i do respect Javedji but a thought always hounds me... He is not a trained musician. He is a lyricist knows great deal about prononciation but how much does he really know about sur. Uditji seems to be agreeing with him quite often but Uditji is a great disappointment of II3. He is just no match to Sonuji.

Javedji's opinion is lay man's opinion at best. He does try to be fair and voice his opinion and even dares to lock horns with Anu Malik but when he talks about Sur and Mukhada was falt etc I do not contain giggle. How many falt surs have passed unnoticed from him. He has some few fixed ideas about singing and can not really give any meaningful comments.

I fail to see why people go gaga over his comments. They are medicore at his best. He seems to be acting as a judge in many shows nowadays . Less said about his role in Fame Gurukul the better. He does not know many new popular songs which II3 candidates sing. He just goes by his intuition which any other person can.

He is very balanced and highly respected person and his dance with Ankita was very cute but that does not really make him a great judge.

I think he's a very good judge, he GENERALLY speaks sense........I dunno, wat do others think? Some of Udit's decisions have surprised me, and as 4 Alisha, I really think she hears some1 else when the contestants perform!!!!! 😕 😕

Yeah areed, when he starts arguments about sur..it doesn't make sense because the other two judges are trained singer, surley they know more, his comments on pronunciation are good, but sometimes I feel the other jusges are right and in FG..he always started arguments with Aroona Irani about contestants and who sang good..arwell all 3 judgs play good parts...

Luv ya..

A lyricist does have to havea good ear for the 'sur' coz he has to write songs based on the melody. How can Javedji write songs if he isnt fimilar with the notes tht appear in the song? He has to selects words tht go wtih each bar of musical notes in the song.

True he wont have the kind of ear a sonu Nigam but as a lyricist he does a fair idea of where a person goes off-tune.

Thats why he thought Suhit sang well on Friday. 😕😕
Judges are all biased so even if they have a good understanding of music, it does mean their comments are correct.
JA saab is the most balanced judge from the lot.
I agree, there were times during FG where his judgment was questionable but thats the case with all judges.

I kinda disagree..A great lyicist will definitely know about rhyming, composition but need not know great deal more about sur than avergage person. He will also know if the song is sung with proper intensity and follos the mood of lyrics of the song but then once song is written average person will be able to sense it as well. I think Javedji should have been in as a special guest on special occasions rather than regular judge.

I agree that Javedji is very balanced judge. He speaks sense most of the time. But the point is .. he is no authority on Sur/Singing. He speaks his mind well but his judgement can not be too trusted.

I remember Sunil Shetty for Karunya's round. Sunil is very honest , straight forward person and made no bones in letting know in the beginning as well that he is just a lay person and his comments were really good and quite honest and sincere..(Not usual wow.. stuff)

Paresh rawal gave good, albeit little funny comments on sRGMP.. He used to say .. Maza nahin aaya stuff but was very humble and comments were to the dot..

So you will see that it is not difficult to find judges with balanced look, sincere and talking sense. But regular judges should have a demonstrable authority for the comments to be taken seriously. Javedji sadly does not fill the void adequately.
