Have you watched Raazi?
In that movie, the father of the main female lead gets her married to the country's enemy for spying.
Can you label the father as the villain now?
Thing is both the daughter and father's Love for country was bigger than any one or any relation.
Some people like RAW agents can go any limit to save one's country. RidhBir maybe fall under that category if we go by face value. But its totally unfair to Label Kabir as villain for this reason. Remember Riddhima is equally involved.
Surely, I have watched Raazi. But rishta different hai. Waha baap beti ka relation tha. And yahaan lovers ka relation hai. Dono relationships ko compare nahi kar sakte, because dono ke situations different the.
When it comes to Sehmat and her father, Sehmat knew her father was a deshbhakt, she knew how much serving the country mattered to him, she has heard and seen it since she was a child. She was a patriot herself. In a father-daughter relationship, there is that much trust that whatever my father is choosing for me is the best for me, and I should abide by that because it was for the greater good for the nation. The time was also different - 1971. Usually, children followed what their parents wanted for them. Aajkal ka time nahi hai. Aajkal log kahenge that parents should never impose their thoughts and aspirations on their children, that is wrong. This discussion was very limited back then.
In this show, there are issues. Riddhima is shown as an orphan who has mostly lived her life alone, unlike Sehmat who had a very sheltered life. Riddhima is in love with a man, who did not disclose his identity when he got involved with her. He lied. In Sehmat's case, she knew her father did work for the country, maybe not too much in detail. Riddhima gets to know in less than 24 hours that the man she loves is a CBI agent, is after this guy named VR who is a criminal and his biggest "enemy". A normal woman in this situation would take her time to process the information, to have doubts about her man, to be angry or probably question him, but no, Riddhima did not. Then Kabir straight ahead without a thought asks her to spy for him, asks her to get real close to his enemy, he wants someone outside the agency to spy for him, Riddhima is stunned and questions him, but he tells her you have to do it for my love. I have an issue with both Riddhima and Kabir here. Which boyfriend does this to a girlfriend who just came to know his truth? Which girlfriend having reservations against this job still goes ahead and does it?
I beg to differ @sumz_d. I am judging both Riddhima and Kabir here. VR did not forcefully enter Riddhima's life. Kabir pushed her into this. And when Riddhima had the chance, she did not leave it. Kabir whether he is villain or hero did use Riddhima, and Riddhima allowed it to happen. Sorry, should have mentioned it in the 1st post, dimaag me abhi likhte likhte aaya. VR and Kabir have something which is more than professional, because, for Kabir, VR is not "desh ka dushman", but he is "mera dushman". Why? Well, that we have to wait and see. Anyway, that is my opinion, no intention to offend anyone.
