After watching yesterday's episode, many of us mused...
Vansh has become an idiot.
We were all upset to see Vansh, the man who once displayed such fierce intelligence to be defeated easily by Kabir.
Where is the mafia don?
Where is the sharp business tycoon?
However, today, suddenly, I had an interesting thought.
Please note, whatever I am going to say right now will hold true provided Vansh is not the mastermind that many of us want him to be. If he is one, and if he and Riddhima had been together all along, then my opinions here will not be of much value. My post is limited to what has been shown so far clearly. Assuming that Vansh still does not know about Ridhbir, let's proceed.
The question is...
Why did Vansh trust Riddhima so much till the end?
Let's rewind, shall we?
Back in episodes 3-4, when Vansh met Riddhima in the cruise, he had a doubt. Yeh ladki kuch toh chhupa rahi hain.
He sent Angre to find out, but just at the nick of time, Kabir cleared up all evidence. (At this moment, there is one phone conversation where Vansh says Toh yeh hain sachhai iska...which hints at him knowing everything all along. But let's put that aside for now.)
Point is, Vangre was shown to have found nothing substantial against Riddhima.
Still, Vansh's doubts were not silenced. Whether due to his suspicion alone or perhaps bcoz of an unspoken attraction in his heart for her, he forced Riddhima to work for Siya. At home, he followed her closely, doubting her every move. To make matters worse, Riddhima ended up doing something that triggered events, making her an object of suspicion in front of the whole family.
She even got caught multiple times with the transmitter, red cloth with nails and the mobile tracker. But each time, Kabir saved her and Riddhima narrowly escaped.
Unable to pinpoint what exactly was wrong with her, Vansh made another trap. He forced her to marry him. He probably thought, with marriage, it would be easier to make her submit.
Meanwhile, Shera went missing. Vansh suspected Riddhima, but she saved the day with her presence of mind during her mehendi. Later, Vansh probably was expecting her to run away with the pendrive, but much to his surprise, Shera was discovered right under his nose and Riddhima came back to marry him!
For the first time, Vansh was left perplexed. But he didn't stop.
After marriage, Vansh laid a second trap with Dsouza. But each time, Riddhima managed to escape unscathed.
Be it in Teej or calling Kabir for Satte using Dsouza's phone, Vansh suspected her for the right reasons and yet failed to get catch her red-handed. Even Dsouza's plan did not bear much fruit.
Riddhima maintained a consistent stance that she only wants to know about Ragini bcoz she was his wife and also, bcoz she wanted justice, nothing else. This was confirmed by Dsouza too.
Vansh trapped Riddhima again for the third time when she spied about his mother. This time, she almost got caught in his web. Scared out of her wits, she sent an SOS signal to Kabir. And, for the first time, Vansh got something substantial against her.
He made a foolproof plan this time to trap her and the mastermind behind her. He brought Sunny into the game. But Riddhima was careful enough not to disclose Kabir's name.
Vansh continued to play along, using fear tactics, but nothing could make Riddhima admit she was a spy.
At last, Vansh prepared for the ultimate showdown to catch Kabir. He threatened to harm Riddhima using Ragini's diary...but just when he thought victory was near...
Bam!
Kabir shot Riddhima and turned the tide of the game, as well as his life. Forever.
And much to Vansh's shock, destroying his every gameplan, Riddhima came forward to take the bullet to save him!
For the second time, Vansh was flabbergasted. What just happened! Who shot her? Where was Riddhima's partner? Why did she save him?
The whole incident left him confused, and perhaps, somewhere he began to have second thoughts. Is Riddhima really a spy? Bcoz, if she is, then why did her partner not come to rescue her when he sent him a message? Besides, so far, he didn't find anything concrete against her...did he?
This feeling strengthened in him with each passing day, as he grew closer to Riddhima. One by one, she went through life-threatening attacks, and with each such incident, he got to know her more and more, and gradually gave up his doubts. He hesitated to trust her completely as was his nature...but at the same time, realized her innocence, triggering his feelings. His emotioms reached an all time high during Ishani's wedding, where he realized he had fallen for her, and indirectly confessed his feelings.
Vansh's heart was at peace.
Riddhima was no spy. She was perhaps just an inquisitive person who liked to poke her nose into matters.
His faith got shaky after his return from Dubai, but once again, his love triumphed and he let his doubts subside gradually post Navratri.
But peace was short-lived.
Soon after, Ragini's history raised its head. And Riddhima became restless all over again.
This time, Vansh felt that maybe it is the insecure wife in Riddhima that wanted to know about his ex. Ishani's footage drove him mad momentarily, and all his old doubts about her being a spy came back.
But soon, he realized, Riddhima's persistence about Ragini is mainly bcoz of miscommunication between them and she only wanted to stop him from committing a heinous crime (which is actually true). That is why, he decided to break the ice and disclosed everything about his mom to settle the issue once and for all. And their relationship began to float all over again.
In other words, right from the beginning till yesterday's episode, we see one recurring pattern.
Something happens.
Vansh doubts Riddhima's intentions.
He lays a trap and nearly catches her.
But whether it is due to Kabir or her luck or her presence of mind, Riddhima always manages to escape narrowly.
And Vansh is left with no substantial evidence against her.
This goes on and on and on. On a loop.
Perhaps, bcoz of the constant lack of evidence, Vansh is forced to conclude that Riddhima is no spy, just a curious person. And with each such incident, his trust on her strengthens.
This is why, in last few episodes, everytime someone said something against Riddhima, he'd dismiss that as a misunderstanding. He didnt want to repeat his past mistake of not trusting his wife and ruining their now blissful marriage. Afterall, true love has come to him after much pain.
But then again. Peace was not to come so easily in his life.
It was only after he saw concrete evidence, especially Angre's footage that he finally accepted Riddhima was a spy. This time he had no other option. Every evidence, every circumstances, every person was speaking against her.
At last, he conceded. Riddhima, you were a spy afterall. Everything you did was a lie. Your love, your concern was a lie.
And like always, he misunderstood her again. At first when he thought she was innocent. And now, when he thinks she is a culprit.
P.S. - I understand that my explanation somewhere makes Vansh appear to be less intelligent that we presumed him to be. But going by general ITV trend, I dont think a less intelligent Vansh is too off the mark.
