Readers, as you know, Shivaay and Anika's (affectionately named ShivIka or AnShi depending on whether you abide by the conventional rules of Couple-Name-Contractions or not) path to marriage was a dramatic one. Some of you may even wish to find your Comments on previous TRC posts and relive some of those inexplicably intense feelings.
Together we laughed and cried (mostly for Anika) and screamed (mostly at Shivaay) and then, just when we thought things could not possibly get any more hopeless for the two... they got married.
Readers, when we got the news all of us were shocked. Stunned. Positively bewildered. It was at once everything we had hoped for and nothing we ever expected. We were all worried that things had taken a sudden turn for the worse (a fair assumption given the tragic trajectory their story had been on prior to said Shotgun Shaadi) and that Shivaay had done the standard Angry Young Man thing and forced Anika into marriage.
But their behaviour would suggest otherwise. They seem, Readers, to be truly happy. There has been fallout- of course there has been fallout- and everyone they know as well as everyone they don't has been asking our beloved couple just one question.
"WHY?!"
But the duo are remaining remarkably tight-lipped. They are facing any and all criticism head on and addressing everything with the kind of icy grace which at this point is practically trademarked by the Oberoi Family. They reveal nothing and answer no questions while somehow leaving all curious parties feeling guilty and occasionally even downright silly for having even asked such questions in the first place.
That Anika has mastered the technique with such efficiency is no surprise. After all, would we ever support anyone as a partner for Shivaay Singh Oberoi who could not stand beside him and roar just as loud? And if they couldn't even fight off hordes of the abhorrent little cockroaches more commonly known as the paparazzi, how could one expect the wife of Shivaay Singh Oberoi to ever hold her own against her own lion of a husband?
Calling Shivaay a lion seems inappropriate somehow. How about the Ice Lion? Snow Leopard? Arctic Fox?
Readers, let us speculate no longer, because as Anna Julia Cooper once so wisely said:
'Life must be something more than dilettante speculation.'
Let us come together and observe instead. Grab your popcorn and your sisters and your PJs and your friends. And remember to tune back in for the next installment in the lives of Shivaay, Anika and the rest of Oberoi clan.
TheRomCom continues.
Much love,
