Subhan Allah. I too came here to ask about the same thing. we eat on floor here as a tradition. But I don't think this has anything to do with Islamic rules! The only thing I know is that we are forbidden from eating while standing or laying (except for patients) . but if we sit on a chair or even on a bed ..I can't see why is it wrong?!😕

I think he just does it as sunnah, coz prophet Muhammad (SAAWS) ate on floor only.😊

i myself was curious too. Even though i don't want kabir to change, i do wonder if he'll ever sit at the table one day and eat with zara

I think you are right. but in the time of prophet Muhammad (SAAWS) ppl use to live a simple life and eat on floor, only kings and rulers had the luxury of sitting to a table, or beds while eating. And prophet was a modest man. he used to sleep on floor to..so why doesn't Kabeer do the same

This may help
Matters which may move beyond spontaneous human actions to the field of legislation (being prescribed in Islam) because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) persisted in doing them in a certain manner. These include matters of eating, drinking, dressing and sleeping, especially those concerning which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave specific guidance. The correct view is that these are included in matters which are prescribed in Islam.
It is mustahabb (recommended, encouraged) for the Muslim to follow the example of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in the matters mentioned in the question, i.e., eating and drinking (seated) on the ground, but there is no sin in eating at a table. With regard to clothing, the Muslim is commanded to dress in Muslim clothes and to dress differently than the mushrikeen.

Here is the link to the post for detailed view.

@bold, shadi ki baad woh bhi karne lag gaya hai. 😆

If that's the case, let's wait for Zara to ask the question then compare eating to sleeping on the floor...let's see what Kabir (or the CVs) come up with?

It's sunnah to eat on floor and about kabir using bed to sleep. Its not that you have to follow all Sunnah', try to follow as much sunnahs as u can
He did said to Abu that he developed this habit of eating on floor in madarsa n he wont change it
Even we sit on floor n eat but not ardently like kabir :P

Prophet Muhammad (SAAWS) used to sit in floor and eat.Whatever HE does is considered as Sunnah. That's why kabeer maintains it.
Scientifically,it has a link to the digestion of your food if you sit at floor folding legs as it gives a balanced pressure to your stomach. If you analyze then you will get to know,Islam has all its answer logically and clinically.
Hope you got your answer
