The prefix "Shri" to Rama indicates that Rama is always associated with "Shri" - the essence of four Vedas.

Yes, correct. Also "Shri" refers to Lakshmi and by saying Shri Rama or Shri Krishna or Shri Hari, one is honoring Lakshmi who is the eternal consort of Vishnu.

Which in turn can be used to explain why we never say "Shri" Shiva or "Shri" Bramha...

Yes, we never say Shri Shiva or Shri Brahma because 'Shri' is another name of Lakshmi Ma.😊 So all of Lord Vishnu's avatars are addressed by this title.

I think during the time of Ramayan the 'shri' was used as a mark of respect. This was the reason why Ravan would get agitated if anyone referred to him as 'Shri' Ram.

We now refer to him as 'Shri' Ram because he's Vishnu.
