Singer Meenal Jain talks about singing for a kids' film and more...
Meenal Jain may have still have a long way to go where her singing career is concerned, but she sure is no leaving no stone unturned to get her talent noticed. This promising singer, who even made it to the top six finalists of the talent show Indian Idol 2, has now gone ahead and sung all the songs for the Hindi version of the latest Barbie film 'Barbie - The Island Princess'.
"This is the first time that a Barbie film has songs in it and I was more than happy to lend my voice to it," enthuses Meenal, who even sang the title track for the film 'Go' and has sung for a fair share of cartoon shows.
Speaking further about the movie, she says, "There is a total of 12 songs and all of them are in Hinglish, a mix of Hindi and English." But she insists that singing in Hinglish didn't really pose a problem.
Meenal has her hands full with stage shows both all over India and abroad. "I have a few shows lined up this Navratri; I'm also working on my second album - the first single should be out by the end of next month," she reveals.
And like most other singers, she, too, is keen on a career in playback singing. "Why not? I'm here to do some really good work," she emphasises.
However, what has put her on the seventh heaven is a compliment from none other than the renowned music director AR Rehman. "I didn't get to meet him; but I know for a fact that he did appreciate my vocal talent on TV in one of his interviews; for me, it was a moment to be treasured," she signs off.
