@ Shivang - lol I'm becoming too predictable :P Us thread ke saath saath aur bhi bahut kuch pending hai yahaan pe, but semester's gotten off to a crazy start so will work on it during the week of spring break. Or you and Debi di can organize it until then and I'll jump in whenever I'm free.

@ Vis - the names of all playback singers are listed in the end credits, but they don't specify who sang what. Some names I figure out by process of elimination (e.g. Satish Dehra, for whom there's still a 10% chance I'm wrong), and other voices I know because they sing a lot of Hindustani classical, like Shobha Joshi and Haimanti Shukla.

@Visrom, Subhas and all the lovers of Ramayan 😊,

Just wanted to inform you all about the 'Chat Clubs' we used to have during 2008/9/10 on Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan- Shri Krishna' and BRC's 'Mahabharat'. Many discussions about the story/ dialogues/ mssg/ songs/ actors/ direction- can be found by going thr' the individual pages of those CCs. Lyrics of many songs of these three works (some along with their English Translation 😊) and dialogues of many scenes were also posted . You can go thr' the ToC (particularly the 5th post- 'Bhakti Sangeet' 😊) of this page (CC5), it contains the names of the lyrics/ dialogues of all the songs/ scenes posted in CC5 as well as it also includes all the songs/ dialogues posted in the prev CCs:

And now, the links of all the prev CCs:

I didn't follow Sri Krishna of Ramanand Sagar...pata nahin kyon...NOM but I wasn't too fond of the actor who played the older Krishna after watching Nitish Bhardwaj in BRC Mahabharat...he probably lacked that sharp, slightly naughty, intelligent expression.
Ok...let me not deviate from RS Ramayan.
There was the song before the Ram-Ravan fight - Ravan rathi virath Raghuveera, dekhi Vibhishan bhayavu adheera.
I had this in my Hindi text book in high school. All the students in my class used to watch the episode and learn Arun Govil's dialogues iby-heart and everyone scored full marks in this poem. Our Hindi teacher was pleasantly surprised.
I remember we also had one 'Ghan Ghamand Nabh Garjat ghora, Siya heen tarpat mann mora'. This was not sung in the episode, but this was exactly the scene of the song 'Har koi hai yahan bas nithur niyati' from Kishkindha kaand.
We also had Kevat Prasang...the one where the boatman washes Ram's feet to make sure his boat doesn't turn into a woman.
Anything to do with Tulsidas' Ramcharitmanas - our class used to score full marks!😆

^^ How I wish my angrezi school made us do that 😆

Guys, check this out!
It's a documentary on RSji that spans his whole career, nothing we haven't heard before, but jump to about 37 minutes in and pay close attention for some quick "making of shots" from really pivotal scenes! One is RSji instructing Arun, Sunil, and Deepika in a panchvati scene, and another shows him demonstrating the charan paaduka scene to Arun and Sanjay. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xo8mas_ramanand-sagar-documentary_shortfilms

Did they ever release a soundtrack or music anthology for this TV show? It had some really memorable music by Ravindra Jain. If not, what a waste and what a shame! It would have been a cash cow--er, kamadhenu--for them. The Sagars could have made buttloads of cash off CD and cassette sales alone

^^ In fact, there was. It included the songs, dialogues, and even some narration in between. I recently found half of it on smashits: http://ww.smashits.com/ramayan-t-v-serial/songs-9054.html
Their numbering is inconsistent; there's a part 16 that goes upto the early days of Sita, Ram, and Lakshman in exile and then a part 10-1 and 10-2 that end with Bharat in Chitrakoot. I will keep looking around for the rest and keep y'all posted. Wish my family knew about this when it was being sold; they used to painstakingly record our favorite songs from the VHS to audio cassettes into little mytho mixtapes 😆

Thanks for the info. I had no idea this existed. I just wish there was a CD anthology with just the songs--I'd be a lot easier to navigate and find exactly what you're looking for.

Your family sounds awfully cute. Mytho mixtapes--what a wonderful idea! Of course, now you can just make an iTunes playlist. 😉
