the logistics of the consummation
So yes, Shivaay gives Annika lingerie in tomorrow's episode, and the room is set up for a consummation - candles, roses and champagne, at the ready. She looked absolutely gorgeous in the black silk number, and almost laughably terrible with the flowery (relatively modest for lingerie, if you think about it) baby doll that's ironically bourgeois and so not what I imagined the King of Class to give his wife, for their first night. Then again, Billu Ji never fails to surprise us, right?
Personally, I find the set-up kind of crass, but it is quite reminiscent of the traditional suhaag raat, if not modernised. I feel like a couple's first time should be more natural, but I guess that is just a reflection on Indian traditionalism, over the writing on the show.
I really, really doubt they will consummate. For one, there seems to be absolutely no afterglow seen in any of the segments that show whats happening after tomorrow's episode they look like they're back to terribly designed clothing and drastically dramatic family gatherings, yet again. And more than anything it just appears to be a TRP garnering, tempting precap that will materialize into some cute comedy. As much as I would love for Shivaay to pull of the weird pink thing, and finally get racy with his tempting wife there's a 98% chance that it won't happen. At best, he'll kiss her [or at least, there will be an implication of the same], before Annika will run away, Pinky will interrupt them, or there will be a new family drama that will beg their attention first.
Anyhow, the main point of this post is to ask why people have so many issues with sex, before the confession. I, honestly, think that that is the course a more free-thinking relationship will take, but I could be the only one. Love-making is incredibly intimate, and I only think that it will strengthen their relationship. Saying that, the time itself (right after he raged at her like that, like come on) may not be the best and if she stops him tomorrow, because of that very reason, I will completely understand it.
Second question; where the heck did the idea of the consummation really get taken on board? Like if they were following the main course of the repeated marriage rituals, then why is the suhaag raat coming before the sangeet? That, for me, kind of kills the prospect of it being Daadi, Jhanvi or Bua Ma's plan to get them to screw but anything's plausible.
And I highly, highly doubt that it's Omkara and Gauri's doing. Maybe if they were already in love, and were terrible influences on each other I can still see that. But not cultured and compassionate Gauri, and stoic, resentful Omkara they are more the type for gentle reconciliation, like that cute pool set up, but not a suhaag raat ploy. God, these two ran away and gave their brother and sister-in-law space, when they were having a heated discussion in the pool. I cannot see them dong something like that and definitely not together.
In fact, the only person in the family that would have the balls, and the unabashedness to do something like this, at this point in time, is Rudra. But he's in Meerut, holding a sobbing girl's hand, (who also happens to be a pseudo-superwoman, ACP), while Ankhon ki Gustakhiyaan plays in the background.
So, by process of elimination, are we supposed to assume that Shivaay is the one who has set up his own suhaag raat? The champagne sounds like a very distinctively Shivaay thing to do but also, really? We know that he's a hot-blooded male, who obviously wants to screw his wife, but what really triggers him to set it into motion in the twenty minutes of tomorrow's episode? I have been racking my brain for so long, but I see absolutely no logic in any of these theories.
Help me out, you guys? Whose idea is the suhaag raat, will it actually happen, and how the hell can we get GK to fire Shivani Shirali for putting that ghastly flowery baby doll on our TV screens?
