Chapter Three

"Anika bhabi, your friend has sent her driver to pick you up" Rudra walked in just as Anika was putting the last of her clothes in her bag. "Why do you have to go bhabi? You won't be gone for long right? Just until your friend's wedding is over? And why do you have to go to stay? I can drop you off and pick you up everyday if you want to be there with her, you don't have to go stay there" Rudra told Anika, his eyes showing how much he was troubled by her going away. He didn't want her to go. She was his bhaiya's angel, and if she wasn't here, bad things would happen. Even if she was going for a few days, he didn't like it. Why do I feel like I'm not going to see you again bhabi? Rudra, shut up, it's just your imagination. Stop being stupid.
"Arre baba, nothing bad will happen, your superman is there. He's Shivaay Singh Oberoi, nothing can happen to him" Anika told him, avoiding his questions. It was hard for her to do this, but she needed to do it. She had gotten too used to everyone, especially OmRu, Saumya and Dadi. Out of sight, out of mind Anika, be strong. This is to protect Sahil, you cannot stay in a house where your bhai is insulted.
She was pulled out of her musings by Sahil's voice "Anika Didi, we have to go. Remember?" He rolled his eyes at her for getting lost in her thoughts. "Huh? Yes, Come let's go, come Sahil, Rudra" She called them both as she walked out of the room. Rudra stopped on the way downstairs and told one of the helpers to please put the bags from Sahil's room into the car waiting outside and that he was to do this without anyone seeing. Anika also thanked the helper and then continued walking with Sahil and Rudra in tow.
"You both are very quite? What's the matter?" She asked over her shoulder after noticing that both her firecrackers were abnormally quite. And all she got was Rudra saying "I feel like something bad is going to happen". She stopped walking at that and turned to him, giving him a quick hug and whispering a "I'm sorry, but I need to do this" before quickly letting go of bewildered Rudra and even more shocked Sahil and proceeded towards the stairs quickly. Her phone rang just as she reached the top of the stairs, she stopped and answered "Hello...Yes, I'm just leaving now...Outside, ok, yes. Now". She hung up and started down the stairs.
Good there's no one here, Sahil and I can leave peacefully, and there'll be no need for goodbyes. But just as she stepped off the last stair, she saw Tia walk into the hall and sit on one of the plush sofas. Smiling she went up to Tia, sat down next to her, leaned in and said in a voice so cold, that had Tia not been dressed up in a coat, she would have definitely gotten frost bite "You slapped my bhai, you accused him of something he didn't do. You made him cry. That day I didn't say anything, but today, today I'm going to phailao' so much of raita, that sametni sametni, you'll end up wishing the Universe would just kill you. All the reiki in the world can't help you now Miss Tia Kapoor. And your husband isn't here to save you either, and please don't misunderstand, I'm not talking about Shivaay baby, I'm talking about your actual husband. Tssk Tssk, the Universe is not going to be happy with you, you've done a lot of negative things Tia" and Anika had the pleasure of seeing Tia slightly paling. Well this was all worth it. Definitely worth it.
"What new drama is this Anika? Were all the insults not enough for you? Get away from me before I show you your rightful place. Soon Anika, soon I will get you thrown out of here and you'll be back on the streets where you belong. Thrash doesn't stay inside a house for long, it gets thrown out. Remember that Anika" Tia spat out, but her voice was laced with a slight tinge of uncertainty.
"I don't feel sorry for whatever is going to come your way Tia, but I do feel sorry for your unborn baby. You should be aware of how karma works right? If only you had thought of your child. Anyway I wish I could stay and chat with you some more but I have places to be" Anika told her, ignoring the nonsense Tia had just said. Anika had gotten so used to hearing Tia's taunts and insults that now it didn't even register in her brain, it just went completely over her head.
Tia hadn't moved a bit nor had she said anything to Anika, she had frozen in her seat. Fear. I love that look in her eye. It becomes of her. C'mon Anika, there's no looking back, let's go. This is for Sahil, remember! Just then, Sahil came over to Anika, with Rudra standing at the bottom of the steps looking from Anika to Tia and back again, confusion and curiosity evident on his face. But Anika just turned to Sahil and said "Go wait in the car for me, please, I'll be out in a bit" and got the response she wanted. Sahil nodded at her, waved at Rudra and walked out. Anika gestured towards Rudra asking him to come closer.
"Do me one more favour please" Anika told him as soon as he was close enough to her. "Ofcoz bhabi, you don't have to ask, just order me" He replied in his usual Rudy cuteness. "Make sure Tia doesn't leave OM for the next few hours ok?" Anika requested, making sure he heard the seriousness in her voice. "Ok Bhabi, but why?" Rudra asked her. He knew his bhabi spoke of the weirdest things, but what she asked him to do now had got his Agent Rudy senses tingling. "Please, for me. But don't let anyone know what you're doing, alright" She told, urgency in her voice and sighed when she saw him nod.
"Don't worry, I'll do as you say" Rudra said while doing his why fear when Rudra is here' gesture. Anika smiled at him, hugged him again and did as Sahil did a while ago; she walked out of OM after giving Rudra a wave. She hurried out only to bump into the person she now owed so many favours to. "Ufff" Anika let out as she collided with him, losing her balance but he quickly steadied her by holding onto her shoulder.
"Careful Anika, you need to be careful" He told her after he let go and bent to pick the file he dropped when they collided. He picked the file up, dusted it, reached into his pocket and pull out an envelope. "Sorry, I just need to leave as soon as possible" Anika told him while reaching out to take the envelope he was holding out to her. She looked around and was thankful that no one was witnessing this exchange.
"This has what you wanted luckily they granted me authorisation, the rest is in the car and this here is for Him. You sure you don't want to know the rest? You'd be surprised at what it is" He told her, tucking the file he had dusted under his arm. "Everything has been arranged with your friend? And you'll be coming back after all this is done right?" He continued, he had a nagging feeling that there was more to all of this and that scared him. He saw her fidget with her fingers and then reach into her handbag and pull out a small gift wrapped box.
She held out the box to him and said "Yes, I'll be with her for a few days. And no, I'm tired of seeing what this Pandora Box of a house spits out. And anyway, I'll be seeing it soon. Give this to him when he asks for me, it'll explain my absence from the house. And ONLY when he asks for me ok? And this is for Dadi, but give her this after you give him the box" Anika told him, reaching once more in her bag and pulling out an envelope. He took the little box and the envelope, looked at her and asked her the one question she didn't want to be asked. "You're coming back, right?"
I'm sorry for all the lies, I hope you'll forgive me. She smiled at him again, giving him a small nod and said "I have to go before someone comes out and sees us together. Thank you for everything. I'll be in your debt forever" She gave him a quick hug, because she really felt that they had become friends in the past few days, turned around and walked quickly to the car before he could question her again. She really had grown fond of him and hoped that Shivaay wouldn't be too angry on him. She got into the car and told the driver that he could leave now.
Sahil who was sitting next to her, looking out of the window, turned to her asked gave her his Are you going to tell me?' look. Anika sighed and told him "I'll explain later. No actually you'll understand in a bit ok". Without waiting for him to respond she took out the envelope she had gotten just a while ago, opened the seal, checked the contents, smiled and put the envelope back in her bag. This should last us until I can get back on my feet. And don't you dare feel bad Anika, it's yours. You worked hard for it.
"What's that Anika didi?" Her inquisitive bhai asked. Anika laughed at that and replied "He cashed in my cheques. It's good that he has the right contacts". And with that she picked up the one other thing he had arranged for her, switched it on and waited. Why do I feel so nervous. I'm doing this because they insulted my bhai, accused him, humiliated him, so why do I feel like this? Is it because Shivaay will be facing difficulties? No! Get it together Anika, he also believed Sahil was wrong. He stood there and watched it all. So don't you feel sorry for him! But I love him. NO! Stop right now. You're doing the right thing.

He saw her get into the car and watched as it sped away, turning around he stared at the entrance of OM thinking about what was going to unfold once he got into the Mansion. Only two people knew the fear he had inside of him. God and himself.
When she had contacted him that first day, he had been more than shocked, and that shock turned into fear when she had enlightened him by saying that Shivaay didn't know about what she was doing. The thoughts that had run through his mind during those few seconds that she had waited for his answer was enough for him to want to end the call, crawl back into bed and pretend he hadn't just answered her call but her pleading voice had stopped him from doing that.
He had went to meet her, still thinking about how he'd be dead if Shivaay were to find out what was happening. That man could be scary at times. When he met her at the cafe the next day and she had explained what she needed his help for, he had gotten up and walked towards the exist knowing he'd better get our of there before his family got his dead body. But her soft 'please' stopped him and he had cursed himself for having a soft corner for her.
He had listened to what she said and thought she was totally mad. But when he did check on what she had said, he realised that he was right to have stayed and listened. She was doing this for Shivaay, and he had seen how much those two cared for each other and even if they didn't acknowledge it there was some twisted sort of love between them that everyone else could see. So he knew that it was his duty to help. After all that was his life's purpose... to Help.
What have I gotten myself into??? This could end extremely well for me or extremely bad. But there's no backing out, not now, not when you know the truth, not now when you've given her your word that you'd help her. She needs you to help Him. so you are going to walk in there and do this.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts, he straightened his jacket, holding onto the small box and envelope in one hand and the file in the other, he let out a sigh and proceeded into the drama that awaited him. He walked inside to see Rudra asking Ms Kapoor if she was ok and saw that she dismissively waved him off saying she was fine and walked towards the kitchen.
"You're here for Bhaiya?" Rudra asked him after making a funny face at Ms Tia's retreating back. Laughing at the young Oberoi, he nodded and continued into the hall to stand near the sofa's as Rudra went up to call his bhaiya down. It's now or never. This could either go very well or extremely bad. It's a good thing I kissed my wife goodbye this morning. Who knows if I might see her again. His thoughts were interrupted by his named being called by the one person he was dreading to see.
"Khanna, did we have a meeting today?" Shivaay asked his Head of Security as he came down the stairs with Rudra.

I'm really sorry for ending it here buhhht I promise to make chapter 4 extremely long 😳 I wanted to post chapter 3&4 together but time didn't permit me to finish chapter 4 😭 college work has got things hectic for me && since I'm new to writing, I'm still trying to find a balance between writing and doing my assignments 🥱
