Here's a picture of either the new Ram (Gagan Malik) or Lakshman (Neil Bhatt). Does anyone know who it is? I don't know either actors so I could not tell.

^^ that would be Neil Bhatt. He starred in Gulaal. I thought he was really cute, but I never watched an episode because the whole premise of the show was too weird.

As per looks he looks nice, and his physique is perfect for Lakshman too, but let's see how he acts and whether he'll live up to Sunil Lahri.😉 Look at me, I'm already comparing, LOL!

All I know is Ravindra Jain is doing the music again, so I'm gonna watch to find out if he actually comes up with new melodies this time around.

I agree with Anku though about the comments on the first 2 tellybuzz articles. It was disheartening to see the attitude expressed in them. I personally have my own preferences among the mythos, give the new ones a try anyway out of reverence for the divine characters' names and on account of those I give credit where it's due. This time will be no different.

And Janu, RSR did have sarees - we discussed this before remember? They just tied the entire 5 yards into the pleats.

I doubt the music is gonna be different. From the promos at least it seems like he's going to use his standard tunes, which I don't really have a problem with since I love them.
Yeah, I do recollect our discussion, but from the promos at least the style of wearing the saris looks different from RSR's in that instead of so many pleats, they are wearing it like how saris are usually worn now. They resembles DBSK's, don't they? That's what I thought at least.
And I do agree with you and Anku about the extreme comments, but at the same time I also believe there's a limit on how many Ramayans a production house should take over and over again. Twice was enough, we don't really need a third one, or a fourth one, or a fifth one, and etc. No matter how many times they try to make the story differen't, it's gonna be the same. Instead they should research on another God who isn't generally seen onscreen (like they did with Shani Dev) and do a show on him. I do plan to watch this show as much as possible since it comes in the weekends, but I don't expect it to impress me any more than RSR and ASR did, because the pros of both shows have satisfied me in terms of seeing the epic come on screen.

I do too but I'd love to add new ones to my collection alongside. He certainly has the talent. Let's see what he does.

Yeah, these are typical sarees and then the shawl type look with the extra dupatta over one shoulder thing that you noticed reminds me of Devdas. DBSK just had regular ghagra cholis for the most part, but Rukmini's mom did have a similar thing going on with her extra veils IIRC.

Yeah I agree with that... I just wish that's all that the comments said :/ I chalk it up to immaturity, but I do hope people grow out of it soon enough. No actor is God; there have been great. praiseworthy portrayals in the past, and there will be in the future. My principle is to give credit where credit is due and where God's name is concerned, show some respect even where it's not due.

Instead they should research on another God who isn't generally seen onscreen (like they did with Shani Dev except they did no research, they just inserted Shani Dev as a moderator into in to various puranic stories 😆 but I get what you're saying and I agree. The Devi Bhagavatam would've been a great idea. Speaking of, I'm sorry to report that DKDM hasn't really gotten much more accurate than it was in the Sati phase. Just yesterday we got a Kalidas story retold as a Nandi story. But thankfully the pace has picked up. Anyway, I digress from the topic, my apologies) and do a show on him. I was impressed as I could ever be in the very first try, but yeah I'll also give it a shot and only quit and criticize if I see consistent, destructive distortion of a positive character like a certain recently defunct mytho decided to engage in.

Basically that's it for the gist of my general opinions on a remake; I'd like to just ask that our members remain as mature and balanced and open-minded as they've always been. No superlatives at the cost of downgrading other actors/editions like those comments under the article please, whether they be old or new; at the end of the day we care infinitely more about the characters and divine source material being portrayed.

My comments on the promos - can't say much about the actors yet since we haven't seen them act. I'm sure Rishabh Shukla will make a good Dashrath since he worked well as Shantanu in BRC's Mahabharat. Geez, that BRC cast is keeping busy in the new mythos! Gandhari and Dushasan in the 2008 Ramayan; Duryodhan and Shakuni in DBSK; Drona, Karna, and more in DKDM; and now Shantanu in the new Ramayan! Anywho, besides that, the actor playing Hanuman seems a little off, I think it's his voice. The graphics in the second-last promo with the Setu Bandhan were pretty cool, what with the sand and stuff, but the CGI in that last Ravan promo were way way way overdone. I hope that was for promotional purposes only.

Well I am doubtful about this one. If its like DBSK then I have no hope. In DBSK they changed the story line at the drop of a hat

I will watch it today for curiosity sake and reverence for the divine charecters

And I wish them all the best too

As per promotions in the zee soap opera episodes ( I don't usually watch them, but I saw Pavitra Rishta and Punar Vivah upon googling Ramayan promos) the show will be based entirely on the Ramcharitramanas. So there won't be the four kands and the usual show structure we would expect. Since we saw Neil in costume already, I'd say that the first episode might have the grown up characters.

@Lola di! Yeah! You're here! Glad to see your views. I somewhat agree. The DBSK outfits, especially the Rukhmini one which had the dupatta well above her middle, were a disappointment. The sarees here seem more authentic.
