Here goes a brief list of some of my favorite songs from the series... I'm sure I'll miss many, but at least here's a start:

- Damroopani Shoolpani, the bhajan that Ram and his brothers sing on Shivratri... one of the earliest among many beautiful scenes in which the show depicts the mutual reverence between Hari and Har.

- Arun Nayan Ur Baahu Vishaala and Vidya Nidhi Kahun Vidya Dinhi - from Ram's journey with Vishwamitra, verses are verbatim from the Ram Charit Manas and contain very beautiful metaphors... and the simplicity of the singing and orchestration makes them just hauntingly great.

- the entire marriage sequence, particularly Aayi Re Baaraat and Chaaron Bhraata Vadhuon Ke Sang when they seek blessings afterwords... again there's that simplicity that makes it feel sooo warm and homey, jaise SiyaRam ki shaadi hamaare apne hi ghar mein ho rahi ho <3

- Raghuraayi He Raghuraayi from the Kevat sequence... so much devotion and playfulness, and that Kevat actor is proof of the perfect casting even for brief 1-scene roles!

- Bharat Chala Re, Ram Bhakt Le Chala Re, Bharat Sam Nahin Dooja Koi Tyaagi, and Maiya Tene Ka Thaani Man Mein... I absolutely LOVE every song from this quartet and all the scenes that these songs bridge together, without exception. There is devotion, emotion, meaning, as well as a uniqueness in the melodies and orchestration for each track, and the whole Bharat Milaap including its set-up and aftermath are, for me, among the most magical moments of the show.

- Lankeshwar Rajeshwar, our introduction to Ravan... it's very authentically classical and the Shiv Tandav Stotra within it has a life of its own.

- Apne Bal Ko Kachhu Dhyaan Karo through Naath Bhagati Ati Sukhdaayini, including all the songs in between (esp. Ram Kahani, possibly the most recognizable song from the show)... the whole depiction of Sundar Kand is right up there with Bharat Milaap as my favorite and most watched portion, and these songs tie all the events together perfectly, enhancing the moments by making their meanings explicit... sooo much energy in the early tracks and so much devotion in the ones that conclude it, they balance each other out perfectly. Gotta mention Ram Naam Ke Pankh - Hanumanji's flight song - separately, in my family when we leave late to go anywhere and are not likely to make it on time - which is always - we sing this the whole way, thinking Hanumanji will make the car also fly past the traffic - and it always works 😆

- Ramji ki sena chali... sooo much energy!

- Doorahi te dekhe veu bhraata, when Vibhishan sees Shri Ram for the first time... simplicity, devotion, enough said.

- Ram Naam Aadhaar Jinhe when the bridge is built - sooo much meaning, its words work as batteries when you feel down or discouraged and get you motivated once again!

- Angad in Ravan's court - both for the meaning and the music

- Kaalnemi's Ram Bhajan when he's trying to distract Hanumanji during the Sanjeevani episode... sooo much ishtyle, the way they mixed dialogue in was reminiscent of Pag Ghungroo from Namak Halaal, just as lively, and the expressions and interplay between both actors was so engaging!

- pretty much all the battle songs. their energy, action, and rhythm more than make up for any issues with the special effects. special mention for the one when the vaanar sena's destroying Indrajeet's yagya :P

- Ram Darbar Hai Jag Saara - there's some deep spiritual statement in every verse

- Sita Ram Daras Ras Barse, Mahalon Ke Adhikaari, and Hum Katha Sunaate (particularly the Avadh Mein Aisa portion) from Uttar Kand.

So, that's pretty much it I think! Anyone else, favorite songs?

Actually all songs are good. Lovely music by Ravindra Jain.

Some of my favs -
1. Jaimala during Sita Swayamvar
2. Har koi hai yahan bas nithur niyati ke haathon ka khilauna...it shows flashes of old memories and has some lovely acting by Arunji and Sunilji (when Ram and Lakshman are waiting for the rainy season to end in Kishkhinda)
3. The song when Ram goes to the forest - Vidhi na tere lekh kisi ko samjh na aate hain...jan jan ke priya Ram-Lakhan-Siya van ko jaate hain
4. Mere Lakhan dulaare...😭 Very very touching song...Arunji never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Esp when he says 'Akhiyon ke taare lalla akhiyan tu khol'.
5. The Shiv Bhajan sung by Ravan before he goes to fight...Arvind Trivedi has himself sung it...I love it.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 25 Years of 'Ramayan'!!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
- Writing about Dr. Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan' is very very difficult, as it generates so much emotion in me 😊. I first watched RSji's 'Shri Krishna' in 2009 and got moved while watching it! Then I was interested to watch the original masterpiece by the great director! Th' I have watched 'Ramayan' during my childhood, but I feel, I could not grasp its essence back then. (For a detailed post on my journey you can visit this page 😊- https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/28434818 ). At first I must admit my gratefulness to Shivang for introducing me to Ramayan in its 'true sense', i.e.- helping me to understand its characters/ dialogues/ songs/ messages- and all the subtle elements which has made it such an Outstanding work! Without him, it would have been really difficult for me to get involved in the story/ characters in the way I experienced it since last 2-3 yrs. Now the whole series is Very Very Dear to me- all the scenes, dialogues, music, characters- Love them all!
Here, at first, I'm just trying to write about my favourite sc.s, which helped me a lot in generating the initial interest for 'Ramayan'-
- The first scene which made me realize the Devotion for the Lord was Hanumaanji meeting Shri Ram after coming back from Lanka- 'Baar baar Prabhu'. I was so Moved while watching it and for the first time Realized the Devotion for Shri Ram in my heart!
- Next was the scene when Bharat meets Kaikeyi after coming back from Kekay desh. I was SO TOUCHED by his Reaction about the 'vanvaas' of Shri Ram and the death of Raja Dashrath! The way Bharatji showed his emotions about Shri Ram, made me 'FEEL the SAME' for Him! I always get emotional while watching that scene, and 'Empathize' with Bharatji in all the following scenes, i.e.- meeting Mata Kaushalya, last rites of Raja Dashrath, his announcement in the 'raajsabha', Chitrakoot sabha and coming back, meeting with Kaikeyi and Mandavi (another fav sc) at Nandigram.
It is only thr' these two characters that I have realized the Love for Shri Ram, in the beginning, so ALL the scenes of Hanumaanji and Bharatji are the MOST favourite scenes of mine!!
Now coming to Shri Ram 😊. The scenes which made me Speechless were the way He meets Dashrath and Kaikeyi and decides to follow the 'unspoken wish' of Dashrath! The way He convinced Mata Kaushalya (Really LOVE that scene- 'itni akasmaat to bijli bhi nahi girti mere Laal!!!! )- I was just stunned to see His reactions, the way He accepted Everything and continued his actions, So Easily!!! 'Mera to chaaro ore se kalyan ho gaya'- this particular dialogue!!! It's just then that I started Respecting and Worshiping Him, for the noble action!
Now, my Favourite Songs from 'Ramayan', it will be a Looong list 😃, still many will be left 😊…In fact, ALL are my favorites, just mentioning a few here (those songs which I repeat at least 5-6 times, each time I listen to them 😃 )-
(Firstly I want to say that I Really LOVE the voice of Satish Dehra, just FEEL the element of 'Devotion' explicitly in all his songs! ⭐️ )
- Vishnu Stuti (the first song which I memorized 😊 from all the song sequences of 'Ramayan')
- 'Chala ek raja'- upto the birth of Shri Ram and the celebration…
- 'Thumaka chalata' + 'Jaago naino ke taare' + 'Aaja aaja re nindiya' + 'Lalit kare navbhor vandana'- all are just JEWELS of 'Ramayan'!!!!
- 'Purushsinha dou veer' + 'Dekhan nagar bhoop sut aaye' + 'Munivar sayan kinhi' (Really Really LOVE this one- RCM Chaupaayis are just Filled with Devotion!)
- Pushp vatika and Swayamvar sequence (so many of RCM choupaayis to quote here 😊…. You all know 😃 … 'Lagan mandap me padharo' is my personal fav, which makes me feel the BLISS each time I listen to it!)
- 'Bhoop biloki jabahi Muni' ('mritak sarir praan jenu dete'- just expresses what is the 'value' of Shri Ram to Dashrath!)
- 'Kabhi kabhi koi swarth hriday me' ( 'issi daah ne Kaikeyi ki bhi sneh aur gyan jalaaye'- the 'Truth' in this statement!)
- Ganga puja by Sita Mata ('Praanaath devar sahit kusal kausala aaya/ Poojihi tab mankaamna, sujasu rahihi jag chaai'- beautiful!)
- 'Ko kahi sakahi' ( 'As teerathpati dekh suhaavaa/ Sukh saagar Raghuvar sukh paava'!!! )
- 'Bharat chala re' along with 'Ganga Teer' (Just FEEL his emotions!) + 'Bharat sam nahi duja koi tyaagi' + 'O Maiya tune'
- 'Ram Lakhan Siya bhramat aranya (filled with the 'Calmness' of the jungle, reminds me of Shivang's detailed post about 'Aranya Kand'- https://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1593534&PID=38240540 , completely agree with it)
- 'Jis kaaran aaye us kaaraj' (for the wonderful lines- 'Udhar Ram kartaavya ki path par badhte jaaye nirantar/ Karmveer ke liye nahi kuchh harsh vishad me antar'!)
- 'Aviral Bhagati maangi var' ('Kaaran binu Raghunath kripaala'!)
- Both songs in the Shabri sc.
- 'Kaandhe par dou'
- Vaali vadh sequence specially 'Janam janam' and 'Ram charan dhridh preet kari, Baali kinha tanu tyag/ Suman maal jimi kanth te, girat na jaane naag'- Truly Overwhelming!!!!)
- The whole sequence of Hanumaanji crossing the sea and meeting Sita Mata + 'Aasish dinhi'+ 'Baar baar Prabhu' ( 'Yehi samvaad jaasu ur aava…' part)
- 'Chaleu Harashi' (again that 'Ehi vidhi karat saprem vichara' part)
- 'Setu bandhan' Song ( all the lines are just Blissful!)
- 'Samajhi prataap Ram kapi kopa' + 'Gadi gayo khambh hamaro'
- Naagpaash bhang by Garudraaj ( 'Naraayan ke darshan honge'+ 'Ka puchhat ho parichay Swaami' )
- Hanumaanji going for Sanjeevani Buti (specially 'Sunat vachan' which I repeat often 😊)
- 'Jo tehi aaj'( Lakshmanji's emotions are so much evident here!)
- 'Dharmamay Rath' (Wonderful Content!!! To be grasped by heart!)
- 'Yehi Raat antim' (because of the 'Truth' in its lyrics)
- 'Suno maatu mai paayo' ( 'Rannjeet ripudal bandhu yudh pasyami Ramamanamayam…')
- 'Agni Pariksha song (So Beautiful! Beyond words!!!)
- 'Ram darbaar hai jag saara'
- 'Sita Ram daras ras barse'
- 'Hum katha sunaate' + 'Purna yahan ke kare sab kaam' + 'Kamalakaant Prabhu' (specially - 'Bhakti bhaav ki aisi dhaara, jo doobe so utre paara')- from 'Uttar Ramayan'.
- Ending track ('Mangal Bhavan'), which makes me emotional every time!
Along with all these, now some more fav scens-
- I just love the Gurukul episodes immensely. The lessons are Deep as well as Enlightening. Have tried to note down the teachings here ( https://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1632957&PID=51740656)
- The whole sequence of last rites of Dashrath which have helped me immensely to understand about the 'transitoriness' of our 'mortal body' (the concept of 'panchtatva'), with it comes also the discussion between Shri Ram and Sugreev about 'Shamshaan Vairaagya' ( after Vaali vadh)- another poignant scene!
- All scenes of Mandodari- I just LOVE this character, her ideals, actions, emotions- love to watch her on screen always!
RSji has made 'Ramayan' a Living Presence in my life, otherwise I never felt any interest to read the orginal epic – 'Ramayan', (before watching it on screen). By his sincere work of RSji has brought the High Ideals of the epic to all the houses of India and abroad!!! Truly an expression of his Intense Devotion for the Lord! 'Ramayan' will always be remembered as a Source to generate Bliss/ Devotion to its audience! Can't ever write enough about it…
Really Happy for this thread! So glad that Janu and Lola came with such a novel idea and all the members of IF as well as the visitors are enjoyng it So much, which is evident from the '3000 Views' we already have for this Thread!!! 😊
I am yet to complete reading of all the prev. pages of this thread. Will do that soon and comeback with my replies 😊.
Jai Shri Ram!

Just now i watched a song in RS' Ramayan - Yahi raat antim, yahi raat bhari - The song is played on all the main characters - (Ravan's state is also shown with a lot compassion/understanding for his state of having lost most of his family members, i guess, Ram(is shown in very human-like way, his distress), Lakhshman, Mandodari, Sita) during the night before the last day of the battle. The Lyrics is so beautiful, my eyes got filled with tears with some indescribable feeling. Its so good.

All the actors and Writers-Directors /all the behind the scenes (i won't call them CVs as now this word sounds a like Gaali) have done a great job. I also think they have humanized Ram in some sense, who is a incarnation of God himself and even Ravan, who is an Asur and has done great wrong, given layers to them.
When i watched Ramayana earlier, i didn't know hindi but still understood the story / happenings overall. I was thinking that was enough. But now after hearing this song and its beautiful lyrics, i feel i have missed a lot. Is there any repeat telecast in some hindi channel?
