What to believe and what not to believe? Seeing is believing, visible is accepted as plausible and factual. Things mooted and perceived without tangible proof are subject to disbelief that's how we accept issues around us. Issues that are unambiguous are thought of as clear cut. Issues that are fuzzy but appear realistic may in reality be delusions..The episode presents characters who swing between subtle reactions and knee jerk responses. Then there are those, who sound sincere but we harbour suspicion against their motives..
Kamini knows the ropes. There is awareness that the house belongs to the high priest of Banaras so what better way to herald the new day than to offer obeisance before Lord Shiva. Her devotional song draws the householders and the key persons, dada ji and Viplav's mother are mighty impressed by her beautiful voice. Bua is all smiles at the praises this girl receives and she is asked to distribute offertory to all. All but the one excluded pointedly time and again by Bua Dhani! . Viplav's phone rings and he exits . Kamini, turns to give Dhani the offertory, but she is stopped. Bau has a quick word with Dashrant, she has a bad feeling, and just in one look she can judge the kind of person she comes across .This nurse too gives off a sense of ill omen, like she is jinxed! which so ever house she goes to, will be devoid of the auspicious. Bau then turns to dhani and tells her cruelly to go to her room! why is she all over the place?her job is to tend to Viplav so she shouldn't take liberties that are not given to her! bless her, dadi protests and is told to be quiet! and mind her own business! Bua snorts away, why does she stand as part of the family in the veneration, as soon as Viplav is well! send her packing off! so go from here then! "Mera maal kahien nehin jaye ga!" Mishal's opening memorable one line from Laagi..and NOW~ she is not going anywhere!! Viplav walks in and stands by his bullied beloved and speaks out his anti discriminatory, anti class system views, in this house whether its dadi bua! the owner or a servant, each person is an integral part of this family! if Kamini being a guest can carry out veneration then why can this girl not stand here? Bua scolds him for back chatting! and Viplav replies , she asked for it.Kamini seizes the opportunity and pacifies the situation with an answer that is targeted to please Viplav, that he is right,the offertory is meant for all ,as god himself refrains from discriminating amongst devotees.. than she gives Dhani the offertory as if she was doing her a favour! but in actual fact Kamini is staging a performance to win Viplav over! Both Viplav and Dhani can sense the certain cold condescension that is being transmitted towards them .Especially Dhani .The family and the guests leave for breakfast and Dhani heads for her room ,but an aggrieved Viplav stops his wife and moans. That's it! he will head right away! and tell Bua exactly as it! but Dhani implores let it be its only a matter of another day and he growls ,it may be so! and it won't matter in the least to anyone except them and watch something untoward is bound to happen! that she gets insulted and he feels the smart! Dhani calms him, Shalu is returning home ,make it tension free, defer the matter just for one more day..helplessly Viplav gives up and leaves in a huff to join the family for breakfast but Dhani continues to head back to her room, barred from joining the family for breakfast!
The happy couple in AN, Phankaj, is stuffed with laddos and Shalu beams , which gives tremendous joy to her family. Presents are given to Shalu ,in which too there is discrimination ,not a single opportunity is left unused by Bau to promote Kamini before Viplav and his family and to wage psychological war against dhani.. but what Bau and this Kamini are unaware of, is that Dhani has come across worst humiliation publicly to be dithered by Bua's caustic jibes at her! Kamini as a complete stranger but justifies it's out of love she gives Shalu a present, presents a a pair of GPS watches which she announces , will keep them in touch with each other, to me keeping an eye on each other!! Shalu asks must be pricey? to which Kamini replies with sly humility ,but then love is priceless! In comparison ,Dhani's simple mud print mould is mocked at by Bua , but Phankaj and Shalu think its a unique idea as Dhani says, their inscribed foot print in the clay soil will remind them of the times of this ritual. Dhani blesses them, how in life may their footprints always synchronise as they walk together! Seeing that Dhani receives applause for her innovative thought and medium used, Bau decides to dampen Dhani's glory! she demands , just a minute did he get this? and Dhani blurts nervously , not really! it's from Viplav! its because he is not fully recovered so he asked her to complete it on her behalf... Viplav smiles at the sweetness of his beloved..she passes on her credit over to him! But really Dhani is astute, as by now she realizes Bau's sentiments towards her.Bau on hearing her reply, gives a Kanak style wounding remark ,she knew it was Viplav's idea , the educated lot's ideas stand out ! like Kamini's did .Viplav is filled with disgust at this elders outdated illiterate shallow views, showing Dhani's lack of academics!
The newly happily married couple Shalu and phankhaj leave..the rest of the family leaves too and Bau the battle axe stops them ,where are they going? one more send off is pending! she states meaningfully.Dashrant is at a loss of words whose? Have patience she replies ,he'll see.. then she gets the platter with the offertory and stands before Dhani..viplav stares at what's about to happen..come on then nurse ,now it's time for your send off! Dhani is stunned! Viplav eyes flash!and Kanak savours every second of Dhani's humiliation. which is what gives the battle axe biddy Bua the clout to carry on her atrocities upon Dhani. Viplav is livid as he mouths in fury at his dada ji should he say something? or is he going to say something? Bua meanwhile grabs her purse pulls out some cash and slaps it on dhani's palm! She is so happy so here's the tip! now go away from here! Bua orders!dhani stands confused and Bau insults her ,she's still here? wants more tip ,here then! now scram from here! she commands ! Viplav has enough! Dashrant too looks weary but Kanak enjoys Dhani's abuse thoroughly with evil smiles! Dhani stands fixed to the ground and Bau appeals to Dashrant ,would he explain what she's trying to say! as she fails to get her message! Viplav can see from his dadaji's face that he won't budge so he approaches , Bau , but she tells him to shut up! a chick is going to teach her what to do! she says it as it is! and doesn't like to be told what to say !so beware of any interference! But Viplav insists ,he has to tell her something important!but she passes it to Dashrant ,tell him not to insult her by meddling! Viplav goes to his dada ji ,as ramdin wheels in dhan's baggage, Bau orders Dhani now collect your language and leave this place! Finally Dashrant begs Bua , she can't she kick her out just like that!her husband is not at home. Bua digs her heels in ,so what? is this a household or some kind of an rest house? If so, go and round up all the destitute women of the city! and and give them shelter , kick her out now! dadi calls out ,why is she doing this ,but dadi is told to be silent! No surprises here that Viplav's mother is the only one who refrains from saying anything supportive for Dhani..Bau snorts like a female dragon, not anyone's will but her will be imposed! she warns Dashrant. Viplav roars she is committing a mistake!bua holds the family hostages under her emotional black mail,if within the minute! this nurse does not leave! She will go on hunger strike! She will not listen to any one!she will stick to her decision! nurse should be out of this house within the next minute ! Viplav appeals , Dhani will not leave! and Bau screams at him ,that will happen the next minute for if the nurse stays ,then his mother! will have to go instead! cruelly she manipulates Viplav! now it's in Dhani's hand to go herself? rather than Kanak having to go, but the evil Bau delegates Kanak the job of throwing Dhani out! Bua waits is she going to or not? Kanak grabs Dhani's hand and drags Dhani past Viplav who just stands and watches his wife being dragged to the door! Dashrant speaks at last tells Kanak to stop! Disappointed Kanak stops, and Dashrant grovels before Bau ,don't do this! people will make fun of him! he will be maligned if it's found out that he kicked this vulnerable nurse Dashrant begs at her feet!a high priests respectability is at stake. All are distraught to see dada ji as he begs and grovels! Then Bua shrieks, this reputation and respectability that he talks about! who has given him this name ,this power , his clout whose grace is it by?who has granted him this favour Dashrant Tirpathi??? Bau demands! All are confused at her questions, and Viplav runs to him and pleads on his behalf ,look ... and helps him to stand, holds him up protectively and confronts this hard battle axe Bua... after bringing Dashrant on the ground from her feet ,Bua orders Kanak to let go of Dhani's arm!who let's go reluctantly as Kanak was dying to throw Dhani out! Bau says , to Dashrant , all he is concerned about is his reputation? well she gives him a few hours respite!either her husband comes for her ,or she goes herself! Bua serves the ultimatum! Dashrant appeals but how can it be done at a day's notice? she snorts back, she has said what she had to say, consider it as written on stone! Dashrant loses it , what the hell! He can't dispute her can't do anything!kanak orders Dhani to go back to her room! Dhani leaves and Viplav follows but his mother stops him,frustrated he tells his Dashrant ,he respects him a lot but if his wife is ousted out of this house!he will lose his grandson and he's not interested to hear him!and in a temper Viplav goes after his wife...
Dhani looks at the bruise marks of Kanak's fingers on her arm a symbol of her loathing for Dhani! Viplav comes and sees her upset.. upset he hits his arm across the ornaments on the table ,things crash! and break like their hearts , the sight of cruelty inflicted on her infuriates him but for Dhani to see his spirit wounded is worse than the bruises on her arm given by his mother. Viplav!she panics, what and why is he doing all this? he grabs her arm and feels it gently ,he has had enough...he cannot tolerate any more he roars like a dangerous wounded lion!he will go and tell Bua the whole truth right now! dhani calms him she knows how he feels and he roars ,no she can't understand what he goes through! has to hear her being called ,servant! maid! his mother goes and pulls her hand !he s at his wits end! why are they so helpless before Bua?dhani cries , but she has no complaints against her ,and he argues ,but he has!he cannot take it anymore! Bua wants that her husband should come and collect her by this evening!fine! what Bua wants shall be done! Her husband will come and take her with him! Viplav roars! He is leaving.. they stop.. Dashrant stands before them weeping ,Viplav is full of fury why is he here?here take a look at her arm ,the reward for the lie he told!any more lies pending ? he'll tell those to Bau also.. Dashrant comes to Dhani and says words to impress Viplav only..these words Dashrant needs to let Bua hear.. he has come here to apologize to his younger daughter in law. He knows he doesn't deserve her forgiveness nor her respect..he is terribly ashamed as he stands before them ,he knows he needs punishment for the sin he has committed! hit him! beat him! give me pain Dashrant cries, as he grabs their hands he should get punished! he cries hysterically !viplav too loses the plot , he cannot understand what is going on in their house? why do we they have to lie to Bau ?why cant' they tell her the truth?what is the difficulty? Dashrant pleads ,he is trying to do exactly that,he'll go to his sister right now and clearly tell her the truth, that it's his fault and that he is the one who needs to be punished not Dhani!cries Dashrant to win Viplav s trust. Dashrant cries all he needs is an hour. He needs to go to his sister just one hour he begs.. and fed up Viplav says and what if he still cannot tell her the truth, Dashrant replies then he will accept whatever punishment they give him! Dashrant lies..
A powerpacked episode , key scene bau's subtle reference to dashrant's power... yet how she wields power over him. Mystery what hold has bau over their family? is dashrant's sumbmission perforformane before viplav and dhani genuine? things certainly are not as easy as they seem.. hamlet53 24.4.16
