Shivaay tried hard to look away. He really did. He didn't want to notice how gorgeous she looked in that long, red gown that fitted her curvy self so well. He didn't want to feel like stomping over to her table and beat that stupid fiance of hers into a bloody pulp. Instead, he wanted to be able to focus on his own date sitting in front of him, demanding his attention. He really did.
But hearts were stubborn things, Shivaay realized. They never listened to you and worked at their own will. They stopped beating when your wife hurt you and left, and started beating faster when she came back again. All according to their own pace, with no control of the person they were meant to serve.
Stupid, stubborn hearts.
With much reluctance, Shivaay dragged his eyes away from Annika who was sitting two tables away and looked at Ragini. Ragini seemed pissed off. So she wasn't stupid, and had realized that Shivaay had only asked her to dinner so that he could follow Annika to this place. Well, who cared. As long as Shivaay had Annika within his eyesight and made sure that no man dared to get too close her, he didn't give a flying f**k what anyone else thought of him.
Suddenly, the sound of laughter, like the tinkling of charming, pretty bells, reached his ears. He looked towards her table once again to find her head thrown back and face lit up brightly in mirth. He also noticed that a few other people in the restaurant had turned to look at her and were now staring at this beautiful woman in awe. Shivaay could have killed every single one of them and walked over their corpses nonchalantly. These people, they didn't know anything. They didn't know that the woman there, belonged to him, as he belonged to her. They didn't know that the seat opposite to hers was rightfully his. They didn't know that the Great Shivaay Singh Oberoi would give anything to be there again.
Sighing, he turned to Ragini again, to find her fidgeting impatiently with her purse.
"Shivaay, how about we go to another restaurant?" She said suddenly, startling him.
"Why would we go to another restaurant? This one's perfectly fine." He replied decidedly.
"Yeah, but don't you think it's too crowded?" Then, placing a hand over his on the table and adding in what she aimed for to be a seductive tone, she said, "I want to spend some time with you alone, you know..."
Shivaay not-so-subtly removed his hand from under hers and off the table. Taking a sip from his wine glass and moving his eyesight to a far more interesting view, he said in a haughty tone-
"You can go to a different restaurant if you want to, Ragini. Don't hesitate to send the bill to me."
Ragini widened her eyes at that. She had never felt more insulted in her life before, until what Shivaay said next beat that-
"And as for spending time with me alone, only one woman in the world has the right to do that."
Saying so, he got up from his chair, fixed his suit, and walked towards the seat where his stupid, stubborn heart lay.
