UNEXPECTED PROPOSAL
Annika's POV
Lying against the soft matress I was watching the roof quietly. It had been hours he asked me those words but its effect on me hadnt lessen a bit. My heart was pacing as fast as it had whe he had said thay I would be the one sitting beside him on mandap on wedding day.
He must be joking. I assured myself. Why on the whole earth he would marry me. Neither do I posses a Royal name , Nor Im one of those highest paying bolywood actress.
I pulled my blanket closer and covered my face. I hoped It would induce my sleep centre.
I took a deep breath and calm down my mind.
He was definitely joking. I remembered how I had kept my conditions that he would act normal and crack jokes sometims but I never knew he would take it seriously.
But then he never took the pain to utter 'sorry' and 'thankyou' to me. Why would he be even jest with a mere employee.
I squeezed my eyes shut. This instead framed my thoughts into more visible scenes.
I could not stand more sleepless nights hence I decided not to face him for few days.
Next day I reached the entry of oberoi mansion and give a small peek to ensure Mr shivay singh Oberoi wasnt near my vision. I happily entered and looked for any oberoi other than him. The mansion rather seemed deserted. I walked past the door to reach the dining section, expecting Rudra and Saumya with their usual morning rebuffs. I was so much used to it. Unfortunately I was late to witness it.
"You are exactly one hour late Ms Annika" I heard someone and turned in reflex to face the kitchen.
I was displeased. According to my calculation he should have left for office by now. I looked at the giant wall clock and it seemed perfect with its speed.
" You arent supposed to be standing here right now. Isnt it Billu ji" I almost blubbered out still watching the clock.
"You seemed disappointed" He smiled uncannily.
"Why would I?" I mentally slapped myself for my overreaction.
" well, I have taken a few days leave to see the wedding preparations." He informed.
"Why" I felt like screaming but I asked softly.
"Cause Im the groom and its my wedding. If you remember" He lifted one of his eyebrows looking straight to me..
He just taunted me. I felt relaxed a bit . He was acting complete sane.
"Follow me. Lets start from my room" he ordered and approached to the stairs.
I took out the diary and pen and ran after him. He walks unusually faster and I always left behind.
" I think we should get the walls painted" shivay said as soon as we entered his room.
I simply nodded and jotted down his latest demand.
" which colour would you prefer?" He asked gazing at the walls and my fingers stopped writing.
Did he just asked for my suggestion. I lifted my face from diary abd stared at him. He had his eyes over the walls inspecting it for something.
"Blue" I uttered surprisingly.
"Ok then, its blue" he didnt take a whole second to reply back.
" what the hell is happening?" I pinched myself not once or twice but numerous times to check I wasnt sleeping.
Even in my luckiest dream I hadnt seen Mr Sso agreeing to my words..
I landed out of my thoughts to find myself alone. He had already left for other location.
I exited hurriedly to find him. After taking a marathon of whole mansion I found him inside the store room.
" we can use this room for storing gifts and other necessities for wedding" I suggested huffing.
" No.This place is special . I have planned to turn this into a playroom." He said.
I laughed hard but then suppressed soon as he threw me a what-is-so-funny-init look.
"Well I have heard of Dj s at parties but never heard of playrooms" I chuckled lazily.
"Playroom is Post wedding necessity Ms Annika" He laughed back " for our baby"
I froze very next moment.Did he said our baby. I wriggled my head to confirm my ears were functional.
"Are you out of you mind Mr Oberoi?" I was serious this time." You should stop joking around. You are too bad at it"
" I think I havent cracked any yet"
" why would it be our baby" I asked frustrated of his behaviour
" as much as I know there need to have an equal contributions of both husband and wife to make a baby" He sounded as if explaining a recipe to me.
" exactly Mr Oberoi it would be you and your wife.why me?'
"Cause you will be my wife.Didnt I just clear myself yesterday?'
"Why will I marry you" my eyes narrowed.
"Because we love each other" he uttered effortlessly.
"When did I said that?" I wrecked my brain to remember if I was in coma or had some disease like amentia.
"You didnt but I know" he walked towards me.
" You assume things a lot" I found him standing closer to me.
"Really?" He drooped his face to me so that he was looking at my eyes.
" Isnt it true that you come early to work and leave late for home to get my glance before leaving for office and after returning?...werent you the one who was sobbing when I escape the accident but got injured...Dont you feel jealous seeing me and Tia together and leave early when Tia comes to home?" His voice was more like accusations.
I was confronted to my own questions from which I had been running for long. It was difficult to subdue my own feelings but I had managed it anyway. Today I was trapped again between head and heart.
" I should leave." This was only thing I could utter.I had never felt this much short of words.
I tried to pace out but felt a strong grip resisted me.
"Dont be a coward Annika. You are not someone who run away from situations. Are you?" He slowly pulled me to him.
I still couldn't mustered thr courage to look in his eyes. He cupped my eyes and made me look up. His orbs were intense yet peaceful. No anger. No vanity.
" I love you Annika" he kissed my forehead.
"Do you?" He touched his nose to mine.
I nodded in response. I tried to speak but his lips were fast enough to catch mine and my heart beat matched his.
