I've been wanting to write something about this topic for a while now.
Lately, Janvi's character has been such a disappointment and the suicide thing was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Here's what we know about her:
(1) She's a business woman.
(2) She helped Tej ( the ingrate) build the Oberoi empire.
(3) She "adopted" Omkara ( if the storyline is to be believed).

All these to me point to a strong woman.

But, lately the writers have been butchering her character. All she's been doing is cry and beg Tej.

I mean come on... everyone in the family knows he's a cheater- actually, the whole world knows it- yet, here she is begging him to stay.
I understand, maybe she wants to keep her family together... but, she's tried. And he doesn't want to change. He's picked Svetlana over her multiple times.

I think it's high time that Janvi picks her self-respect and her dignity from the floor and start respecting herself. Her kids would support her. Her family would support her.

So I don't understand why she's been turned into this abla-naari ( Sorry, if I misspelt this).

This is the 21st century and Ishqbaaz has been a show that's broken barriers so far, so why can't they show women being empowered? Show women being strong and taking a stand for themselves.

Hi,
Honestly, in both reel and real life (be it indian/american or bolloywood or hollywood), there are really few 'empowered' women.

Plus if we see Om and his mother are really similar in nature. They love people with all their heart. Doesn't mean that they can't be modern or one doing business etc. but they love to the point that it can be self destructive.

Next, she had ran from her marriage for Tej. That is a very big step- and he wronged her in the worst ways. In a way she ditched her parents for him who didn't respect her love- in such a case, anyone would lose their minds. She had to prove her decision right, hence, she did whatever Tej wanted, even if she hated it and yet, at the end all she gets is being dumped by her husband.

The person for whom she left her career, in a way her parents wants to leave her- though, it's the saddest part to see but she has to stop him, it would need an iron lady to move away even if from such a person after so much sacrifice. And to bear being dumped is another level, and at an age when half of your life has gone.

PS. More power to girls but we being educated or modern or even independent doesn't mean being strong.

Not just Janhavi , every woman on this show is a disappointment ( not talking about the men, they are all losers in IB). Janhavi needs chuck those heavy jhumkas and kick Tej where it hurts the most .
Anika needs to leave Oberoi mansion , saumya needs to go back to wherever she came from, Prinku needs to pop some xanax and tear ACP's tight t-shirts . The only exception is shakti, he is is growing some balls along with some facial hair lately . He needs to dump Pinky and have a one night stand with Mrs.Kapoor ! Daadi can then sit in Oberoi mansion with all the Y chromosome carrying pansies ( and Pinky )and give Gyaan on Ishaqbaazi with the kapoor sisters ! Oh and I will take Omkara home !

The Oberoi family may have a woman at its head, but the norms it adheres to are very much patriarchal in nature. You have both Tej and Shivaay hearing what Dadi says, but they do exactly what they want. It's in one ear and out the other for them. They're the ones who have the ultimate say in matters at OM.

Janvi actually doesn't have anyone there who will understand her. She will not burden her children with her feelings, She knows how fragile Om is vis a vis Tej, and Rudy is too young. While she's grateful to Pinky for helping her the past few months, I don't think Janvi will actually confide in her. She's never asked Pinky for help, only ever agreed to Pinky's offers of help.

Her alcoholism has already pointed to her mental weakness. So, her taking such a drastic step is in keeping with her character, I think. She clearly still has feelings for Tej and that's why his indifference and his parading his mistress right under her nose would hurt. Being handed the divorce papers would make it difficult to continue believing things would maybe work out.

Of course, the farcical way it has all been handled is just bizarre! I mean, a random blanket was right there ready to used to douse the flames?!

I;ve realised that they shoot the parts which they like very nicely but for the rest they don't even try to use basic logic. I mean why would everyone think she commited suicide and why was she out when it was her son's roka- perhaps, these things weren't important to any of them!!
