Christmas 2016... peace and goodwill on earth..

Yes I lived 25^th December 2016 according to tradition

Presents, family, neighbors , hosting, being guest ,

partying , living the hype ! glad it's over !

end of shopping, queuing at tills, stuck in traffic jams!

overseas family phone greetings!

Now all is quiet and still... respite, peace

my toddler niece and nephew tucked away in bed

their safe haven, till the dark night is over and morning dawns

One in a lion king pajamas ! and one as Elsa from Frozen.. sweet children..

The nativity was all about baby Jesus, born in stable..

The Christian scriptures write, angels sang of peace and goodwill on earth!

Peace and good will? I ask myself.. children... child I muse,

it was about a baby soon to become a refugee...

In the security of my home this wintery night I settle with a hot latt..

peace and good will upon earth! My mind delves over the concept of Christmas

At last my eyes turn to the nightly catch up of world news on my television

Peace and good will on all earth! ...has anything changed on the world front?

Naught! No peace and good will in Syria...images of Aleppo's future generation

traumatized children, displaced , orphaned, disturbed by deafening, deathly noises,

flee little children! flee!!run for refuge!

Will this human capital! This future generation...survive?

Peace and good will on earth.. does hope still subsist?

Will compassion soften hardened hearts?

At Christmas 2016 peoples of the world from diverse faiths, beliefs , communities

Unite in the message of Peace and good wiil on earth

that the heavens rang with and angels sang off

On the birth of Jesus in the little town of Bethlehem .

Let us think about ways to fight the extinction of our world families

Be blessed with your families at this Christmas time.
