Let's see, what else was I going to blabber about... Oh right, the characters!
Shivay - He seems like your typical average "arrogant, loves to be rough with his other half, businessman," but he's not. Yes, he's an arrogant little shit who only understands money and status, but he's an arrogant little shit who owns up to that and recognizes that that's his thought process. But what I really like about him is that he always puts his family first and that he loves them all unconditionally. Plus, he's played by Nakuul Mehta who is simply amazing. I honestly didn't think that I could appreciate his chemistry with anyone other than Disha Parmar, but Surbhi Chandna is great, and I am in love with Shivika so... I thought wrong!
Omkara - Okay, I admit, I have a certain weak spot for artists. Something about them makes me go all "Zzz, system malfunction," but that's besides the point. I guess I like Om's characterization. I just think that he's a little too trusting, and that he has unrealistic expectations about life. Good isn't always good, and evil isn't always evil. (Learned that from a Disney show, don't judge me, Disney knows what it's talking about.) And I think this is what's really going to be his downfall in life. But Kunal Jaisingh is doing an amazing job, and I really missed seeing him onscreen. The long hair took a little bit of getting used to, but it eventually grew on me.
Rudra - He is self absorbed, dramatic, reliant on his family's status and money... But he's absolutely adorkable so I can't hate him. I'm not denying that he's got a shit ton of growing up to do, but I like his childishness. I mean, I love character development, but I like his childishness. Plus, I love Leenesh Mattoo with all my heart and I think that he's absolutely fantastic!
Anika - Can I just say that love the female leads on this show so very much? Anika is very dramatic and kind of OTT, but that's what I love about her! She has a good head on her shoulders, she has strong morals, and I really like that she'll stand her ground against Shivay. She has a lot pressure on her, she's practically raising a kid on her own, and I admire that she takes it all in stride. Surbhi is doing an amazing job, and I'm glad that she was given a character who won't get completely butchered or tossed to the side.
Ishana - I love that she's a con artist, she is actually one of the most original characters to ever grace the land of daily soaps. Is it wrong that she's playing with two people's feelings to get what she wants? Yes, it most certainly is, and I'm not condoning her behavior at all, whatsoever. It's just that I think that Ishana was raised to be a survivor, to try to get what she wants, and get rid of of all her obstacles. I honestly just think that she's a victim of bad parenting and having the worst possible influences ever, and from what I've gathered so far, she didn't really have a mother figure growing up either. What I really want, is for Anika to sort of be that mother figure for her. I want Anika to be her good influence, and I want a goddamn Anika-Ishana scene! Vrushika in my opinion is doing great, I fudging adore her and she's so talented.
Soumya - She's still just a kid. I know that Soumya is supposed to be very mature for her age, but at the end of the day, she's still a kid like Rudra. She's going to make mistakes and do stupid things, and I have a feeling that she will most definitely own up to them. That's all I have to say about Soumya. And I think Neha's just the most adorable creature on the planet!
Priyanka - I don't know if anyone's going to agree with me on this, but Priyanka for me is the most relatable character on the show, and by far my favorite! She's shy, she's quiet, she has really high standards to live up to because of who her family is and she feels a lot of pressure because of that... And self esteem issues. I can relate to her in so many ways, and I really hope that her character is explored and given some actual recognition. Plus, does anyone else find the fact that she wear traditional clothes a little refreshing. Now hear me out. I find traditional clothes to be troublesome, and I only put them on like a twice a year. Also, I would wear sweat pants to the frickin' Oscars so... Anyway, in previous shows, the sister's always been bratty and into brand names, and I just find it a little refreshing that Priyanka's not like that.
Side Note: Does anyone else crack up when they see Surbhi and Neha together? Just because Surbhi played Neha's daughter on Qubool Hai.
Bottom line is, this show is so very unique, it has an amazing cast, and it always keeps me interested. These characters are all flawed in some way, and I love that about them because it just makes everything very imperfectly perfect!
