Chapter 3
Note: I will not be sending pms for this update or any other until my vacations due to limited internet and battery dies out fast.
Annika sat on the table with her hand on the head, with a frustrated look on her face.
" There is not even an entire week left for the opening and I don't even have a cook for my restaurant, I can't be serving people of aloo puri and kale channe. But what should I do I am taking interviews for the past two hours but it looks like everyone in Mumbai has forgot how to cook." Annika said to herself irritated
A knock on the door sounded
" must be another so called chef", Annika thought
She opened the door and what she saw shocked her, thinking she was dreaming she shut the door and once again the bell rang, she opened it and there was the same sight. Shivaay Singh Oberoi was standing infront of her eyes, no a smiling Shivaay Singh was standing infront of her eyes.
" Why are you here", she asked bluntly
" I don't have a job, I need one", he said casually
" What didn't you own Mumbai's largest business empire", she asked sarcastically
" I never owned it my family did", he corrected her
" I don't do the business that you do, so please leave", Annika said with a hope that he would get out.
" Priyu said you need a cook", Shivaay stated
" And you will cook", Annika asked sarcastically
" Why can't I, because I am a guy, because I was born in a rich family?", question Shivaay
" I don't care whether you can or cannot, you are still not qualified for the job", Annika said firmly
"Why?", asked Shivaay stated
"Will the great Shivaay Singh Oberoi take orders from a girl who doesn't know her surname", Annika asked him
"Yes", Shivaay said with determination
"You think after making every possible effort of destroying my life I would want to work with you. Do you think I will forgive you so easily?", She asked him in anger
" I don't expect your forgiveness. I just want to help you and myself. I get a job you get a cook we both are happy.", Shivaay stated
"First I want to see whether you can really cook.", Annika told him
" What do you want for lunch?", questioned Shivaay
" Aloo puri as good as mine", Annika replied sure that Shivaay would disagree immediately
"Okay", he replied
" Aloo puri, you need to make aloo puri, not pasta, that aloo puri that you never wanted to eat." Annika told him making sure he understood
" I know", Shivaay voiced with a how-dumb-you think-Iam look in his eyes.
" You can't take anyone's help, not the internet, not a friend, not a siblings, neither mine.", Annika stated hoping he would back off
" that's perfectly fine, I guess the kitchen is there.", Shivaay told her and without continuing the conversation further Shivaay left to start his task.
----------------------
"I don't believe bhaiya agreed, he agreed to work under a middle class girl. A girl that doesn't have name, money or power.", Rudra said still shocked that his brother had agreed to the offer.
" For the first time it feels we know nothing about Shivaay." Omkara replied equally in shock of yesterday's happenings when his elder brother agreed to the proposal, he thought his younger brother would get a smack on the head on the advice but what he heard was, "that sounds good", from his elder brother's mouth. He wasn't just okay with it, it sounded Good and mind you there was a smile on his face.
"Do you think Annika Di will agree?", Asked Rudra
" The way Shivaay behaved with her the last time, I doubt it, but if she gets to know the Shivaay that we do, her hatred will vanish." Replied Omkara with a smile
----------------------
A delicious aroma filled the house, a person who just had they lunch would begin to feel hungry once again if they were to passby. Annika couldn't deny how divine the smell was, but she hoped that the food wouldn't be good to taste, she didn't want to do anything with Shivaay Singh Oberoi.
" How long do you take, Sahil will be coming home from school, I don't want to keep him hungry.", Annika shouted
"All done", stated Shivaay keeping the dish infront of her
It looked beautiful, the puris were perfectly round, golden yellow in colour and blown up with all the excess oil removed. The dark brown gravy admits it golden yellow pieces of potato sat in the white dish. Annika looked at it as if it was the eighth wonder of the world.
Annika's POV
Shivaay Singh Oberoi would cook. Correction Shivaay Oberoi could cook aloo puri that looked and smelled lip smacking good. I served myself some in the plate, breaking a piece of puri and dipping it into the main dish I bit on it hoping there would be something wrong. But no this had to be the best aloo puri that I ever had, honestly, it was even better than the best I had ever made. The gravy was spicy with a hint of sourness. The potatoes could to perfection. The puri crispy yet soft. How on Earth do I reject this. Taking all my effort I pushed back the plate, nearly yelling at him how bad it was. He didn't say a word and I continued my rant and suddenly Mr. Kanchi Ankho wala baggad billa bursts out laughing, a full care free laugh, he kept on laughing until tears didn't come to his eyes, he wiped them before it fell. Then controlling laughter he asked me "if it was the bad why did you lick the entire dish clean",saying that he once again began to laugh hysterically. I felt so stupid, but it wasn't my fault that the dish had been so irresistible.
End of POV
" I am hungry," announced Sahil entering the house
" Here," said Shivaay handing the little boy a plate of aloo puri, "your didi finished most of it but I had saved up some earlier for you", said Shivaay holding his laugh looking at annika
"Mmm you made it better than Di", said Sahil
"Really?", said Shivaay happy as if someone told him he won the business man of the year award
"Even I can make this, do you think I will be serving just one dish in my restaurant", Annika told
"You were the one who told me to make it.", Shivaay reminded her
"And you don't a brain to think about this angel on your own, and you want this job" Annika told him determined not to give up
" What would you like", Shivaay asked her
"What would you like", Shivaay asked this time to Sahil instead
" aloo pratha", replied the little boy smacking his lips
" pura khandan sirf aloo khata hai." Shivaay asked himself
" Okay", replied Shivaay heading towards the kitchen once again
" I will make food for my brother you need not worry.", replied Annika stopping him from entering the kitchen.
" My interview is going on here not yours", Shivaay said removing her hand that blocked his path.
----------------------------------
"O, Shivaay bhai is not back yet from Annika Di's place", Rudra nearly yelled as he opened the door to Omkara's room only to find Ishana inside
"Rudra, why are you telling Omkara about Shivaay, his anger will rise again if he hears you", Ishana asked confused about her deevar's statement yet scarred of her husband's anger after his yesterday's outburst.
" What's going on here", What's going on here questioned Omkara coming out of the washroom
" Nothing at all", replied Ishana
" I heard Shivaay's name", Omkara said
" Aap ne thik sunna O, main ne bhai ka naam liya, and why shouldn't I, he is my brother, this is my house as much as yours and I will take however's name I like" Rudra said with fake anger and walked out of the room before he would burst out laughing.
---------------------------------
Annika's POV
once again a delicious aroma fills my house, I had eaten all that aloo puri and this smell makes me hungry for more food. I wonder if I should just give him the jobs he doesn't cook anymore food. Because if his cooking kept smelling that good and I'd keep eating it, I will soon weigh as much as an elephant. No No anything will do but I never want to see that Baggad Billa ever again. I see that cat walking out of the kitchen with a plate staked with the prathas. He walks right past me literally shoving that plate near my nose. I am so sure he had done that on purpose. I almost wanted to grab a piece and stuff it in my mouth right then, but somehow I held my hands behind my back. He goes and offers Sahil. I try to warn my younger brother not to eat it and he does see me and hesitates pick one up but I guess the smell semmed so irresistible that he ignored me and picked one up, looking at my younger brother bite into the perfectly round paratha I silently hope for it to taste bad but to my disappointment he happily smiles telling Shivaay Singh Oberoi business man turned chef that it was the best he ever had and within a minute he picks up a second one and starts eating.
End of POV
"Are you sure you don't want one", Shivaay asked her
"How?", Annika questioned
"How?",Shivaay asked with a confused look
"How did you make it, Shivaay Singh Oberoi how would never eat aloo pratha and aloo puri made it." Annika asked narrowing her eyes at him
"I don't but my brothers do, I love cooking so I used to make it for them", Shivaay told her hoping that she wouldn't catch his lie.
Shivaay's POV
All of a sudden she ask me how do I know to cook these dishes when I don't prefer even eating them. I fumble for a reply and then I remember the two most beloved people in my life my younger brothers and I give her the explanation. I couldn't exactly tell her that I had spied on her and got to know her favourite dishes and had been learning it for the past one year. She looks at me angrily, I know she wants to kick me out but she is too nice to do that. I don't want to trouble her but I want to help her, I don't want a forgiveness because I know I don't deserve it. I don't want her love I know I am not worth it. I just want to make sure a smile always adorns her face.
