Standing at the edge of the cliff Anika stared at the scenery in front of her. The night appeared to be of the darkest shade of black illuminated not by the usually twinkling stars but by the lights that made the city Mumbai look brighter. She's been coming here from he past 17 years. Every time when she thought that she would break she used to come here to relieve herself of the pressure and burden inflicted upon her.
Each time she came, every time this scenery made her calm, the sparkling lights gave her the courage that not matter how dark the sky is, no matter if there is no star adding serene twinkle to it, there will be these city lights that will always brighten the dark night. The light that will eradicate the darkness. But today not even this could help remove the darkness that clouded her.
She laughed and cried, both the emotions contradicting and so overwhelming that she collapsed onto her knees and let out a heart wrenching shriek. Why? Why it always happens with her? Whenever she tried to grasp at some happiness the only thing that she could get was sadness, abandonment. First her parents left her, then her sister, and when she found hope in form of Sahil's parents they too died in a car accident. For years little Sahil had been her support until came into her life Shivaay Singh Oberoi.
She tried hard, she tried very hard to resist the temptation of falling in love with him. She told herself that he didn't deserve her, that he was just another rich spoilt brat who knows only the language of money and power, who believes only in lineage, with whom she Miss-no-name-Anika whom she couldn't dream of having a future. But still she had fallen and fallen so hard that now Shivaay Singh Oberoi didn't just have a place in her heart, he's her soul, he flows inside her like blood, beats inside her like heart, he's her breath, he's everything.
But the fate was so cruel. When he hadn't accepted her it was as if everything in this world would bring them closer, the more she tried to go far for him the more he would pull her back until she'll fall in his arms. But when he accepted her, accepted Anika who had no name, money, power or lineage, when she thought that finally she was getting the happiness she deserved she was once again struck by the cruel nature of fate.
She had to leave him, leave him for hos own good. For the man to whom his name and lineage was the most important thing how could she snatch that from the man she loves so deeply, irrevocably and desperately that it unhinges her soul. She had to hurt him, she had to hurt that man who's the most important person in her life. She never believed in God but she believed in him and then she had to hurt him, break his heart to numerous pieces that reflected nothing but her own broken self.
She wiped the tears off her face trying to control her emotions for the only happiness that's left in her life, her little brother Sahil. Soon she will leave this city, she will go far away to a place where Shivaay's memories won't haunt her. Nothing could break her till now and she won't let this situation break her as well. She has to live, has to smile and hide the pain somewhere in her heart, lock it and throw away the key somewhere even she won't be able to find.
