Chapter 18: An Unexpected -Turn of Events, Change of Heart and Reaction to Betrayal

As Shivvay finished what he had to say to Om and Rudra, they sat quiet for a few minutes, studying his face and absorbing all they had heard and witnessed him narrate today.

Shivvay leaned back with a sigh of relief that he had successfully completed what he had set out to do and waited patiently for the verdict that was going to be meted out to him. He knew that, after his confession, his brothers would do everything in the best interest of Annika first, Shivvay second and then the family at large.

He trusted them with his life and his future. They sat in companionable silence for a long time until Om looked at Rudra as if reaching a decision and spoke at last.

"I hope you don't think that admitting and confessing to what you have done automatically guarantees your pardon for these deplorable acts Shivvay??" asked Om in a hard and condemning voice and then continued when he found me shaking my head in negation to that question.

"The fact remains that you did this filthy and terrible things to Annika and indirectly to Sahil. You shamed us and the Oberoi family by manipulating a defenseless girl and a physically challenged child, both innocents. This is on your hands and the penance will have to be done by you and you alone. We will guide and support you but only if your actions are going to be favorable for Annika's growth. I hope I make myself clear that our loyalties lie with Annika where this is concerned Shivvay?", and with that he turned to get Rudra's approval to what he had said.

"Yes Bhaiya, I am with O on this. You have to make sure you give Anni Bhi all that you stole from her that day, her independence, self-respect and her pride. You should be proud to have a wife who never once uncovered your terrible acts because she knew what that would do to our family. You claim to have done all the wrongs you did for the family but you have ended shaming us whereas Anni Bhi did what she did for your family but will end up making us all proud once the others find out about this as well.", Rudra agreed in a shaky voice still recovering from the shock of what he had witnessed today.

"I intend to Rudra", I replied in a voice that held conviction. "In fact I intend to do that and more! I intend to do it without Annika realizing that I am doing it because I know what her reaction will be if she ever found out that I was doing this for her. I intend to give her independence and her career back so that she has the freedom to live her life as she sees right. I want to ...", I was cut off mid-sentence by the phone going off showing Rajveer, the head of security at our house, calling.

"Yes?!", I answered briskly, "If you have the footage I asked for Rajveer email it over?", and I disconnected the call. I instantly pulled the laptop towards me and opened my mail. A few seconds later I had it in the inbox and opened up the footage while OmRu walked over to stand behind me.

We saw a person, dressed in black from head to toe with a hood pulled low over their head, enter through the old garden gate that was supposed to be locked from the inside, but was left unlocked. The figure was as tall as Daksh but the built was not the same and that left all of us looking at each other puzzled.

I heard Rudy mutter something angrily that sounded like "If this is Rehaan I swear I will kill him with my bare hands and..." under his breath to our surprise. When we looked towards him puzzled at what he had said, but he just smiled sheepishly, waved his hand dismissively and nodded towards the screen.

We saw the intruder hide behind the kitchen shed and wait. Then a few minutes later enter we saw Tia open the back kitchen entrance and step out furtively into the shadows.

It looked like she called out to him because we saw him rush towards her outstretched arms and embrace in a passionate hug. As their lips locked and stayed like that for a few seconds the words "Fhat the wuck??!!", came in unison from all three stunned viewers.

After what seemed like a good few minutes of the amorous display, that left us feeling nauseated, she opened the door and led him in with a seductive look. The door closed and we were staring at the empty kitchen back door, in shocked silence, as if watching a movie and waiting for something else to happen.

After a few minutes of hearing the night crickets and a few hoots from the night owl we heard Om's bewildered voice break the silence, "Who the hell is that??!! And what the hell is he going into Tia's room for in the middle of the night??!!"

I could only stare at the screen in complete shock at what I had just seen while my brain was trying to process it all.

"Maybe she has planned a secret costume sleepover O but the O'Bro's were not invited to it!", replied Rudy in a sarcastic voice that had Om glaring angrily at him.

"Seriously O", he shook his head and continued in a voice full of disbelief at his older brother's stupid question, " you really need to wonder what they must be doing in Tia's room at that time of the night??!! You think it is continuing a midnight game of chess they may have left unfinished from the previous nights?? And yes, I am sure that you both are not foolish enough to think that this is the first time that this has happened. I am sure this guy has visited Ms. Universe and has had an out of this world experience with her many times before," he finished as he laughed at his own joke.

Om and I turned to stare at him and Rudy looked slightly embarrassed at what he had said realizing how that would have sounded to me. Om shook his head in disapproval as he nodded towards me and Rudy started to open his mouth to apologize, I am sure, but was cut off by me bursting into uncontrolled laughter.

That was enough to alarm both my brothers into action and they sat beside me and held me tight as if to console me. Om kept rubbing my back and saying that there must be a perfectly good explanation for this and Rudy held my hand in his and apologized for being insensitive to my feelings.

As I sat there holding my stomach and laughing hysterically while my panic stricken brothers were trying to console me. I waved them off and stood up to walk a few steps away from them.

I had tears of relief running down my face as I could not believe the chance 'lady luck' had thrown in my direction. I knew I sure as hell did not deserve it but boy was I glad to hold on to it for dear life.

I thought of all the times in the recent days I when I had felt the 'mich miches' holding or hugging Tia back and rebuking myself for feeling that. Now I know it was because she belonged to another man!

Come to think of it now she would sometimes have the scent of cologne other than mine on her after she had returned from her shopping sprees. Dear God!!! What a fool I have been, what a complete fool!!!!

I mentally slapped my head and thought, "First Daksh and now Tia! "

Mrs. Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi was going to have a good laugh at my cost and was never going to let me live this down when she found out about it- not in a million years.

I thought back to all the times she tried to rip the blinders of NKK that were over my eyes, blocking me from seeing the truth.

How she tried to warn me! How she pleaded and ranted that Tia was already married! How,even till the wedding day, she looked out for me and even ended up sacrificing herself unknowingly to spare me the humiliation of being married to a woman who was already another mans wife.

I thought of all the times Annika had tried to prove to me that Tia was married and the times I had insulted her or shot her down. I sighed in defeat as I thought how right my wife had been once again about Tia's marital status. I should contemplate changing my name from Shivvay to Pappu officially at this rate which would make Mrs. Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi a very happy woman I am sure.

And 'Dear sweet Tia', I thought and smirked. You were so right about the Universe giving you what you want if you truly ask for it with an honest and open heart. I would have to explore this possibility a little more in detail so that the opportunity does not slip through my fingers. Annika had been right once more I thought as I faced palmed.

But the important thing right now was to gather more evidence against my "Universal Fiance' who seemed to be sharing all her positive vibes with someone else and it was of vital importance that I manage to find those divorce papers before they came back signed.

You are not going to know what hit you Tia. You messed with the wrong man my dear and all the Reiki in the universe is not going to be enough for what Shivvay Singh Oberoi has planned for you.

I was being watched by a very shocked OmRu who probably thought that the trauma of what I had witnessed had made me completely lose my marbles.

They watched in shock as I wiped away my tears, grinned like an idiot and proceeded to hug them in a bear hug saying, "This has been the best news I have had in a long time. I think we should celebrate!"

I walked over to the drink bar and pulled out a bottle of 'sparkling wine'. This would have to do, I thought as I poured it into 3 wine glasses, until I popped the champagne with my wife at a later date.

I raised my glass and toasted to my brothers,already grinning from ear to ear at the happy turn of events, "To Mrs. Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi - a 'khidki-tood wife and bhabhi and the Oberoi 'good luck charm'"
