For starters Definitions that i confirmed for myself :
A lie : a false statement made with the deliberate intent to deceive ; an intentional untruth.
Honesty : the original meaning has to do more with honor than truthfulness, although the two are naturally linked. Shakespeare once wrote "Honesty is the best policy. If I lose my honor, i lose myself" .
Scandal : An action or event regarded morally or legally wrong causing public outrage.

What I love about your write-ups Hammie is of course the narration , the details and nuances of actions and actors and most importantly the theme of the day which is well reflected in your titles. For me personally it is thought provoking and educational . We are indeed not talking about politics or changing the world but sharing of thoughts on a 20 minute fictional show meant for entertainment yet important. Its a pleasure to read your takes and participate so thank you .
Before responding I had to refer to the dictionary to set my word definitions straight and tie it to what was happening in the episode and your thought process. "White lies ...or scandal " While you are right about the lies that are being said with the best of intent and the attempt to turn these events into a scandal stand out , for me , its the Honesty that is in the forefront of 2 individuals who wish to uphold the honor , firstly to each other and then to their families. For Viplav it is as easy to go to his grandparents and declare the truth and for Dhani too to tell her mother of her wedding But they've made a promise to each other to keep it quiet till Shallu gets married and this is what they are both safe guarding despite the pain they are both enduring. Lies are just the by product .
Before Shallu's marriage track began we were hoping for a separation track . We all hoped to see a desolate Viplav & Dhani hopelessly in love and unable to be together . That impossible love . In some ways I think we are getting our wish minus the desolation which I think will follow in time. The separation may seem self imposed and not in spirit but it is a physical one. The two are in isolation away from each other and away from their families. Viplav sad that he is not able to meet her openly and why she cannot be accepted by his mother despite her goodness. And Dhani sad that she cannot tell everyone and be happy.
No question the Kanak & Dulaari confrontation followed by the Dulaari & Dhani was the highlight . Dulaari telling her daughter that how confident she is that she will never do anything wrong without a real reason . Telling her that they have been thru thick and thin and she trusts her implicitly and most importantly not to back off from the chance of happiness that she is getting coz that is rare thing to find. Her replying back to KAnak that we have a lot of pride and not hanging to your son for a few pieces of gold and showing her the door.
One would wonder as to why Kanak want to stop by the Ashram in the first place if not only to malign a girl that she hates so desperately . She is out of her sons life according to her . What KAnak has not been able to shake off is that threat of her , her fear that it is not over yet and for how long will she be able to keep her son away from her. Someone needs to tell her to talk to her son as to why he is love with her - for that too Dhani is to be blamed for jadu tona !!!
Between all this there was one scene that I really liked and that was the very brief interaction between Dadi & Viplav. I rewound it a couple of times to see Mishal's reactions and they were simply perfect telling his dadi that in the entire household where he is loved by everyone it is only she who gets him and worries about him . With the entire family abuzz with excitement he stands smiling alone .
The rest was okay too. Gone are the days when I would fast forward the episode and worse mute them out completely . Kanak continues to be loud for me but that is her role. Lets wait for the next few days to see how it goes. Is it me or anyone else who finds Raja a big block of cheese !!!! very chikna too.
Apologies for being late Hammie on your threads. Its not possible to write long responses on a phone which is what i use during the day and get my hands on a laptop very late. I try my best to be always there ..so please do lookout for me .
