I dont know about that.... But yeah, SRGMP has one advantage over Indian Idols. Most of the contestants appear to have taken training in classical singing, which reflects in their voices. The lack of training is starkly evident in the voices of some of our contestants.
I do not know if mentors like Bappi Da or Himesh or ID are more talented than Anu Malik/ Udit Narayan/ or Javed Akhthar... I would rank them evenly. In terms of on stage or on screen demeanor, I would rank the judges of II a notch higher than SRGMP. There is no senseless beating the chest comments of own contestants here, there is no unmindful praise of ones own contestants here.
If any contestant has been criticized, there has always been some rationale behind it and no one, except Ankita, has been spared of it. When Emon started over performing, Anu Malik constantly chided him for his over confidence and the junta rallied behind him, but Emon improved. One could notice the difference in his performance. Amit's tendency to forget lyrics was not over looked and he was told about it. Deepali did come in for some criticism, but in the case of Emon, I would say Javed Akhthar was not entirely wrong. Emon was in a great danger of being called a Sonu Clone and therefore stood to loose out on a section of audience votes, who may not necessarily vote for a copy..... His dilbar mere has certainly set all critics to rest, but Javed Saab's comment, if taken in the right perspective was not wholly wrong.
