Sita Ma would not do it for no reason, and for sure, there has to be a reason. As you said, I think that it is a mix of the two reasons you spoke of.

My feeling of why Sita did do the Bhumi Pravesh is a mixture of the two versions mentioned above. Due to both reasons, Sita, who is the Earth as well called out to a part of her, as that part of her was her Mother, and went to her mother's lap.

RCM did not have bhumi pravesh.

RCM in fact did not show Sita's vanvaas at all. It ended with the Rajyabhishek, and the Uttar Kand was merely a compilation of background stories on Ravan and other characters.

Sorry. I got my sources messed up. Either way, I think those were the reasons why Sita did Bhumi Pravesh.

Yeah, I agree.

Unlike what SKR is showing, the praja never repented for Sita's exile until after the bhumi pravesh, when it was too late, so Sita could never stay in a place where a woman was not respected.

SKR is an amalgam of versions, some of which are the CVs also.

Bhu, you should write an OS on Lord Varaha and Bhudevi. 😉 I'm surprised you haven't done so already, but I think you could do total justice to Bhudevi's abduction and Varaha coming to save her, especially with the symbolism behind the whole incarnation.
