Chapter Two

Anika had avoided the Oberoi's for the rest of the day, she and Sahil and stayed in his room. Frankly speaking she actually enjoyed this isolation with her brother, it had been a while since it was just the two of them. It was like they were back home, just the two of them. Just like before these Oberoi's came into their lives. She had requested to OmRu, Dadi, Saumya and Prinku to just let Sahil and her be for the rest of the day and they had understood that the bhai-behen needed some time to themselves. Shivaay had come to Sahil's room, stood outside in all his King Kong glory and repeatedly knocked and called out for Anika, Sheldon Cooper would be so proud of him, his knocking and calling varying between calm and then all the way up I will break the door down if you don't open it'. Right up until Dadi had come and explained to him that Anika and Sahil wanted to be left alone. Anika vaguely heard what sounded like "What, what do you mean left alone? How can she want to be left alone?" and then she heard a sigh and retreating footsteps. She sighed at that and turned to Sahil who was looking at her expectantly.
"What was that Anika Didi? Why have we been avoiding everyone? Sahil asked her curiously. The little boy was used to his Didi's weird behaviour, but he knew she wasn't one to hide from anyone. What is she doing? How do I explain to her that Baggad Billa was forced to hurt her. "Arre I just want to spend time with you, can't I spend time with my bhai?" She replied to him, looking at him sheepishly. "Didi, I don't mind us spending time together, in fact it feels good to be just you&I again. It's been so long since its been just us" Sahil told her, smiling widely. He was truly happy to be spending time with her. He had missed this. "But you didn't answer my question, why are you avoiding everyone?" He asked again. And she sighed, knowing her firecracker of a bhai wouldn't let this go.
"I don't want you to be in danger of yesterday repeating itself Sahil. If we stay in here, they won't get a chance to blame you for anything. It's my fault that we started considering this house our own. I had forgotten that we don't belong here. These people aren't our own. This isn't our home. Dadi, OmRu, Prinku and Saumya are sweet, they're kind, good hearted, they treat us with so much of love and respect, but even then Sahil, they aren't ours. We had started to think of everyone as our own, in reality, we're just here for the time being. Think of it like a bad holiday" She laughed as she finished that sentence. Her laugh not at all genuine.
"What happened yesterday shouldn't have happened. I was right there but I couldn't protect you. But I couldn't. I have been too busy with trying to help and protect the people of this house that I forgot I had a brother to protect. I'm sorry Sahil, I'm sorry" At this point Anika had started to cry. She felt the pain of yesterday again, the shock, anger, hurt and disappointment. Shock of seeing her brother being hit by Tia, shock that he was accused of such a dirty act. Anger at both herself and Tia and Pinky, yes she was angry that Tia used Sahil to get back at her and she was angry at herself for not predicting that Tia would use her weakness against her and that she had started to depend on Shivaay for standing with her through everything. Angry that the man who had told her he trusts her, has full faith in her had failed to keep to his words.
Sahil crawled across the bed quickly and hugged his sister. He hated seeing her like this. He was never able to digest his Didi crying, it broke his heart. "It isn't your fault, its these people's fault, that they are so easily manipulated. It's not your fault, please stop crying" He told her softly, but his voice was firm. He needed her to understand that he didn't blame her. How do I tell her that Shivaay hadn't done all that to hurt her. That her Baggad Billa was just as hurt at what he done to her as she was.
"No Sahil, Tia targeted you because she wanted to get me out of this house. She knew that my weakness and strength is you. She knew that if you went, I would go too. She knew Sahil" She sobbed in his little arms, holding onto him tightly. He continued to comfort her and after a while she let him go. Wiping her tears she continued. "We're going to be leaving here soon" This is for the best Sahil, we can't live here anymore. He looked at her shocked and she laughed out loud at his expression "What? Why? Why all of a sudden?" He asked. What is she up to now?
"It's necessary Sahil, we need to go. I'm arranging a gift for the Oberoi's before we leave, as soon as my gift is ready we'll be leaving. And I don't want you to worry about anything. Your Anika Didi will see to everything. I just want you to go back to being a kid. You've had to grow up too quickly" She told him sternly, knowing he'd start to worry, but her voice saddened as she ended her sentence. She ran her hand over his head, looking at him sadly. She saw him shake his head at her before hugging her.
"I trust you Anika Di'. And as long as you're with me, I don't have to worry" His voice muffled from hugging her. I know you're running away to protect me and maybe your heart also. I just hope everything works out. Please God, be kind to us this once. He pulled away as he heard her phone vibrate on the bedside table. "You take the call, I'm going to sleep" He told her while crawling back to his side of the bed.
"Hello...Yes, I'm alone, what is it?...Really?...Both? Are you sure?...So that means you're going to help me now?...Yes I know that those two will be enough but I need this also. It's very important that I get this one...Please please...What? Are you joking? OH BETE KI!!!!...Sorry. Thank you so much. You have no idea how much you've helped me...Yes, you can give it to me...Where should I meet you? Same caf?...Yes It will be open and no it's not too late for me...Original? Ok, yes...Hahaha, feeling michmichi... Arre that dirty feeling...Yes, tomorrow morning? What time...Thank You again. Thank You...I'll be there in 15 minutes. Bye" She put her phone down and sat next to Sahil.
She saw him looking at her so she just did her leave it to me' gesture and said "The gift is ready, you can see it tomorrow, but I really have to go check if everything is set according to how I want it. Now no questions, you need to wake up early, sleep. I'll be back soon." She got up from the bed and walked towards the door, picking her bag as she went. Who knew revenge would feel this amazing.
"Does this mean we're going to leaving tomorrow also?" She heard his question and froze. Leaving him? No Anika, be strong, you need to do this for Sahil and yourself. He also believed that Sahil was wrong. Remember. Be strong. "Yes, we'll be leaving tomorrow also, and please don't tell anyone about this, you're under my oath, now go to sleep Sahil, I'll be back soon. I love you Sahil" She assured him. She needed him to know that she would still give him the best. "I won't tell anyone about this. Goodnight Anika Didi, please be safe. I love you too" He whispered. I'm not worried about me, I'm worried that you're going to end up hurting yourself.

"Dadi, my friend's wedding is day after tomorrow and she insists that Sahil and I come stay there for a few days. She's going to send her car to pick us up tomorrow morning. I just wanted to inform you about it" Anika told Dadi. They both were in Dadi's room. Anika had gone to explain to Dadi about her and Sahil leaving for a few days. I have to go, I'm sorry for lying to you Dadi but I don't have any other option. You will never let us leave. "But Anika, you know there is so much going on here. You need to be here. Billu needs you to be here. You can't go to stay, you can go on the day of the wedding" Dadi told her in that strict no nonsense voice she uses when her decision is final.
After her meeting with him in Ramu Bhai's caf last night, she had returned home highly enlightened and feeling all sorts of michmichi. She saw things that she would have never imagined and that wasn't an easy feat because Anika had an imagination big enough for the whole of Mumbai. Not even God himself could prepare her for what he had shown her. She had been shocked into oblivion for a few minutes then when he had shaken her shoulder, she had laughed so hard she had ended up with a coughing fit. How could she have been so stupid, so blind that she didn't see this? This just changed everything. He had to assure her about a dozen times that what she had seen was in fact 100% true and not tampered with.
She had finalised everything with him, actually she had pleaded, threatened and emotionally blackmailed him about 10 times to go ahead with the next step of the plan before he finally agreed and they could finalise things. But in the end they had both agreed on everything. She would be leaving for a few days to attend her "friends wedding". And he would enter OM the next morning as she was leaving. She didn't want to be there when all the raita got plailao'd. She just needed Dadi to let her go and then thing would be right. She was brought out of her thoughts by Dadi's voice "Anika, are you listening" The elderly woman was looking at her with eyes full of concern.
Anika wasn't giving up that easily tho', had it been any other day she would have accepted Dadi's decision and gone back to her room, but not tonight, tonight she needed to convince Dadi. "Dadi, I'm doing this for Sahil, he's abit shaken up by all that has happened and I think if he's away from OM for a few days he'll be alright" She explained to Dadi, her voice shaking alittle as she remembered that day. Please agree. Let us go. "Ok. You both can go" was all Dadi said but Anika could see the many unspoken words in her eyes. She could see the apology and sympathy in Dadi's eyes and Anika's heart clenched. But she just hugged Dadi, whispered a Thank You and left the room only to bump into Rudra outside the door.
Phail gaya raita. From the look on his face, Anika could tell that he had heard everything so she quickly told him "Rudra, please don't tell anyone about this. I don't want them to say I'm creating new drama, Please." Her eyes begging him to keep what he heard to himself because she knew that he'd be going straight to his bhaiya to tell him about her leaving. "But bhabi" He started but was cut off by Anika " Please Rudra, do this much for me." Shivaay will definitely show his tadi is he finds out about this. She saw Rudra sighing in defeat and she relaxed. "Pinky promise?" She held her pinky out to him. He smiled at that and reluctantly linked his pinky with hers. "Pinky promise bhabi"

So that's it for Chapter Two. I hope it didn't bore you too much. Chapter 2 is actually more of a filler chapter, buhht the story will pick up pace from Chapter 3. If y'all want anything added, please let me know.
