A very interesting post. I'd thought I share my viewpoint.
The Shivkara dynamic is the most fascinating to me because we're shown their arguments always arise from their contradicting viewpoints. However, to me their two sides on the same coin. Both can be gentle and kind while other times they can be cruel and unforgiving. The degrees vary depending on the situation, but their reaction to being challenged and conviction to "their truth" are the same. Sometimes Om seems like the compassionate one while other times it's Shivaay.
Emotionally, both of them seem extremely lost to me, but Om seems to have a little more hope left hence he's ability to trust so easily (Anika,Bela/Mala,Roop). However, once that trust is betrayed Om can just as cruel as Shivaay. We are shown that Om still sees the good in people while Shivaay seems more jaded about people and the perspective of love. I don't think Shivaay is as heartless as he likes to pretend to be. With both Om and Shivaay I get the feeling
that they willingly shut themselves off emotionally to others (with exception of Rudra and Dadi).
For Shivaay, lineage, money, and power is safe for him because it works. Being in his position he must have been exposed to the uglier side of people (both rich and poor) and he leans towards the pessimistic "the glass is half empty." Losing faith in people he spends all his time and effort keeping his family safe and together. Family aside people change and circumstance change, but his name and everything it provides stays constant. As pessimistic as he is Shivaay can just as understanding.
I abhor his behavior towards Anika and there is no excuse for that. I missed some episodes so how much of that was because his family was being harmed I can't say. His behavior then was horrible, but the reason for his dislike even after Anika's name has been cleared makes me doubt his dislike for her was based on her income status. He could just not like her because he just doesn't like her. Or maybe because she challenges him?
For Om, lineage, money, and power don't matter to him because to him people aren't defined by material things. Character is how he defines people and truth is the most important to him. From his experiences, he must have been exposed to the uglier side of people as well, but he chose to take a more optimistic"the glass is half full route." However, people aren't always honest and most cases people don't live up to our expectations. It takes a strong person to trust others, but it takes an even bigger person to forgive and attempt to understand others. Here is where Om is similar to Shivaay as he is just as unforgiving and cold. He also doesn't like his decisions/feelings being challenged in any form by anyone. As optimistic as he is he is also as rigid in his beliefs.
I find Rudra the most fascinating because we have only seen glimpses of the real him. He is immature, but he might the kindest out of all them. His innocence is best quality and probably what keeps him sane living with his family. He jokes, but he is always honest with everyone (even when he shouldn't be). He is straightforward and I like that about him. At times, he seems to be playing the fool just to keep the peace. Maybe he is comfortable not being in the foreground and enjoys providing the much needed relief. Like Om I don't think he is very fond of his dad, but he doesn't disrespect him openly.
All three brothers are different and alike in so many different ways. They are kind and flawed with so many layers and aspects to their personalities.I'm looking forward to seeing more.
