The sun rose too soon, and along with it, the harsh reality of that her three days was up. She was grateful when Shivaay had to leave for an urgent last minute meeting that Mishra called and informed him about.
She could carry out her plan without things turning ugly. She didn't want anyone stopping her, but her luck ran out when she was almost out of the door.
"Anika bhabi The soft call stopped her in her tracks. "Are you going somewhere? A loud gasp. "You're not leaving the because of last ni--"
"No! She interrupted as she turned quickly to look at her youngest brother-in-law who was looking her with wide eyes. "No Rudra. Actually I just need some time to myself. A small outing Not a lie.
He nodded slowly, as if unsure whether to believe her or not. "Ok"
She waited until he left and then she turned and walked out of the house that she had once hoped she would call home.
She couldn't do anything about Pinky hating her, not now when that hate had grown so deep, but she could get the hell away from Shivaay and keep his family intact..
If she wasn't here anymore then Shivaay wouldn't have to be in a constant battle with himself or his family. And she wouldn't have to constantly be worried about the ticking time bomb that his mother had attached to their relationship.
In spite of the practical, positive nature of her thoughts, her heart was a lump of stone, terror crawling into every corner of her mind.
She was leaving him. The man she loved.
But there was no escaping the cold, hard truth that there would come a time when her Pinky Aunty would carry out her threat if Anika didn't leave.
And that was one think Anika didn't want happening.
Because he himself said that nothing is more important to him than his family. His Family, His Lineage, Bloodline - for him, it was his biggest truth, his biggest strength.
Yet it was his biggest weakness too. He'd said that much to Omkara.
It wasn't right of her take away his pride respect just so they could be together. So she would leave. And he'd be safe from breaking.
Anika couldn't let the Great Wall Of Shivaay break, because once he broke, the rest of the family would too. Because once the walls of a house breaks, everything else does.
He doesn't love me, she thought, maybe if he lov-
Pain roared through her chest, but for the first time, the idea of never having that beautiful connection with Shivaay didn't tear her heart in two, but saved it.
If he had been in love with her then leaving him would have scarred her heart and soul.
"Thank you, she whispered to whatever unknown God or Goddess that had decided she didn't deserve his love.
Shivaay would be fine once Anika was gone. Omkara and Rudra would be there to take his mind off her. And she had made sure he had enough hate in his heart for her that he wouldn't be disturbed by her leaving.
She would fight heaven and earth to keep him safe.
Even though the odds appeared impossible, she'd never been the giving-up type. She'd fight to the bloody, bitter end. But this was Shivaay and she never could put up a fight against him.
Nor did she want to fight with him about his mother.
Seeing Sahil was out of the question, no matter how much it hurt Anika not to go to him, he'd know, and she couldn't afford for him to stop her.
Her sweet, gentle baby brother, a boy who'd played the roll of an elder brother for most of his life, has already been in danger because of her. She wouldn't give Pinky Aunty more leverage.
Shivaay would protect him, she thought, fighting back tears because they had no place here, in the most crucial battle of her life.
Shivaay would lay down his life for Sahil
So would Omkara, Rudra, Gauri, Dadi, Khanna- so many people loved him. And she could phone him later when she was settled down, make sure he wasn't afraid, that he knew she loved him.
Anika's eyes glanced off the phone she had just discreetly thrown into the garden, she couldn't take it with her because she knew it contained a tracking chip.
She wouldn't be able to contact Shivaay once she left, wouldn't be able to tel him the secrets of her heart. But he'd know- how could he possibly not know how much he meant to her?
It's better if he doesn't, her heart whispered and she had to blink tears back.
The physical act of leaving the Oberoi property was easy. No one had any reason to stop her. Then she hailed a taxi and got in. "Train Station, please"
Shivaay might still be able to track her, but she had a head start and there was a chance that she had fuelled his hate just enough so that he wouldn't bother.
She would not take away everything Shivaay lived for.

Shivaay was speaking to Omkara about the enquiry he was going to do at the Orphanage because he still wanted to get to the bottom of the Nayantara drama, when Sahil ran up to them, the sound his crutches sounding like firecrackers.
The boy was normally so well behaved that the instant he grabbed Shivaay's hand and tugged, he had both men's immediate and total attention.
"Anika didi Sahil sucked in a breath, his face red, his chest heaving.
Shivaay's went predator-quiet. "Where is she, Sahil?
"I don't know. I saw her throw her phone in the garden and then she got into a taxi" The little boys voice trembled, a sheen of wet on innocent eyes.
Shivaay took Sahil's face in between his palms, captured the boy's distraught gaze with his own. "You did the right thing coming to me. I'll find her.
Always. She was his.
Sahil gave a jerky nod. "You have to go now. I think she's running away.
No way in hell. "Omkara.
"I've got him. Omkara put his hand on top of Sahil's head.
"Go Both man and boy said.
Shivaay left, fury beating in every pulse of his blood. Did she really think he'd let her go? That he'd lie down and accept the fact that she'd cut and run?
If she had, she was going to get a nasty surprise when he caught up to her. Because Shivaay was feeling al kinds of mean. A single command and he had the details of the taxi and the driver.
Anger had him throwing the phone, Khanna had retrieved from the garden, back to the ground, but worse was the jagged sense of betrayal. How dare she do this? How dare she think to leave him in this way?
They were going to have the mother of all fights when he caught up to her. Which he would do, very, very soon. Anika was smart, but he was Shivaay Singh Oberoi.
"Here's where he dropped her off" Khanna held out a slip of paper. "Let me drive, Sir"
"No" Shivaay took the paper and got into the car. "I need you to get me what I asked for. Email it to me as soon as you get it"
In minutes he was out of the garage and driving through the Mumbai traffic with a speed that was going to earn him more than a few traffic fines.
