If you repeat something more than fourty times, it becomes a prayer and it may be answered, a friend says that it is an old belief from her place. On that note I hope Om is not turned into Male Chauvinist Pig, considering the fact that every single fan of his repeats that statement like a hundred times every day. So Omkara is turned the quintessential bitter, cynical Gul hero (yeah thank you so much for that Gulji, we really appreciate it!) Hopefully this is a temporary thing and he will return back to his own previous self, may be a little less righteous and hypocritical, a little more intelligent and strong, joyous and warm. Hopefully!
But as much as I feel bad, I guess it was inevitable, I guess we anticipated this change at some point of time though never for a love story. It was only a matter of time before the man broke considering this transition was always waiting for us in the surface in the form of Tej Singh Oberoi. The man we loved was beautiful, grounded, and pleasant yet he was a man of conflicts, there was innocence in him but he was always blind and hypocritical, an odd combo, a man with many faults but still a man worth loving. Omkara Singh Oberoi is as blind as Omkara, when he says love is a deal where you trade your heart for pain, he do not see that love can have other faces too which if he would just look at his brother and his wife he would have understood perfectly. But he has lost his innocence in the fire which burned his mother, his ideals and his hypocrisy burned in that fire. He is no more the "Good son", something he always struggled to become. I guess there was always a conflict inside him, one part urging him to put up the faade of the good one, be gentle and hold his ideals as close as he can, the other one screaming at him to let out his rage, be stronger and we saw this part coming up various times in the show but the gentle part always had an upper hand. However the fire burned it and the rage has come out in full force.
Though Omkara said he should have been Shivaay, hinting that he wants to be Shivaay, I am afraid that rather than Shivaay he is becoming Tej Singh Oberoi. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying he is going to lose all his moral codes and have illicit relationships but essentially he is turning the dangerous man that Tej is, or even more dangerous. As sad as it sounds Ishana turned out to be right about Om, he is his father's son. The Oberoi blood runs through his veins and being an Oberoi is synonymous to being cold-hearted as one can be. And what timing! when Shivaay has essentially began losing his Oberoiness, his brother is inflicted with the same. I thought Shivaay looked a bit alarmed at Omkara's transition, at his words of becoming Shivaay. Can we hope for a scene in the recent future where Shivaay feels partially responsible for the cold hearted man that Omkara Singh Oberoi is? Regretting about ever being like that and wishing for his Om? And What are the implications of this change of Om in Rudra? I wish they showed more of him. His feelings on everything.
I am delighted about one thing though as an Om fan, Omkara's transition was satisfactory. It was smooth and did not look manufactured for the TRP debacle that is DBO (I still don't understand how DBO is TRP material considering the fact that it is another IB when even IB has average TRP, Not to mention the fact that the rival show has two popular GEC faces and a novel concept for TV but that's the channel's problem so I am letting it be) And I take a moment to thank Gul for not disappointing Om fans in that particular detail. And I am eagerly waiting for another transition in the hope that love would change him back.
Lastly! Kunal Kulbhushan Jaisingh rocked today's episode with that really creepy but sarcastic smile.
