I think Aanika is from a family connected to the Oberoi family secret from 20 years' ago (and this is only because it will make for a good story and add dimension; plus, it's kind of Gul's forte). However, I think both her parents are very much dead because Aanika is meant to fit the Sita archetype; Sitaji was born from the Earth and adopted by the King of Jannak. Similarly, Aanika's origins are unknown and she was adopted by a kind family.
