It's not fair!

Abhijeet Sawant's selection as the Indian representative to the Asian Idol has raked up a lot of controversy. If sources are to be believed, the singer who was the first Indian Idol has been given preferential treatment over the other Indian Idols, Sandeep Acharya and Prashant Tamang.
Our source says, "Sony was supposed to have a competition among the three Indian Idols, Abhijeet Sawant, Sandeep Acharya and Prashant Tamang. Whoever emerged the winner was supposed to represent India at the Asian Idol in Jakarta, Indonesia."
The source adds, "They were each given one female participant for a duet. Needless to say, all the three participants were quite excited about it and begun practising. But, Sony suddenly decided that Abhijeet Sawant would represent India at the Asian Idol. The other two were quite upset with the decision and spoke to the channel about this. But, Sony felt that Abhijeet had a wider mass appeal and hence was an apt choice."
When contacted, Sandeep Acharya said, "We were told by Sony a month ago that there would be a competition amongst the three of us. We were very excited about it and started rehearsing. Sanjeevani, my partner, and I rehearsed three four songs too. Suddenly, we heard that Abhijeet will be representing India at the Asian Idol."
He adds, "I was shocked. I could not believe that after all these preparations and promises; they have taken a biased decision. I was very upset and spoke to the channel too, but they gave us a very lame excuse. They told us that there isn't enough time for a competition, so they chose Abhijeet."
According to Sandeep, he is as talented as Abhijeet. "All three of us are Indian Idols, so we all should get equal treatment. This is unfair," he said.
When asked, Abhijeet said, "I guess, I am too excited with the opportunity of representing my country at the event. As far as how fair the process is, you should ask them. I don't want to talk about it."
Albert Almeida, executive vice president and business head of Sony said, "Yes, there was supposed to be a competition among them. But we did not have much time left for the event. Moreover, our third Indian Idol Prashant Tamang will be quite busy in December with his shows. So, there was no point in having a competition between Sandeep and Abhijeet. We had to take a quick decision, and we chose Abhijeet Sawant."
Isn't it unfair on Prashant and Sandeep? "Well, it's just the first edition of Asian Idol, there will be more seasons. So, we will give them a fair chance definitely," he added.
