And I am sorry this is a long post.

I went through quite a lot of emotions after watching today's episode ranging from feeling heartbroken for Ani to being happy for just a second seeing that lovely Shivkara speech and finally after everything , I was left with an ache in my chest for Anika. But most of all I felt really really angry with Shivaay. For being such a coward like you said. For messing up so much!!
Maybe the misunderstandings were created by Tia, but knowingly or unknowingly Shivaay is the root cause of all this. His lack of belief in Ani, his cowardice to accept what he really felt about her, his blind ideologies that never let him accept her as she was, and yet not let her go...

His lack of concern bothered me yesterday when he failed to go and check on her safety even with all his ESP and not reaching her via phone. Ok, I get it that the security would have informed him bit what if she was lying in a pool of blood somewhere else?

And today, like you said, her opinion of him woulld have gone to an all new low with the way he expressed concern for her. I was happy that Daksh entered and gave him a rude wake up call...that you can go and take care of your lovely bride, I am here for Ani now...

According to Ani, Shivaay thinks of her as a goldigger, faking and seeking his attention and he even wants to pay her off for her services!! Thats an incredible blow to Ani's khuddhari!!The final nail in the coffin would be if he questioned her character and morals after seeing her with Daksh(if the spoilers are to be believed).

I hate these misunderstandings too and they are breaking my heart and if I didn't know that Shivika were going to get married, I would have just left watching the show.
But sometimes, seeing how Shivaay is running away and being an absolute coward, I think, I could take pleasure in reading your ff on Consequences again because if the story was based on Karma, Shivaay would have got exactly what he deserved. And it wouldn't be Ani.

I love that you get as emotionally invested as I do. Both in your comments on Consequences and evidently here. It makes me feel less weird to know I am among my peers ;)

Yes! I am SO GLAD that Daksh interfered right at the beginning, he's slowly tipping Shivaay towards desperation by interrupting his moments with Anika- things he was clearly used to taking for granted.

You know though, I was terrified Daksh would appear by the poolside and see Anika crying, which would have totally ruined that beautifully painful moment for me and I am so glad that he didn't. That Anika had that private moment to mourn her loss- because for her, this "reveal" of the "real Shivaay" is a huge loss to her. A loss of something she never even knew she had. And that's devastating. I'm glad it wasn't interrupted or seen or ruined in such a stupid manner by some creepy guy's head popping round the corner.

You're right! Shivaay is being a coward, and his self-assurance that he doesn't feel anything for Anika because he's engaged and that she's just having one-sided feelings for her have made him complacent. He's taken her for granted and he's underestimated her and overestimated how "irreplaceable" he is to her. And that's going to be wonderfully and painfully hurled back in his face with Anika's engagement.

I do wonder how Shivaay will react and whether he'll sink even further into denial or if he'll finally realise his feelings. Anika throwing a "You no longer have any right to these moments. These belong to Daksh now." will probably cause him to not just break an iPhone, but head on over to an Apple Store and start outright smashing Macbooks 😆

Honestly, I am so angry at Shivay for being such a coward. I want to hit him on the head for hurting her, even if he has done it unintentionally. But at the same time I am trying to understand his state of mind and how his unintended actions will push her on the edge.
They had developed a camaraderie which stemmed from mutual respect and trust. They had started to lean on each other, to protect one another, to trust the other person. But the interference of two outsiders is making them question the roots of this bond. Why do feel the need to protect each other?why trust each other so much? how do they know each other so well?

To Shivay, finding the answer to these questions would mean going against everything that defines Shivay Singh Oberoi. He respects her. He is proud of her. Inspite of not having a family name to back her up, she has proved her worth. But he cant be in love with her. So settles for being her ally, her well wisher, her protector even. He was content with having her in his life and not naming the bond they shared. Daksh, Tia's interference and his own need to be an integral part of her life is messing him up. And the fact that someone else is about to take his place, in her life is eating him up. So he will try to regain his position but she will push him away.

She let him see a part of her that she had hidden away from everyone. She let herself be vulnerable, let herself lean on him. But when she heard him express his doubts, her trust in him was shattered. She was always a loner, fought her battles alone but the one time she leans on someone else, she is immediately stripped off that support. Now she has to retreat before he breaks her further. She needs to get back the power she had allowed him to have over her. So pushes him away, redraws the boundaries of their relationship.

He can always just say "Well obviously I'm not in love with you, because I'm engaged. I love someone else. You don't. You love me."

This. So much. That air of condescending superiority behind which Shivaay very conveniently hides his own feelings, it is what has made me REALLY anticipate this track, despite all the contrived MUs, half-baked plotting and character inconsistencies and god yes, the TuRD Trio, as you aptly called them. They have used this tendency of Shivaay to great comic effect in some scenes before, but when you think about it from Anika's perspective, it's anything BUT funny. For someone who has been shown to have such a strong sense of self-respect, it must be heart-breaking to be almost pitied by the man she loves. Shivaay so conveniently rationalizes his Anika-ESP and all the hyper panicking and protectiveness which comes with it, as a way of repaying her for whatever she has done for him and his family; it's almost as if he cannot let himself consciously believe that a girl so beyond his naam-khoon-khandaan circle is, on her own merit, deserving of his love. So he just lets himself believe that she is infatuated with him, and that he is simply being kind and helpful to her like he'd be to a loyal household pet. It'd have been really distressing to watch if Shivaay didn't end up trolling himself and all his rationality so very often around Anika, rendering it all moot. 😆 So yeah, what's coming for him is going to be very much deserved as far as I am concerned; it will be interesting to see what new explanations his super-rational dimaag will come up with now.

What she's taken away from him is trust. She told him, don't come close to me, meri bad luck hi kharab hai, you'll get hurt. He risked it, and now, he's gotten too close to the flame. The more she withdraws, the harder he's going to try and hold on, and, as you pointed out, it will make him look like he's being a hypocrite, and she will hate him for it. Previously, she saw his overhelming possessiveness as almost her due, their private thing, his reward for being her Billu-ji. And he took that seriously enough for her to reciprocate, with her entire being, to also fiercely take care of him in whatever way she could. It was the most beautiful part of their relationship. Not the slips and falls or the close cuddling--the Great Wall and his Supergirl. True trust, and reliance.

And the addiction of being the one to watch over, to take care of this magnificent woman, a woman he respects and is a little in awe of-- that is a heady thing to have. Shivaay worked for it. Its more than being in love, its being in her inner circle, where its just him and Sahil. He's not going to be able to give it up to some Tom Dick or Daksh who wanders in and scoops away the right to WORRY from him. And she will MAKE him back off.

Its become too engrained. You'd think his ego will keep him aloof now, but I think the opposite will happen. He actually expects his BROTHERS to do the job of taking care of Anika for him, when he's not around. Rudra got yelled at in the spa sceen--"You couldnt watch over her?" Om got a fierce demand last night "Where is she? Where is Anika!" Some how, Shivaay has decided Anika watching is their job, too, now.

You go home. Its too late for you to be here. I will take you home. You drink this. You work too hard, you are a musibbat magnet, you are so careless with yourself, you are exhausted. You let me handle this, you sit back, you moronic woman, dont you move. You let me take of care of you. Drink the juice, don't you get up, you rest, you call me, you remember, right that you have to call me? And so far, she has let him. All the way up to him showing up at her house, and being given that final right, to hold her, to soothe and comfort her. To look under her bed for monsters, to tell her there are none. That, while he's there, with her, no monster will dare to show up to harm her. To make decisions for her, give her the power of his money via 24-7 guards. And his name. The right to his name on her lips.

He's earned his way to that final triumph.

On Monday, he will be exerting the other right she gave him --to answer for her. He believes he knows her answer, after all, didn't he demand one from her by the poolside, and wasn't it was a No? He knows her words, and her silences. So he will go ahead with that, because he knows he has the right. Unconsciously, Shivaay has been exerting his right to protect and watch over her. That same thing will now be intolerable for her. All that work undone, through two manipulative people, in two episodes.

Damn. I might cry for HIM..

Their trust is part of what makes this whole thing so devastating to me. An equality. Shivaay recognises in Anika someone who is his equal in every way except the ways which, to him, matter (honestly since I read NotW I haven't been able to find a way to sum it up better than you did there).

Loool Tom Dick or Daksh had me creasing. But you're right, Shivaay is almost trying to "platonicise" their relationship by treating her as family. Saying she's part of his family, trusting care of her to his family, being as furious with her when she endangers herself as he was with Om when he did drugs. As you said, by trusting her as he trusts his family. Maybe he thinks he can explain away his feelings for her in that way, but of course... that doesn't explain the attraction. So he buries that as deeply as he can, both by forcing himself to try and focus on Tia, as well as some good old fashioned denial.

Both Anika and Shivaay's respective worlds depend upon them always being strong. Anika needs to be strong for herself while Shivaay needs to be strong for everyone else. Working together they are able to split the burden, supporting each other (something I think was shown beautifully several times through the Mallika arc) and knowing the other will be strong for them in their moments of weakness. Anika admitting her fear of the dark to Shivaay was in some ways even more intimate than the hug because she gave him her trust in that moment. She told him what made her weak because she trusted him and because she felt that around him, she could stop pretending to be strong when she didn't truly feel it.

Her "Main theek ho." today broke my heart for that reason. She gave him her vulnerability, that ultimate trust... and then today she took it away. She put her own wall back up.

She's taken away his right to care, his right to her trust, his right to be their for her and in turn, the right to have her be there for him.

Monday, when she takes away the one thing he thought he had- his instinctive understanding of her, his ability to know what she wanted and felt without her ever having to say it to him...

You're right.

We're all going to cry.

...I can't wait.

Omg!! This post!! 👏👏👏
For me Shivika's biggest enemy were always going to be their egos(mainly Shivaay's).. Tia and Daksh are just tools to bring this into focus. And I'm glad this is what we heading for.. 😊
Anika and Shivaay both need to fight their own egos before they can fall in love completely 😊..
I feel this dent in Anika's trust will be repaired slowly when the arrogant Shivaay wins against his ego slowly. And Shivaay's acceptance of Anika will increase once the very independent Anika starts depending on him slowly slowly - When she will let him be her Great wall of Shivaay!! And during this journey, their instinctive actions and reaction will keep questioning the doubts about love that are in their head and slowly but surely the heart will win over the mind!! 😊😊

I agree with this tenfold.
Yesterday's episode broke my heart with all the subtleties and the foreshadowing that the characters threw in. Honestly, this episode made me feel worse than the episode where Shivaay fires Annika.

I think it was because I realised that by then, Annika and Shivaay were invested in each other to some extent, but no way close to what they are right now.

So, for Annika to take away her hand from his, when he's trying to express his care for her, came as a big blow. I also loved how softly she moved her hand out of his; it makes me think back to the episode after Shivaay proposes to Tia, and how Annika practically threw her hand out of his.

In that episode, it was obvious to both Shivaay and Annika that she cared deeply about the whole situation, which was upsetting for both of them. Yesterday's episode though, it's practically foreshadowing the seeming indifference that she will soon harbour in front of Shivaay, which is more or less enough to break him. Because, as it falls, he has always taking her caring as granted. When she completely screws up that conception, it'll come down too hard on Shivaay.

THAT, for me, is absolutely heartbreaking.

Because, essentially, that is what Shivaay does best.
Care. Protect.
He only does all of this for his family though, and somehow, he's given some random middle-class girl (that he claims he doesn't feel anything for) the same luxury, that he hasn't even really given his own fiancee.

His walls are crumbling, and her walls? They're going up again, stronger than ever.

Because as you and others have said, she's going to take it all away.
I think Daksh interspersing himself into their moments is symbolic, especially in the morning when he tells Shivaay that unlike him, he was there to save Annika. Subconsciously, he's preparing Shivaay for the big wake-up call that he's going to get in the next episode - that for all rights and purposes, Daksh is going to replace him as Annika's protector, carer, lover.
I hope that this is the moment that Shivaay realises what he's going to lose (judging by his face in the promo, it looks like he will) and comes to terms with the fact that he loves her.

For god's sake though, if he turns into a neanderthallastic brute after her engagement, and manhandles her and yells at her, and hecking god forbid, accuses her of picking second-best because she couldn't have him, I will be livid at Shivaay.

All we can really hope for is that we see some intense ShivIka in the next few episodes, and moreover, that we don't drown in our tears from watching it all.

I love this whole thread, thank you TM ❤️
Shivaay's devastated face as Annika accepts Daksh's ring is stuck in my mind on pause.

He is such a strange conundrum. He has successfully detached his feelings from the events of the day, somehow. He was gaily dancing with his brothers, the brothers danced in celebration of his wedding, but nothing of the new entry into their house. A welcome to Tia and her family was missing from Omkara's speech. It was a speech of renewed love and endless loyalty to each other, despite his marriage.

So buoyant with this brotherly love, he danced with all his heart, for this is where he is the happiest, with his brothers. Then amidst the rambunctious dancing, a silent Annika makes an appearance.

She didn't appear with grandeur, she just stood in the side of all the festivities, looking like she'd rather be anywhere but here. She cant help it if he finds her heartbreakingly beautiful. But he suddenly feels guilty, for being so happy when she was obviously so tormented. Why should he feel guilty?

She is traumatized because she is being targeted by a man intent on harming her, for no apparent reason. A deep fear was unlocked , now darkness has taken a new murky and suffocating horror. She is jumping at shadows and pindrops , she's extremely vulnerable.

Is she angry that Shivaay wasn't there for her? Of course not. It wasn't his job to pick her up when she fell!? it was her job, she picked herself up when she fell. But she's hurt that he actually thought she made up the whole thing to get his attention. If you notice , she's already begun picking herself up.

How do you dress up and go to an insanely happy party when you feel like dying inside? you put on extra make up, fake the blushes and look your best.

If one were looking, they would first be struck dumb with her beauty. Then they would gaze more, and see the bloodshot terror and agony her eyes cannot hide.

She's humiliated that he realized she loved him, and callously paid her off to make her scarce. Like a gradual barrier, he'll be married soon, so no more talking to each other afterwards. No more of that "catching you when you fall, holding you when you're scared" kind of things.

She's pulling away, and pushing him away as well.

Sorry for butting in but the bold content is so so true ! I still remember the glint in his eyes when Anika he said i am just a call away and she responded 'Janti hun'. It was her acceptance that he is the one to whom she will look upto when the need arises. But now the sudden shift of gear is going to baffle him and Anika will provide absolute no relief, at least I dont see her giving any explanation !!!! He isint going to be number 1 in her life and this feeling is going to pierce his heart in pieces !
