SInce this forum lacks activity, I thought this should be fun.
Let's suggest songs for each of the top 8 contestants.

My choices:

Revanth - meri umar ke naujavano
Mohit - jab bhi koi ladki dekhoon Mera dil deewana bole ole ole
Maalavika - Jaadu hai Nasha hai
Khudabaksh - hai agar dushman zamana gham nahin
Rohit - tija Tera rang tha main toh
Shravan - mere saamne wali khidki mein
Hardeep - aaj phir tum pe Pyaar aaya hai
Tajinder - awari

Hi Raina. Interesting choices 😊! Care to elaborate why you chose a particular song for a particuar contestant?

This is my first time commenting here, only just recently got caught up on the show. Will post my choices soon, but they're likely to be all Golden Oldies because I'm a Classics junkie! 😆

I want contestants to be given some yesteryear's tough but melodious songs so that we can see clearly who is really capable and who is not. To show Versatility why just classical singers like shravan and rohit have to prove by singing pop or rock song, others in their comfort zones also should attempt classical and melodies to show their versatility now. I hope I'm making sense here.

these are some songs I like and I thought would be different from what they usually sing but not deviating too much from there genres (except for some).

Strange isn't it? People only complain on Shravan and Rohit singing classical style by ignoring the fact that the others also did stick to their comfort zone for the last three or four weeks. Last three weeks (except the last week) were freestyle rounds in where contestants were allowed to choose the style of their own choice. So, no point in pointing the fingers at the contestants. I am looking forward the forthcoming episodes, which are going to be tough and the genres are going to be decided by the judges. Then we will all come to know who are versatile singers.

Last week was challenging for Rohit, Tajinder, Shravan and Mohit to an extent. I would like to see how everyone sings if they are given classical or semi-classical, or even an old melody that has plenty of variations to tackle with.

I agree - all contestants need to challenged and brought out of their comfort zone. If the judges are going to be deciding genres next week onwards, then it will be fun to see them attempting.

That said, I think when the audience vote begins from next week, its going to be hard on some of the contestants, especially the ones from South India, who historically have always been hard pressed to win over the "junta", because of the language barrier or because they're not flamboyant enough or for whatever reasons. I see Rohit and Shravan having a hard time there.,which is a pity.😕

I would prefer if the judges had the final veto power, else its never a deserving candidate that wins the crown.

Anyway, here are some of my song choices for the contestants 😃. The selections are based on what I've heard of the contestants and the songs I think would sound good in their voices. For a couple of them (Mohit and Khudabaksh), I've chosen songs from a genre that we haven't heard them in so far.

Revant : Tumne mujhe dekha OR Dil lena khel hai dildaar ka

Rohit : Aapke Haseen Rukh pe OR Ye nayan dare dare

Mohit : Mere Deewanepan ki bhi OR Phoolon ke rang se

Shravan : Mann re tu kahe na dheer dhare OR Jaane kya dhoondti rehti hai

Hardeep : Aaj mausam hai bada OR Chalkaye jaam

Tajinder : Ni sa ga ma pa ni OR Ek akela is shahar mein

Khudabaksh: Nakhrewaali OR Jhoom jhoom jhumroo

Malvika: Daiyya ye main kahan OR Kuch dilne kaha

True LizzieBennet! it's pity that some of the contestants lack audience support despite being strongest contenders of the season. But then, we never know...anything can happen as the contest progresses. We'll just have to sit back and watch.

Judges of course have veto power which they can use only once (I'm not sure). They used it in the last junior season to save Moti Khan from elimination (who was a strongest contender, but was about to be eliminated due to lack of audience votes).

Calculating popularity through social media does not always come right which is proven in the last junior season. Nahid had more social media popularity followed by Nityashree. Vaishav had maximum number of facebook likes compared to others in the junior season. Who won at the end was Ananya. She won coz of her hidden voters.

Sob stories increasing number of voters is a long gone theory. I don't think people fall into that trap anymore.

I saw Farah khans instagram, and she's posted a pic of herself ready for one of the galas and mentioned disco special!!
