Why am I still watching IKRS ?

Can I even call it watching when for the past few weeks I have been skipping episodes , the ones that I watch I fast forward the You-Know-Who sections and at times even press the mute button when You-Know-who gets abused .

I truly gave it a deep thought as I honestly spend a good part of my productive day thinking of the show , participating on the forum , discussing , fretting , hitting the chaska meter and responding to so many posts and friends. Is that the only attraction or is there something else.

A diagnosis was required and I questioned as to why would any reasonable person watch this show.

The Concept . Widow remarriage with a backdrop of Benaras. We all know what happened to that Within 6 months. its all gone and done with.

The male protagonist . He was new for me but to a lot of us he is a well respected actor and his return was much awaited. A lot of us believe though not entirely agree that this role is a shadow of what he played before and this may not be his best .

Great story telling . Twists and turns that keep the viewer engaged . Tracks that build up well and executed superbly . This show can definitely take a few lessons on this one.

The lead characters . Viplav and Dhani who are constantly made a scape goat of by the writers. Brave Dhani turns chicken and intelligent Viplav turns dumb.

The romance . A solid scoring point but if the story is week how can a show stand on just hugs and kisses. they become boring after a while.

Indeed , current logic says that it is a waste of time and to cut ones losses and move on. And then an episode as today (05/22) happens ..just at the nick of time when you have given up on every little hope you had and this is where it struck me.

My belief, faith and hope in the Viplav -Dhani's love story is what keeps me hanging on. I so desperately want them to succeed , beat all odds and stand up against those nay sayers and declare that nothing can part them . the vows they have taken are for keeps and they are One.

Viplav soon will be at crossroads , is it his Love or his family. If he follows Dhani without his family he will not be happy and if with his family then cannot be happy without Dhani . Which path will he choose ? And Dhani who unknowingly has let him down today will she understand his turmoil . Will they both live thru the good and the bad ? they have made a promise to do so ..Right ?

And here I say it - ITS MY ISHQ WITH ISHQ THAT KEEPS ME HOOKED . Taking the good and the bad and my sworn love to stick by it for as long as it takes.

This is me and what I think . What is your reason ? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Hey Premparbat...
Well said. YEsterday was an eventful episode... and you know what I can tolerate the new Tripurari too. He may not be as hunky as daksh,... but I think he has the attitude right.

Also... I am eager to see how vidhaa take on this. Will their trust remain... or will they go on a break?
Or will they show to be on a break and dig out the dirt.

Going on a break ... that will be cliched... standing up together and taking on the evil will be a grt msg to the society. Afterall how many soaps do talk like that?

Foremost... I would want viplav to understand kamini doesnt mean gud for his relationship with his wife... and in the true viplav way tell her in plain words that she can never take dhaniz place in his life. That will at least bring an end to her constant tagging with vidhaa.
Secondly... I really want vidhaa to spend some quality time in the ashram... because its only there that the sane minds work. that will give both of them some sense of space and togetherness.

I really want IKRS to move out of the cliched story telling and put bold steps fwd... TRP or no TRP... i maintain... good soaps will be always remembered. and the more it drags ... the more we lose interest and move on to fresher stories.

:)

i agree with ur every word...it's my ishq with ishq that keeps me hooked...

My belief, faith and hope in the Viplav -Dhani's love story is what keeps me hanging on.
so true...
this is why i do not want any MUs between vidha at this stage...death is the only thing that can separate them(only physically)...hope they don't spoil vidha trust and bonding just for the sake of bringing separation...

Great post..
Y do I watch this soap? Have to say it's easy to get intrigued about s widow's remarriage with dashing hero.

But what got me hooked is the characterization of male lead. It's very unique he is not a usual handsome brooding one with a tragic past who are easy to empathize with. A Spoil brat born with silver spoon. Fair, Good, considerate and loving. For me he broke all the stereotype of what a successful hero should be. A man next door who could be extraordinary. Love his positive outlook towards life.

1st time watching Mishal Raheja work. No need to elobrate how great he acts as VIP. Nobody could justice to VIP. Even in the current track which shows him to be dumb it's his touch that makes us root for this character.

Eisha.. How far she has come in her journey as dhani. As new comer she is doing great work and yesterday she stole the show.
Other casts are brilliant in their portrayal. It's hard to watch the current track with so many villains esp km. Need to remove her. I am hoping we get to see a growth in VIP and he finds the truth about his family.

I feel separation will dilute vidha would like to see them together unmask the truth even with mu. Hope to see this show and the cast get their dues.

Why am I still at it and in all good faith will still be till it ends?
I really don't have a definite answer for this coz I can't put my finger on why this show has enchanted me so far so I guess it must be a combination of different effects
At first what lured me to this show was the unique concept and the delicious chemistry between the leads
I was totally taken in by the Big Bad Boy of Benaras with an attitude spelled with a capital A and in contrast the demure but at the same time a fiery Dhani who gave him back full pelt. From thereon the story proceeded and I was hooked .
Along the way the narrative suffered much and the characters did not seem consistent. but still I hung on sometimes cursing and sometimes moaning. But every evening I could not help but switch on the telly.
What I think now is that perhaps with all it's illogicalities Viplav and Dhani have so far triumphed in their love for each other and the circumstances however unfavourable have succeeded in bringing them closer. They have had doubts and strains but at the end of it all they have come back to each other. The power of love has been victorious till now. The story of impossible love is still intact .
Viplav Tripathi has stood by his wife . What more can I ask for? Yes he has his flaws-so does Dhani but which one of us doesn't?
We have to remember that they are still young and are learning. Learn they will! and what keeps me glued is the hope that one day I will see Viplav as the complete iconoclast breaking the shackles of society and even perhaps shunning his grandfather's ideals , recognizing him for the evil that he is ; and Dhani as a true example of womanhood!
I'm waiting for that day to dawn so I have no choice but to keep watching. Am I sounding delusional? Maybe I am!

Such a beautiful post.. I will never get tired of saying that i am a fan of Mag, Jaz and U😃

Yes its me who, many times, used to say that Mishal's last character was better and even today I stick to that.. i remember a few silent members opening an account and coming to this forum only to say hat Dutta was better than viplav ...this kind of attitude is totally not acceptable.. we cant expect a well mannered simple lawyer carrying a gun and fighting like a gangster... we cant expect to get all those jumping and fighting sequences ... I had watched all his previous shows and i came to the conclusion that both his previous shows LTL and LS were much much and very much better if we compare the scripts and tracks.. but IKRS is no less.. the damn trp ruined everything...Yes Mishal's come back was much awaited.. I think if they had got a good time slot and did not had the pressure of getting ratings, then they could have moved slow with the beautiful concept of widow remarriage..

Now the original concept is lost long back, but like u I am also sticking to the show... Many times, i get too much irritated and talk about ending of the show, still I want this show to survive for long..
We have lost it, i think😆😆 ..
only hugs and kisses cant help...earlier i remember, one or two hugs or fore head kisses used to excite me too much.. I used to download the episodes and post pics but now my excitement has lessened .. other shows know the trick..they show hugs 3-4 times in a week and kisses , 3-4 times in a month.. i am still sticking to another super duper boring show just to see a few intimate scenes between the couples which we get very less... nothing compared to vidha..

i wrote too much and 90% of this comment is sounding negative but still I am watching Ishq...yesterday i skipped the episode, cant see dhani being intoxicated by kamini and then she, behaving awkwardly in front of everyone andviplav getting irritated.. But still i will say i am a fan of this show.. i love it for mishal off course, just cant imagine quiting it forever...
its my ishq for ishq that keeps me hooked too just like you😊

It's ishq has hooks me on to this show...VIP hookes me on to this show...his unconditional love for his wife...personally I love these characters...the ppl who smile and make others smile...I repeat again...I have never seen such a character on tv...though I am not an ardent show watcher...I rarely watch shows...now it's only ishq for me...Ofcourse another important one is MR...I watch this show for him...I might have left the show...if he had left it too...I love this character than any of his previous characters😆...now this show needs some positivity and a stronger dhani...I think we will get it soon...

Great post !! Ratna!
Reason, sticking to this show to it's untouched concept of WR and regional set up to enlighten dark shade of WS. Gradually a kind of chemistry between leads and no doubt it's MR , their magical equation drives me crazy like anything. This show spellbinded me for many reasons. There are many flaws but still I'm addicted to this show much. Unusual characterization of leads, at some instance so many shots gets close to reality. I never been found this show on entertainment aspect eventually it deal's with so many shades of human emotions which was done beautifully. Vips impossible n unconditional love, with a sweet, docile ,devoted and adorable Dhani goes exceptional! !!!
