Exclusive first look of Draupadi in 'Mahabharat'

After a massive search, Star Plus' upcoming magnum opus Mahabharat has finally found its Draupadi. Pooja Sharma, a Delhi girl who moved to Mumbai a few years ago to pursue her acting dream, has been chosen to play this iconic character.

We managed to get an exclusive first look of Pooja as Draupadi ahead of the show launch in mid-September. Her look on the show, along with the rest of the cast's, has been styled by Oscar-winning costume designer Bhanu Athaiya.

We have learnt that since Draupadi is an extremely strong and provocative character, and also beautiful, red is the colour which will be seen most in her costumes. "The fabric being used is lightweight sheer silk and all the costumes have also been embroidered by hand," says a source.

The jewellery she will be seen wearing in the show apparently wasn't easy to make. Samples were sourced from Kolkata, Gujarat and South India. In fact, Draupadi is the only character wearing stone jewellery. All jewellery worn by her has been designed with lotus as the theme

Ismail Darbar creates a special war theme for Star Plus Mahabharat

As is well known that producer and creative director of Swastik productions Siddharth Kumar Tewary is leaving no stone unturned to make his dream project a blockbuster. He has ensured that they have all the big names from the various walks of life to be associated with the epic. The latest we hear is that the war theme for Mahabharat is composed by none other than Ismail Darbar who has given Indian Cinema some of the most melodious tracks.
Commenting on this wonderful association, producer/ creator Siddharth Kumar Tewary said, I wanted a larger than life war theme which sums up the story of Mahabharat. I couldnt think of anyone but Mr. Ismail Darbar, he has his own unique sound and the kind of effort he put in is commendable. The theme track is haunting and I believe it will last forever.
