Chapter 1 Signs of Anguish

Omkara Oberoi knew when something was off with his family and he knew the mannerisms that changed when something happened and he was worried when he had to see his best friend/sister in law Anika pace around the dining area like a wounded lioness.

Something had happened and he could notice the tears and the frown on her usually cheery face. He wanted to approach her and ask her what is going on but he stopped when she got a phone call and headed off into her room in tears, all whilst trying to stay optimistic

It was concerning to Om but he put it away at the back of his head for the moment. He decided to follow her into her room thinking she might be in trouble, after all he noticed signs of anguish better than anybody he walks in to hear the last part of the conversation between Anika and Tia. Do what ever you want to do Tia he heard her scream into the phone and hang up and saw her slump into the couch in tears.

Though Om wasn't great at helping with emotions he could gauge her hurt as if something big happened he went sat by her and whispered to her trying to comfort her Anika maine abhi tumhe niche rote hue dakha please batao na kuch hua hai kya? She looks at him pools of tears flooding into her pretty hazel eyes and only whispering Sahil and family over and over not knowing what to say .. Om was shocked and pulled her into a comforting hug urging her to say something which she starts narrating incoherently

Flashback

Tia- Anika you took away everything I loved and cared about you took away the one i loved. you should actually worry about yourself darling.

Anika - What do you mean Tia? kya karne wall ho??

Tia- Simple honey tumhari dukhti nas pe vaar karna hai mujhe.. your weakness is in my hands.. Sahil is with me... One wrong move from you will make your life miserable darling ... *Sadistic Laugh* Listen to me well Anika Oberoi, You will be implicated in a business scandal and you will not be able to do anything about it Nothing !! when and where you wait and watch ... till then Sahil is going to be with me !!

Anika-Ok. Don't hurt Sahil please I beg of you Tia ( tears pooling into her eyes) Don't do anything..

Tia- You will never know what hit you Anika the hurt you caused me will come back to you in immense manner .

Anika - Do What you want Tia (She screams and hangs up the phone)

Flashback Over

More tears spring up into Anika's eyes and she mumbles hiding her face in her hands what wrong did my baby brother do everything hurts Om everything hurts so much right now I don't know what to do anymore I had a piece of good news for the family but I don't think it matters anymore she goes gets a copy of her medical records and hands it to Om and rambles this is what I was going to tell everyone at dinner tonight your brother and I we are going to have a baby I wanted to make this a special day but I don't want to tell anything to anyone anymore not at the risk of everyone hating me for the trouble I am causing them

Om looks at her shocked & is getting slightly angry at her stubbornness and he yells at her for the first time in years shocking himself and Anika and he exclaims So just like you always do you will bottle up your feelings right Anika I have a question for you though does bhai know about the baby? he sees Anika shake her head negative and he gets angrier God damnit woman for once stop being a superhero trying to protect us , you have to tell bhai about this Tia thing and the baby also no one hates you He says with his expressions softening and he looks straight into her eye and takes a promise from her you have to tell bhai about this Anika we can help you .

At what cost ? Anika whisper yells and adds Tia is out to make my life miserable so why should I give anyone any hope and joy when everything is almost over?
