Am back with my weekly ritual, only hope and pray that this is not my last!π
What happiness IKRS has given me and all of us
What magic Viplav and Dhani have managed to weave into our lives
What a wonderful muse they have been - an inspiration to our creativity...
Am letting out a fervent prayer before I start the obvious
Let the IKRS core not be lost in the TRP upheaval...ViDha are way too precious and so are our memories of them!
On this positive note, here goes...
A week full of ups and downs; more ups than downs thankfully!
LOVED the note on which the week opened...
Viplav and Dhani seem to just ACE it when it comes to CONFESSIONS!βοΈ
Will start with Viplav first...my first favourite scene of the week, that was...
1. Viplav's Confession scene (also, my first HIGHLIGHT scene of the week):
- When Dhani comes to Ayodha Niwas to meet DT, Viplav is already in the ashram! Nice touch, that!
- No time wasted in niceties, Viplav simply parks himself on the charpoy - The lad means business!
- LOVED the earnestness of Viplav's confession as he says it all...like only he can! LOVED, LOVED, the "dhoka diya" moment...what a deeply thought out concept - only fair for Dhani to feel cheated in what she thought was plain friendship! LOVED, LOVED, Viplav's interpretation of "dhoka", with his "ismein humari galati kya hai, Dhani?"
πππ
CVs, this is Viplav, Dhani, and their DEPTH for us...its only ViDha who can make such DEPTH come alive...so SIMPLISTICALLY!
- As the confession came to its logical conclusion, was BOWLED OVER by Viplav's unwavering conviction of the 'role reversal'...of Dhani's realization and subsequent confession...which was bound to follow!
Mishal just played this to perfection, as Dhani emphatically continues her denial, but Viplav, with his piercing gaze looks on!
πππ
What a MEANINGFUL moment there was in all this, when Dhani talks about her choice...the all-important point in the matter...if only the depth of this point was explored a little better, if only, thereafter...
And finally,
WHAT AN ORIGINAL WAY TO LEAVE ONE'S "STAMP"!!!!βοΈβοΈβοΈ
The CVs, Mishal and Eisha just nailed it with this one!
Some CLASSIC ViDha moments, as I call them...
Viplav, what self-confidence, what self-belief, completely understated though! Mishal was simply OUTSTANDING!ππΌβοΈπ
The moment when Viplav crosses Dhani after the 'imprint' was made
And,
Dhani, trying desperately to 'wash' away what was staring her in the face!
LOVED that the focal point was "Tumhey humara pyar ka ehsaas hoga, Dhani"...What an original way to say "I love you!"
SIMPLY SUPER!
πππ
And, then, as we progressed through the rest of the week, will try to summarise, what stood out and what did not quite cut ice...
Entirely, my take!
2. The Teastall scene
For a change, this is not a ViDha scene!π
Liked the fact that the soul searching was between Vipav and Raj...nice touch, that!
Some nice moments with Viplav's sublime expression as Raj tells him "I told you so!"
Liked Viplav's way of giving the chaiwala cheapskate a taste of his own medicine...sans, much fanfare!
Really liked the touch of Viplav's acceptance of Dhani being called "Bhabhi" (especially in the context of a strong sense of deja vu!)
3. The Lie Detector scene
The idea was truly novel...Viplav himself was amused by it all!π
The whole scene shot through the ashram window - good touch, that!
Really liked Viplav's questions...they were a good build up for him to 'set the stage'!
There was a LOVELY 'give and take' fraction of a second moment between Viplav and Dhani - a simple, stolen glance when RL answers in the affirmative to Viplav's damaad question - LOVED it!π
LOVED, LOVED a moment soon after when the stoic Dhani lets it slip as she tells RL "Tumhari toh koi bhi cheez vakil babu se mel nahin khati!" That's the Dhani I like...stoic, yet with a mind of her own, not a martyr, pursuing match-making, as if it were her sole purpose in life!π
4. The Temple Scene
Viplav looking dapper in Blue!π³
Some good writing, with Viplav going "Tum ek minute main ruk gayi...achhi biwi, and immediately, cut to Khair Chodo!"ππΌ
Liked the fact that Dhani's basis for disbelief was her attributing it to Viplav's infatuation..."sarla kaki ka natak". Loved Viplav's lucid explanation of "Teen Char din main pyar hota hai kya, Dhani?"
Loved it when Viplav gave it back to Dhani as she put forth RLs preposterous proposal...really liked the "kirane ki dukaan" analogy!
There was actually a moment here when better writing could have given us the first signs of Dhani at least questioning herself...when that whole "Tum humse pyar karte ho...Hum tumse pyar nahin karte", etc, was playing out...how lovely it could have been if Dhani, had simply said "Kya musibat hai, yeh", instead of finding a 'solution' in RL!!
The stand out moments in the Temple scene...
- When Viplav sees RL, as he hears "Vakil Babu", he instinctively turns to look for Dhani!
- Absolutely adored that fleeting moment of Dhani's concern for Viplav's burn, as she holds back! π If only this turmoil could have been explored to its full potential...if only!
- LOVED, LOVED, the blink and you miss it moment when Dhani is caught unawares as Viplav senses her concern of his burnt hand. Viplav and Dhani's eyes meet & then Viplav's penetrating gaze...its pure MAGIC!π
5. The Garland making scene (second HIGHLIGHT scene of the week)
- Was so ViDha!π
- LOVED so many things about it:
1. The PROFOUNDNESS of the analogy during the telephonic conversation
2. The SIMPLICITY with which Viplav managed to articulate it all
3. The EARNESTNESS which made it so completely believable
4. ViDha's common ground as it was THIS statement that was still troubling Dhani as she forcibly tried to keep Viplav out of her mind!
πππ
Before I move on to the next HIGHLIGHT scene, would like to make a special mention of certain other moments which stood out for me...
- Viplav, completely in character, being the perfect gentleman, treating RL with so much dignity, despite the messed up date! Loved the pensive Viplav, the earnest Viplav with his forthrightness so completely admirable! Mishal was very good, here! A simple scene it may seem outwardly, but Mishal added his touch!π
- When Viplav drops RL home, lovely touch that as Viplav teases Dhani "Hum ab dil se dua karte hai Dhani ke tumhari har ichha poori ho!"π Some smart writing, that!
- My primary grouse through most of this week was absence of a turmoil inside of Dhani! That was simply impossible! This was addressed somewhat through the 'after-effects' of RL's outing with Viplav. LOVED how a simple date could prove to be the catalyst to Dhani's otherwise unwavering shield! LOVED Dhani's innocuous "Khana kaisa tha?" to "Vakil babu tumhein dekhke chakit nahin huye?" to the final "Aur kya boley Vakil babu?" Nice touch that, CVs! π
6. The "Beautiful Within" scene (another HIGHLIGHT scene of the week)
- A very well thought through scene, including the build up to the crescendo!
- Using KT's crassiness was actually a trump card...to expose Dhani's innermost fears of Viplav's love being no more than an infatuation! Was only natural that Dhani would be taken in by KT...Dhani knows Viplav, she has begun to understand him, but LOVE...how could Viplav ever love her? Only wish these questions were part of her ravaging turmoil before her crazy hunt for the scissors began!π
- And then the EYE-OPENER, and what an eye-opener it was!!
The most LUCID explanation of true LOVE! BEYOND the physical!
πππ
What HEART-WARMING choice of words to express his PROFOUND love...most genuinely; most earnestly, as only Viplav can!
- "Gudiya" for "Khoobsurat"
- "Bhagwan ne agar tumko Khoobsurat banaya hai, toh ismein tum kya kar sakti ho, Dhani?"
- "Aur kya reh jayega"..."Humara pyar"
Then, as Viplav dismisses the 'physical' by saying something as simple as "Kya humein tumse pehli nazar main pyar hua tha? Nahin naa...hum kitney samay tak dost they na Dhani!"
What an IMPACTFUL way of communicating the obvious!
πππ
And, then, finally, the EPIC ViDha moment...
The "Jhooth" v/s "Pyar" moment
Was simply CLASSIC!
Mishal Raheja just epitomized BRILLIANCE!
βοΈβοΈβοΈ
Considering that Viplav so CONVINCINGLY put all of Dhani's fears to rest, there should have been significant time and energy invested by the CVs in exploring Dhani's turmoil thereafter...
- Dhani being torn between her gradual realization and the demons of her past
- These demons plaguing Viplav's future or so she would think - her innate selflessness would seem so relevant in the midst of it all
- The overwhelming challenges of the obvious 'divide' - for a girl steeped in "pratha", would acknowledgement and acceptance of "pyaar" so complex, come easy"? Don't quite think so?
Instead what do we get...
- A well shot dream (credit entirely due to Eisha's acting than anything else)
- A lesson or two from Suvarna re TP! π€£ I mean, that was the height!! Whatever happened to Badi Amma and her lessons of life??!!
There were some positives, however...
- Nice touch that, when Dhani doesn't realize she is crying...even when RL shows her the tears, she cannot fathom why?
- As her mind is flooded with Viplav's memories, and the tears just wouldn't stop...Dhani, still clueless, she cannot fathom why?
- Dhani's moments of hesitancy...the backtracking steps...as she finally musters the courage...to break free!
πππ
7. And finally, Dhani's confession (the final HIGHLIGHT scene of the week)
- Am grateful it was not shot at the airport, was only fair that the ghats be revisited! The ViDha journey had started there after all !
- LOVED, LOVED, everything about the moment...as Dhani finally sees 'light at the end of the tunnel'! As Dhani catches Viplav's glimpse and turns around, her restrained smile; the myriad emotions...of sheer disbelief; of relief; of sheer BLISS! Eisha just nailed it! βοΈ
- And then, absolutely ADORED the 'serious' Viplav as he played along...as he clasps her hand and she holds on for "dear life"...not a single word uttered; only the tears doing the talking!
πππ
- And then...
DHANI PULLS HERSELF TOWARDS VIPLAV!
Do we need anything more?
What an AUTHORITATIVE confession, that!
So ViDha!
So CLASSY!
πππ
And the moments that followed...
- Viplav despite knowing it all, simply going with the flow, his serious demeanor doing all the 'talking'..."Itni subah...Rehne do, hum toh aise hi pooch rahe they!" and "Yeh aansoo kis liye Dhani?" What a BEAUTIFUL way to let the love of your life know..."Lady, your moment of truth has come!"π
- LOVED, LOVED the candor of Dhani's admission...I mean this is how I had envisaged Dhani, the shy, reticent but a girl with a mind of her own, to confess to Viplav...pouring her heart out to him, no holds barred, and she did it to perfection!βοΈ
- Some really nice lines there as Dhani describes the pain of a widow and how Viplav's love has liberated her..
- And Viplav, how can thou be forgotten? The momentary SPARKLE in Viplav's eyes as Dhani goes "Haan yeh aansoo tumhare liye they!!!"...Viplav, you've supported Dhani, and how!
- Finally, the simplicity and earnestness when Dhani proclaims the deepest secret of her heart...LOVED it that she quickly turns around, still coming to terms with the IMPACT of what she has just said, as the peaceful smile makes its way through Viplav's face!
- Also, nice touch CVs, when Dhani's innate reserve comes to the fore as soon as Raj steps in...that was completely in character...Dhani's 'realization' meant only for Viplav!
Kudos to Eisha Singh for performing such a difficult scene amazingly well
Am slowly but surely coming to the conclusion that Eisha is really good at portraying complex emotions...she only needs to tighten her regular stuff a little bit, and she will be a force to reckon with
Eisha ACED it all through the stutter and stammer when Dhani sees Viplav in her dream...her helplessness of the possibility of never being able to see Viplav again, and finally the confession scene!
Eisha, keep up the good work, girl!
πππ
And not to forget, Mishal supported Eisha amazingly well...all through the Confession scene...
The true mark of an actor...
To know when to step up
AND,
Also, when to step down!
Mishal Raheja, you will go a long way, young man!βοΈ
My special TREAT as a smitten ViDha viewer...
The DIVINE MiSha "give and take" as their eyes speak through their silences
As Raj tells Dhani, "Guru, kya tumhein chodke jaa saktey hain kya?"
And ViDha's expressions as their eyes meet
πππ
So finally, the million dollar question...why the misgivings despite 2 heartfelt confessions and 1 classic 'eyeopener' playout??!!
1. Dhani's confession had the potential of going down in the annals of history...it was complex, to say the least! Required tremendous investment, nurturing and care! Am not quite sure if this is what happened! Dhani pouring her heart out to Viplav was BEAUTIFUL! But the baggage that she carries...did she traverse that distance...transcend those boundaries...to get there? Don't quite think so!
2. Why the knee jerk reaction of Dhani throwing caution to the winds??!! Completely baffles me!!
The scene in isolation when Dhani smears the gulaal is actually so MEANINGFUL...so DEEP! It conveys so many things, at one go...Dhani's emancipation...the unshackling of social taboos...the liberation from the demons of her past! And, for Dhani, to take the lead in that smear of color...that is a HUGE step forward ! In the context that it was shown, believe it was out of place and undeserving! Seemed like trivialization, actually! Had the potential of once again being an IKRS and ViDha classic...if only, at the right place and right time! The only saving grace...Viplav and Dhani's AMAZING chemistry!
3. Last but not the least, what has IKRS set out to explore and in what way is the all important question going to be answered? Am still trying to figure out after watching Monday's precap...
As I sign off,
An ardent plea
It takes a LOT to LOVE something so PASSIONATELY...so UNCONDITIONALLY
VIPLAV and DHANI have done that to us
They are an integral part of our LIVES now
Truly believe that IKRS has TREMENDOUS potential
Just HOLD ON tight...to your CORE, CVs
The numbers will also come!
I also wish to come back
With a smile on my lips and a prayer in my heart...
Still hoping for the very best
With my positivity intact!
Cheers!
