, "So you really don't think I am dumb right?" She said catching on. "That you are, but listen to me. The moment Rudy's phone is turned on and cellular signals are active, his phone will freeze for a couple of minutes. In this time, the latest recording on his phone will be replaced by another video. Its done and taken care of!" He ended. "Oh wow Billuji! But how do you know that this is going to work?" Asked Anika. "Here, look I have the original recording." Said Shivay now waving his phone in her face.

"Oh wow!well turn it off and delete it. Lets go catch up with Rudy" she added hurriedly and made her way out.

Anika could not risk watching the video with Shivay. Slowly, she recollected most of every single silly thing she did and said to him. It mortified her to think that he now knew she contemplated about the color of his eyes. Even if he could brush past that, what would he think of her?sleeping in his arms, snuggling into him like as though he was a blanket. The very recollection of the act made her blush and gave her the michmichis. She did not want him to think of her as someone who would lie in bed with anyone. "God!" She thought, "He already has a lowly opinion about me!" Said her brain making her heart ache a little. "Ah!well she thought brushing the thoughts aside, with yet another reassuring shrug she followed Rudy into the screen room.

Shivay waited back in his room. If his calculations were right, then within the next 15 minutes he would hear peals of laughter from the viewing room. He had a few associates in China replace the original video of the party's with a random video of Rudy's. Grinning he sat back to watch the original video. He could feel the muscles in his face strain as the smile spread with every passing second. "God Anika!" He thought, "What a character!" Now with a hint of endearment. "Maybe there is something to her that warrants thought" he mused. As he watched her sway in her arms and place her head on his shoulder, something warmed in him. It was in Shivay's core nature to protect the ones near and dear to him, and it was a challenge to qualify as near and dear to him. Yet, here was one gypsy woman with no "Naam, Khoon or Khaandan" whittling her way into his heart subconsciously. Anika polarized his heart and mind into repelling directions and cause him immense joy and frustration. Just as this realization began to annoy him, a visual of her snuggling into his arms warmed the cockles of his heart.

In this pensive mood was Shivay, when Mallika walked in on him. "Shivay, did you see what just happened?" She began, "Hmm" he said hurriedly deleting the video in panic and then cursing himself silently. "What happened?" She asked. "Oh Nothing, business stuff. You were saying?" Asked Shivay. "Oh Ok! Yeah so, Rudy and his video. He promised a video of the party, but it was a video of him doing push up amid scantily clad female gym buddies. Anyway, I am here to say that Anika and I will be heading home after lunch. Will you join us for lunch?" She asked.

The thought of Anika leaving affected him more than he liked it to. Nodding in agreement, he followed Mallika out and into the dinning hall.

"Billu, Anika puttar, did you guys fight again?" Asked Kalyani over the dinning table. All throughout lunch she noticed that Anika was uncharacteristically quiet, while Shivay kept looking at her and then was getting irritated with himself. He actually criticized his own recipes for a change! And not for once did Anika comment on the angreziness of her desi khaana.

"No dadi!" Said both in unison. "Then what is the matter, you both seem off!" She said. "Oh dadi, let me explain" began Rudy, "Shivay bhaiya was making a big deal about Anika didi not knowing Mandarin." he said. "Billu you want Anika beti to speak chini?" Asked a rather bemused Kalyani. "Shivay what is this requirements?" Asked a rather surprised Pinky. "No, No, Rudy you idiot. You have it wrong. It has nothing to do with Anika. Why will I care about her?I have more important things to think about" declared Shivay.

Anika was embarrassed with herself over what had happened, and now Shivay's casual dismissal pained her even more. Ever in control Anika, felt helpless and an overwhelming urge to cry took over. Unable to control these thoughts, Anika did not realize when she began to weep silently. "Come on now Anika, let Shivay be" soothed Jahnvi noticing a steady stream of tears. "I never got around to say what a marvelous job you did with our charity and I will miss working with you henceforth." she added now rising up to hug Anika. "Yes Childs!" Added Pinky now coming over to sooth Anika and wrapping herself around Anika. "You made a difference for me and my Mahi." "Bhaiya!" Said Rudy silently accusing Shivay and walking over to hug Anika. "What? I swear I did not make her cry!" said Shivay defending himself. "Yeah, it is nothing" said Anika in between sobs, "I am just being silly. Missing Sahil. Plus its first day at my new work place tomorrow. I think it just got to me." She added. Returning every single hug, she turned towards Kalyani Anika said "Dadi, if you will excuse me, I want to go home. Sahil will be back in about two hours and then I want to get ready for tomorrow ." Kalyani sensed something amiss in both Shivay and Anika, but went along with Anika's excuse and said "Sure beta. But before you go, we have some presents for you for your big day tomorrow. You can't say no." She said hugging Anika as well. "Great. Anika, get your things and I will drop you and then head home myself" said Mallika.

"Mallika beta, didn't you have to take Saumya some place? Billu can drop Anika, you should keep your appointment with Saumya." said Kalyani. Exchanging confused looks, but catching on both Saumya and Mallika nodded with a "Yes Dadi."

"Why was she crying?" This was all Shivay could think about as he waited for Anika. Rounds of hugs followed by kisses, and presents and more hugs and tears were taking place as Anika said her good byes. It annoyed him to realize that Anika would now no longer spend evenings at OM. She had a job, God alone knew what that was! And would now spend lesser time with them. "Good!" Thought his brain. Yet he was annoyed. He would soon have to figure out where she would be working, but before that he hoped the waterworks stopped.

Anika silently followed him to where his car was waiting. "Billuji, just ask your driver to drop me, you don't have to come." she said. "Why?so that all of them turn on me again?" He asked. "Just, get in. I will drop you home," he said as he slid into the driver's seat of the very Bentley whose windshield Anika had smashed. "Do you want directions?" She asked as she sat beside him. "No" came a curt reply.

There was an uncomfortable silence in the car. Anika was annoyed with herself and Shivay was stumped by her uncharacteristic silence. They were halfway home, when Anika resolved to speak and said "Billuji, I just wanted to say that I had a lot of fun working with Jahnvi aunty and getting to know your family. God has indeed been very kind to you. I will remember all of you for years to follow." "God!" Thought Shivay, "Was this going to be a good bye?". "Anika, I" he began, but was interrupted, "Oh and I am not sweet talking you into giving me a reference or something like that. I am pretty well set in my new work place. These are genuine feelings for your family that I wanted to express to you" said Anika. Caught off guard, the usually prepared Shivay did not know how to respond and so merely nodded.

The rest of the ride ensued in painful silence. "Stop here!" said Anika, at the opening of the lane to her house. "Why?" Asked Shivay. "Well, your car can't squeeze in and more over people will lose their heads if they see this vehicle. We can't go together beyond this point. she said. Shivay stopped and pulled over. As Anika was getting out, instinctively he laid an arm on her wrist and said "Let me walk you home." "No Mr Oberoi, this neighborhood is not safe for your car. I will walk home on my own." Said Anika. She had to walk away on her own, she would break and fall apart if he came along with her and she didn't want that to happen. "But," began Shivay. "Trust me!" She said looking straight into his eyes. And so, Shivay let her ago. As she walked away from him, his heart pained in a strange new way. Every step that she took away from him, rage took over him. "Happy now?" His heart asked his brain. "Its over now, isn't it?" It added.

The stars above smiled. "Oh, it just got started!" Laughed fate and destiny.
