I know this topic is about the current track but I have many issues with the way the stories are going and Shivaay character sketch. Even at times I do not like Anika either, she does not think at all and has no filter at times.

His character had a lot of potential to be shown complex and they never really gave a reason for his thought process about why this khoon khandaan matters to him. no back story how he began thinking in this line. No one is born with this kind of mind set and why became so hard and unfeeling towards others except his family.

Now his character is similar to all other male leads, so they can glorify the female character. I hate this type of glorification, where they make males some sort of a monster to justify whatever the female will do later.

I just dislike at times the way they write the men in Hindi shows. Either they are too good or too bad, no middle ground.

In fact I do not like the way females are portrayed either, can not relate to them at all.

Given that this is a Gul Khan show, I don't expect ground breaking characterizations for the ML and FL anyways😆...but by her usual standards, Shivaay and Anika are far better sketched and enacted characters.

@bold: To some extent, they gave some backdrop to Shivaay's thinking in the early days given his cynicism about the dysfunction in the elders of his own family...it is implied that he has seen a lot of the same during his business interactions as well and these have ended up hardening his beliefs.

Beyond that, I actually find it refreshing that they didn't go into an extended sobby backstory for him about how his mom betrayed him or his father betrayed him so now he hates the whole world...it's actually almost a coldly practical philosophy he has and it doesn't always need some grand basis for it...it's mainly a survival mechanism for him in a world which according to him is totally cut-throat so he has adapted himself to it. He is a typical embodiment of a coconut which has developed a hard/brittle covering to protect the fruit (his family) inside...since most of the other people in the family seem useless on multiple levels, this drive has only gotten stronger in him.

Ofcourse the show moved towards more light-hearted comedy later on but when it began, at that point, Shivaay did have justification for being cynical given how the elders in the Oberoi family were.

i am so glad Shivaay has no sob story man. I am happy that whatever he is or his thinking is its self adopted and not because of some ground breaking sob story or past.. That would have been so meh.. He is cynical,lame, lives in reality, is practical and is more mind than heart..and thats absolutely fine.. Rest Anu ne jo kaha ..Ditto.. Hehe!

Anika toh bhai fav hai meri.. Filter or no filter she is ek dum mast and real for me.. :D

I like it for the drama it evokes, ki ML basically bas le nahi sakta kuch...khud kuch bhi karne ki koshish kare.

The first time woh 'beta hua maa se paraya' scene hota hai toh mujhe bohot amusing lagta hai😆😆

Oh yeah, it felt almost like he kept stopping her in some way or the other, and I LOVED how normal anika was with him, seriously koi fark nahi padta tumhari Tadi se, 'it's so last season'😆😆😆

I think it's an important thing to show: one of the main reasons some people can overpower you is because you GIVE them that power by assuming a subordinate position, idhar toh ulta hi hota hai

Haan it does evoke drama but I feel is story mein needed nahin tha...oh well, I guess they had no other way of spurring him into action cuz otherwise toh bas khadaa rehta while Anika cried helplessly and everyone berated her *rolls eyes*...I hope he atleast opens his mouth after this other than just stopping Pinky from slapping her.

A person can only be overpowered if they GIVE that power to someone...but Anika is not having any of it...she is standing just as tall and proud as ever...without going into OTT scenes of shouting at him or throwing stuff around in anger...

Her contempt is SHINING through and Billu can so FEEL it😆...it bothers him but right now he is too busy trying to hide her from the family...haha tomorrow situation will flip again.

You know everything aside, the scene in the room had a strange normalcy to it...like it was a routine for them...they had already settled into the role of husband-wife (atleast argument-wise) perfectly😆

Can someone explain what Shivaay's plans for The Great Bridal Escape are, exactly? Was he planning to sneak Anika out during the night, and then calmly announce to the family over breakfast the next morning that their new bahu pranced off to her maayka without even showing her face to the khaandaan? And then somehow find Tia and cut another brilliant deal? And apparently he wants a divorce from Anika too? Just how can you divorce a woman whom you have not even married, technically speaking? 🤔 And the success of all these PLANS depend on one flimsy ghoonghat staying in place? 🤔

This Billu's plans are worse than a high-schooler's trying to hide his grades.

But then this is also the show in which Anika watched a B-grade movie to prove a dead woman was alive. So never mind. 😆

That scene from the Tuesday episode, the one with Bheji thi dua, was so well done though. Was shot and directed nicely, and great performances too, especially from SC...the moment Anika finally submits and yet rages at him with this anger born out of the helpless defeat he had cornered her into, while he holds her back but also just, lets her be...those few seconds did what three entire episodes of drama could not... showed Anika's fierce courage and the appalling lengths to which Shivaay had to fall in order to make her bend to his will. Chalo at least they managed one genuinely poignant moment in this giant trollfest of a shaadi, that in itself is a shocker. 😆
