Hey people! This is a story that I had in mind for sometime now. But it took me so long to just put it all together. I am a huge fan of the Obros, especially Omkara and this is sort of the storyline that I had imagined for him. So this is the first part. It may be a little weird, but bare with me, as I'm still contemplating a bit about the storyline and the characters. The parts in italics, are the girls thoughts.

Since the story was conceived earlier, it starts back in time when Shivaay was shot and was admitted to the hospital.

What about us?

Prologue

The young female associate had just finished briefing the partners on the updates of the Thompson-Raheja acquisition deal. She was gathering her things from the conference room, and trying to reflect on the conference that had just taken place, when one of the partners, Ajay Bakshi smiled at her and complimented her for the work. She thanked him, she was glad that the partners seemed to be impressed with the research she had done and the due diligence report that she had put together. She had been an associate with the firm for about a little less than two years now, and was really hoping to make an impression on the partners. Although, her boss, Cyrus Irani was a good mentor and she had a pretty decent team, she often longed to be noticed more for her work. With her time at the firm, and her prior experience, she would be due for a promotion as a senior associate in a few months time. But to be promoted she would have to be approved by all the partners at the firm, and she had worked with only 20 out of the 35 partners. This deal that she was working on, involved 4 partners, out of whom she had worked with only 2, and now apparently, Ajay Bakshi was also impressed with her, the other partner, Manas Rathod, however was a tough nut to crack. She cringed at the thought of trying to impress him. Throughout the presentation, he had had a straight face, like he always had. She could actually count the number of times she had seen him smile. Three, maybe four if you counted the half-smile, when the firm was awarded the Indian Deal Firm of the Year', last year. She had tried to get herself on a few cases with him, but it was usually handed over to someone else with more experience or, if she did get the case, the case would be a piece of cake for a paralegal.

She headed over to her desk in the bull pen, to collect her things and then head home, she checked her watch, it was 10:15, and considering it was a Friday night , it would take her even more time to reach home. Of all the things in the world, she could never get used to Mumbai's traffic. She was just about to leave, when she saw Ajay Bakshi talking to Manas Rathod, who seemed to look worried. She went closer to see what the discussion was about, when she heard them talk about some papers that had to be delivered to a client.

"What do you mean she left? She was supposed to take these papers with her, and drop them of personally at the Oberoi Mansion. This is a bloody emergency!", he snarled.

"Well, she did leave, and now she isn't answering her calls. Damn, I would have dropped it off myself, if I didn't have to take Mr. Thompson out for dinner. "

" I promised to take my wife out for dinner, and it's already late", said Mr. Rathod lookinng at his watch, "she will kill me if I cancel again. But I need a lawyer from the firm to personally hand this over to the Oberois. Mr.Tej Oberoi has specifically instructed for these papers, and we need to keep them happy", he sighed. He seemed to be getting impatient by the minute, "may be I will go give it to them myself."

The associate had heard, the conversation and she understood that some important papers needed to be dropped off at the Oberois house. But she didn't understand why the partner wanted some lawyer from the firm to do it. As per the firm's general practice, any documents, once prepared would be either collected by the client, or be sent to the client with the firm's clerical staff. They were people in the firm who were specifically paid, for making such deliveries. "The Oberois?" she thought, that surname rang a bell in her head, it sounded familiar to her, and that was when it struck her. One of her colleague was working on some documents for the Oberois that evening, and she seemed all flustered about it. They were apparently one of the biggest business families in Mumbai, and since she had moved to Mumbai only two years ago, she didn't really know a lot about them. But by the behavior of the partners she figured out that, they were important for the firm, and she obviously wouldn't miss the opportunity, to impress the partner.

"I can drop it off, if you'd like", she offered.

Mr. Rathod turned around to see, the young associate, who had just given a presentation on a multi-million dollar deal.

"Are you sure?", he asked, "Do you know where they live? Or do you know what these papers are for?".

"Man! He really is desperate about these clients and these papers" she thought.

"Well, I'm pretty sure, I can read the papers on my way over there, and I'm sure I can find the address on the clients database, that we keep", she replied with a soft smile.

The partner seemed to hesitate, and was about to say something, when he saw that his wife was calling him. She was probably throwing a fit, and would kill him if he tried to cancel, or reschedule their dinner date.

"Well they live in Pali Hill, are you sure that wouldn't be out of the way for you? Not to sound sexist, but I wouldn't really like a girl travelling out of her way to drop these off, and besides I'm guessing you don't drive around."

"Pali Hill? Damn! That would be out of my way, but now that I have offered my help, there is no way I will back out. "she thought. "No sir, I have to go around that place, to meet a friend, and then I can head home", she lied.

"Well! It's sorted then, you can drop these papers off and meet your friend, I will go to dinner with my wife before she roasts and eats me, and Bakshi will take Mr. Thompson for dinner", he said while heading out and smiled. She was surprised to see him smile, that makes it five times, she counted mentally.

"Give me your number, I'll text you the address. Hand them over to either Mr. Tej Singh Oberoi, or Mr. Omkara Singh Oberoi. Make sure you go through those papers before you hand them in, just in case the Oberois have any questions about the papers, and do let me know or if you need some information, or have any problems to deliver these papers. ", he said getting into the elevator.

He saw that his driver was waiting with the car outside, and before he got into the car, he called out to her, and said, "by the way, that was a nice presentation today. You did some really good work on the due diligence. Good job!".

"Thanks sir!", she exclaimed.

"These Oberois seem to be lucky for me!", she thought, "all these months that I have been trying to catch his attention, nothing has worked out! And I offer to drop these papers of with the Oberois, and he's finally noticed that I exist. May be I should try to get myself on to their file" she thought and smiled to her self before she hailed a cab to go to the Oberoi Mansion'.

NOTE- Okay! So let me know how you liked it. There are a few things that I wanted to put across.

Disclaimer- I am not a lawyer, so my knowledge with respect to the legal world, is really limited, to English legal fictions(TV shows and Books), the news, and one of my friend who is a lawyer. I don't own any characters except the girl', Mr.Irani', and Mr.Rathod'. I know there are too many characters. But, don't worry about it since, all of them are not important.

I'm not sure if you guys noticed, but the young female associate' , who is going to be Omkara's love interest hasn't been named in this part. That is because, I'm still not sure, if it should be Ishaana or Ridhima or a completely new character. Like I said, I had thought of this story earlier, but had been too busy/ lazy to get it started, so it's difficult to place either of the present female stars in mind to write it. I should be able to decide pretty soon. Do you guys have any suggestions? Let me know what you guys think. Any suggestions for a name will gladly be accepted. For now, I'm planning a SS, but if I think I can devote more time I will make it an FF.

It was wonderful! Crisp, well-written and with enough material to get me interested even if she is a completely original character created by you. Looking forward to your next update!

Hi! I know, that's it's been too long since the first part. But the second part is here now. SO I decided to go with a new character. Chose the name which was initially in my mind. Hope you guys like it. If you do please like the first post/ or this one so that I can PM you about the updates. If you don't please no Chamelis/Chandinis at me.

Part 1

Aryahi closed the documents in her hand, from what she had gathered Omkara Singh Oberoi was replacing Shivaay Singh Oberoi, as the CEO for Oberoi Group of Industries. Her knowledge about the Oberoi's was limited to the newspapers. She hadn't paid much attention to them until today.

As, the car halted, she peaked out and saw that she had reached her destination. She stepped out of her cab, to what was probably the biggest mansion that she had seen. It was the perfect blend of historic and modern. She walked on the stone path that towards the rod iron gate, the words Oberoi Mansion' was carved on to the walls on the right and there were two security guards on both the sides of the gate. As she entered, the other security personnel stationed in a room right behind the gate, took down her number, checked her id and then let her in.

As she started walking she couldn't help but gape at the enormous white structure towering over her as if trying to intimidate her. Uniquely twisted fencing kept the house enclosed, neatly trimmed hedges surrounded the house. The roof was peaked, slanting down at an angle. As she stepped onto the sidewalk, she noticed a marble fountain sitting towards the right side of the sprawling garden.

She stood there in awe for a while, awe struck by its grandeur. She felt like she had walked on to the sets of a Karan Johar movie or of Downton Abbey. As she walked through the front door, which could accommodate a family of giraffes, she stole a glance around the place, the Italian whit marble flooring was glowing and there was exquisite furniture that was spread across the hall , , two flights of spiral staircases going up to the second floor. No wonder this place was called a mansion. She had seen big houses, huge even. But this was nothing compared to the abodes that she had seen before, and this was in Mumbai, the city where people struggled to find a a square foot of land, or shade to hide their head.

Her thoughts were interrupted, when one of the sharply dressed domestic help guided her to a room, and pointed towards a man, apparently the person she was looking for- Omkara Singh Oberoi. He was rummaging through a cupboard desperately/ fast. Dressed in cargo ankle length pants and a blue wide striped shirt, the guy seemed shabbily dressed for someone so rich. He has pretty long hair for a guy', she thought eyeing his hair with a slight jealousy, and its silky' . In fact her hair was probably the same length as his, give or take an inch or two.

"Mr.Oberoi", she called out to him, "I am Aryahi, I work as an associate with RBA and Mr Rathod has asked these papers be delivered to you."

Omkara Singh Oberoi, was busy picking up some stuff for him and his brothers. His older brother,-or his cousin as people liked to point out- was attacked today, yet again, and he had just been operated on. He and his younger brother were going to spend the night in the hospital, by Shivaay's side, so he had just come back home to make sure that his grandmother was well taken care off, and to pick up some essentials for the brothers. He was too preoccupied with thoughts about his brothers and grandmother, and what the woman said vaguely registered in his mind. Although, he didn't really understand why this woman wanted to speak to him, he instinctly, asked her what she wanted, without turning back, or looking at her.

Aryahi was taken aback for a moment with his behavior, it looked like he was still trying to find something, so she wasn't sure if she should wait for him, or continue. "Well, these papers state that should something happen to Mr. Shivaay Singh Oberoi, his powers in Oberoi Group of Industries would be transferred to you. Once you sign them, you will officially-"

"Wait! What?", asked the long-haired guy irritably, now turning around. She could now see him, he looked distraught and that's when she saw, that his clothes were stained-with what seemed like blood. Before, she could say anything further the guy standing in front of her walked towards her.

"What the hell? Should something happen to Shivaay.", he said quoting her, "Are you out of your mind? Who the hell do you think you are? Shivaay is in the hospital and you are talking about some stupid legal document. Don't you dare say that"

Aryahi was shocked with the man's reaction. Well it wasn't like she hadn't been yelled at before. But she couldn't understand what this guy was yelling.

So instinctively, she held her hand up, signalling the guy to stop. "Mr. Oberoi", she said her voice but soft but firm, "Like I said before, I am a lawyer from RBA , and if you had let me finish what I was going to say, than maybe you I would have told you that your father Mr. Tej Singh Oberoi, had asked for these papers to be delivered to your house by tonight, and I am just doing my job-"

"What ?", the long-haired guy cut her again. "I don't believe that man. Listen, I don't have time for this right now. You can meet my Dad for all I care, but keep me out of this, I am not going to sign this, or for that matter anything that man asks."

"Damn it! She thought, this guy was going ballistic over a few papers which would give him control over, a multi billion dollar business empire. "I understand that this must be a tough time for you, but I believe that this is a practical solution. In any case, if you have a problem with these papers, please take it up with your dad" she said.

Omkara looked at the girl intently and he shook his head, "I am going to leave now, because I have somewhere else to be, and may be YOU should take this up with Mr.Tej Singh Oberoi". With this he walked away without looking back.

Aryahi was irked, stupid rich spoilt brat with daddy issues', she thought, if he is so dramatic and whiny, I wonder how his father would be'. She looked at her watch and sighed before she went off to find the older Oberoi. This was probably going to be the worst Friday night ever.

___

Omkara couldn't fathom what all had happened in the past few hours, his brother was poisoned, a random girl, who worked for his father, or was it for some firm who worked for his father, brought in papers that said that he would replace Shivaay as CEO of Oberoi Group. He was irked and to make things worse, his father came back with the same papers to him in the morning, and suggested the same thing, he said that if something had happened to Shivaay. He flinched even at the thought of that. He didn't understand how someone could someone as cruel and ruthless as his father. His thoughts took him back to the girl, although he didn't like that she suggested that something could happen to Shivaay, she was not related to them, she had no connection with the Oberois, and he remembered her saying that she was just doing her job. Her father, that evil man was behind all this, he was so pissed at his father's doings today that he even raised a hand on him right in front of his beloved grandmother. Like she said, she was just doing her job. He didn't even know why he remembered what she said, but he knew that if he didn't apologize to the girl, it would eat him up. He made a mental note to talk to Shivaay about the girl and her firm. But, his thoughts were interrupted with his younger brothers antics. Shivaay noticed that that Omkara was in a pensive mood.

"Is everything alright Om?, asked Shivaay

Omkara though for a moment, he didn't know if this was the right place and time to discuss what had just happened, but then he couldn't lie, not just to his brothers, but to anyone. He just didn't have that bone in him. He took a deep breath, and started, "Mr.Oberoi did something unbelievable, yet again". He then explained to his brother about what had happened in the last 15 hours.

Shivaay looked at him, and from his look Omkara understood that he approved of what Mr.Oberoi did. "Well, I could have really died, and you know that, and bade papa was just being practical, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that"

Omkara was annoyed, "What is with people and being practical? First it was Mr.Oberoi and then you, and even that girl was talking about being practical.

Rudra was interested in the conversation as soon as he heard the word girl'. He raise his eyebrows, and asked his brother, "So have you also met a girl in the hospital ?"

The other brothers looked at Rudra and in Unison, they said , "Shut up Rudra!"

Omkara continued about the girl he met and how he yelled at her, and now that he was thinking better, he realized that he shouldn't have.

"Don't bother yourself about it! If you feel that bad, just send her a gift card or something, I'm sure she would be happy" said Shivaay, "and anyway even if she may not be our employee, we still pay the firm for their services, and the firm pays her. So It's not a big deal"

Omkara nodded his head in disagreement, "I don't believe you. How can you be so casual about it? I'm feeling so guilty about my behavior and I need to apologize to her in person."

"Om, don't be silly! Don't forget that you are Omkara Singh Oberoi! You have a reputation to maintain and you can't just go apologizing to random people like that."

"Well, my conscience doesn't allow me to just send her a gift card and forget about it"

Shivaay was about to say something when Rudra, who had noticed that the argument would get intense if he didn't butt in, started complaining about how he to miss a date and his workout.

Sighing both the brothers turned their attention towards Rudra, their little kid.

___

"Are you stalking the Oberois?", Purvi asked her best friend, "No judgments", she added rolling her eyes.

"What?", said Aryahi shocked looking up from her laptop.

"Well you have been hooked on your laptop since the morning, and you have reading about them incessantly."

"Damn it! I thought I was being discreet in my search"

"With the rest of the firm, yes. With me, no", she smiled.

"Yea sure!", Purvi was definitely the queen of drama. Aryahi closed her laptop before dragging her friend into the supplies room, that was their spot every time they had to gossip.

"So, last night after the presentation I offered to drop off some documents at the Oberoi Mansion. Turns out the oldest one, in this generation was attacked and hospitalized and the papers were to transfer his powers to the next brother Omkara, who by the way is really rude and arrogant."

"Hmm... I heard about Shivaay in the news. It's really sad, a lot of Oberoi Industries depends on him. But wait, Omkara Singh Oberoi was rude and arrogant? Are you sure?"

"Well. That's not important. So the Oberois seem to be an old and really big clients of the firms, they have some 300 odd pending cases in the courts, all with this firm, and every time they acquire another company or start a new division we are their lawyers, and most of them are overseen by Rathod"

"So?

"So? Don't you get it P, If I can get myself assigned to at least a handful of these cases, and slowly get myself a retainer with the Oberois then-", she said excitedly

"Then maybe Rathod will see how good you are, and there is chance that he will support your promotion to a senior associate", said Purvi finally realizing what her friend was trying to say.

"Not just this promotion Dumbo! I think if I build a good rapport with the Oberois, I can also bring in more clients, and that would be a great career move for me.", she smiled.

"Wait more clients?"

"Well, yes. See this guy Shivaay, or whoever is going to get engaged to Tia Kapoor, of Kapoor Industries. And although, Kapoor Industries isn't as big as Oberoi Group of Industries, it's still a big company.

"A! For god's sake , the guy is in the hospital! Spare that guy! And wait doesn't Vick work for Kapoor industries? Why don't you just use his help?"

"Firstly, according to the news, the guy recovered this morning, and his fianc, Tia just tweeted that he would be discharged tomorrow. Secondly, I'm not going to take Vick's help because I don't mix my personal and professional lives.", she said crossing her arms.

"Whatever! Anyway how do you plan on doing that. You do know that Seema handles their cases right? She went to school with Shivaay so she is the one that does most of the work."

"I'm going to ask Cyrus to get me on to the case , he owes me one. Also I need your help. I need to know some stuff about the Oberois. Stuff that you don't really find in newspapers but people around you talk about. Like I have done enough research on them."

"Okay. So Prithiviraj Oberoi had two sons, and a daughter. I don't think anyone knows where the daughter lives anymore, she was kicked out of the house a few years ago I guess, no one really knows the reason, but probably some property dispute between her and her brothers.

"Joint Hindu family and property disputes with the daughter regressive much?"

Purvi continued, not bothering with her friend's comment, "The older brother Tej is the Chairman for Oberoi group of industries, calculated shrewd typical businessman married to-"

"Jhanvi Oberoi" Graduated from Harvard! Jhanvi graduated from Dartmouth. I know that stuff. Tell me something that I wouldn't find on the internet"

"Hmm.. Well he has an affair with his secretary, and like the whole of Mumbai knows about it but no one really speaks about it."

"Wow! Wonderful! and how on earth will that help me? DO you want me to go up to him and ask him, Hi. Mr. Oberoi how is your mistress.", she remarked sarcastically.

"Ugh! Sarcasm is really your middle name! Anyway you wanted my help", said Purvi

"I know, but give me some good information."

"The other brother Shakti isn't that involved in business but spends most of his time on spiritual stuff. The younger generation has four kids, Shivaay, Omkara, Rudra and Priyanka"

"Shivaay is a businessman, just like his uncle cold shrewd, Omkara-"

"The rude guy" she said.

"Omkara Singh Oberoi and rude, do NOT go in one sentence. I think you have the wrong guy. He is pretty down to earth guy, and an artist by profession."

"Really? You should have seen him screaming his lungs out at me. Anyway he's not a part of Oberoi Group. So, not interested."

"Rudra and Priyanka the youngest siblings are still in college."

"Okay, so if I need to get on to their cases, I need to focus on getting into the good books of Tej Singh Oberoi, Shivaay Singh Oberoi and their legal counsel."

"True, and may be try to focus on the cases which involve top management."

"Like their new pharma division", Aryahi said smiling, "okay! So I am going to take a look at their other cases and speak to Cyrus first thing in the morning tomorrow ."

With this the girls, got back to their cubicles in the bullpen. Aryahi was determined now to find a perfect case that she could handle and impress her bosses and the Oberois. She was putting a lot of efforts on this one, and she could only hope that things wouldn't go wrong.

Note- So did you guys like it? Or not? Please make sure to leave your comments/criticism . I know there isn't much too much Omkara in this part, but I promise that the next part will have a Omkara-Aryahi meeting.

Yayyy!! You updated!!! Awesome! Really enjoying what you are doing with Om's character. I could perfectly visualise him in that scene where he shouts at our protagonist! Liking the direction the story is taking. It's very believable, and has potential for a lot of drama and things going wrong!
Next time please update sooner! And thank you so much for the PM! 🤗

This is sooo good.
It is so good, that I had to open my long closed account to actually acknowledge how good this is--I like how she's absolutely oblivious to the Oberoi's and as soon as she finds out about them, she's isn't worried about getting the guys but how to further her career--that's some solid characterization (I hope that you keep it up in the future, her career come first for her--everything else takes backseat)

Honestly, though I've wanted Omkara to end up with a Lawyer since the induction of the show--because both Shivay and Rudra have their perfect opposites and then there is Omkara whose lead was going to confusing--seeing she needed to be someone good of heart but be on a morally opposite ground and seeing you establish that makes me so happy.

I can't wait to see where you take this.
