The original topic was whether controversies are scripted or real. We all seem to agree from day one that while a few may be scripted, most controversies are real but majorly spiced up by the channel. If we stuck just to this there would hardly be any debate, that's why some of us have evolved to discuss ancilliary issues such as how important the controversies are and whether they harm/benefit the participants unfairly. Aakhir chaar din debate karna to padega.😉

Are we debating on what people like on show, controvarsaries or good stuff ?
are we debating on personalities of contestants ?

or whether controvarsaries good or bad at start or end of the show ?

Now that was never an issue. I understand that after reading that looooooong debate you can get confused. That was really about whether controversies are good at all. Teardrop made the point that controversies dont affect the candidates chances because by the final rounds of the show when people might actually vote against a controversial candidate, there are less controversies anyway. I was making the point that such things actually hurt the non-controversial candidates at the beginning because they get less screen space. Hope that helps.😛

I mean I really got confused about debating topic 😛I don't blame as we have seen most of the time Anu Malik forgets Idol3 is singing show and give comments on other stuff except singing so I understand sometimes we go round round and miss the real point 😛 Even I might have done same and everyone is not Arjun ( If you read mahabharta The great Epic you will know Arju -always 100% focus on target )

Are the controversial scenes shown for Trp purposes or is it just part of reality shows and they happen for real!

Here are few more points I wanna add to my previous points on same subject

1.Controvarsal scenes are shown for TRP purpose but the whole scene is not scripted or its not some fake drama .If you see all controvarsal scenes , they all start like any nautral stuff but after that Channel /creative Team adds all neccessary ingradients to make it spicy and to make it one of the TRP puller element .

I think we all have more or less agreed on this part of the topic right from day one.

2.Now why channel do that I mean why they think it will increase TRP of the show .Just imagine you go for some romantic flick and you see everything is goody goody like guy falls in love with girl, both side parents like each other , they all sing and then they get married ...How it sounds ? Flop movie right ?

Actually sounds more like a Sooraj Barjatya movie, all the conflict in Hum Apke Hain Kaun was due to some heavily sentimental stuff, no controversies. That was a hit movie, by the way.😉

Because there is no conflict , there is no controvarsal character in movie and thats why people are not intrested in watching .Now before you get confused in conflict and controvarsary let me write the point I wanna make here , We all know Indian Idol is singing show but to make it intersting they need controvarsaries and dramas and thats why they always look for oppurtunities to crate controvarsal stuff

This part is what the debate is mostly about right now. Are the controversies absolutely essential for TRPs? And how much are the controversies needed? There ARE other ways to get people interested in the program. Of course the most idealistic idea is to actually stick to the format, i.e. quality singing. But perhaps in this era of competition that is unrealistic. Then one can show facets of the contestants personalities or lives to give a 'human touch'. Add to that just a pinch of controversy and you've got the ideal combination. Too much controversies and too little of the other elements just spoils the show and ultimately kills interest in it.

3. Now how these controvarsal scene start as real and nautral way ..looks at again Richa's case , sony pairs her with Prashant and here she shows her real reaction .Good or bad depends on viewer but Sony gets something and they all set to spice it up.Another example is Judges walking out in reality show ..Because of some reason sometimes Judges show their displeasure and they leave stage now here channel is all set again .They will show flash back and all kinda comments which made Judge to walk out.Isn't it real ?Yes it is but its edited for drama /TRP purpose too.

I would like to add here that some controversies may actually be created by the channel. For instance the channel may try to goad contestants by asking them the same question again and again till they lose their temper and say something wrong which can then be telecast by the channel, without showing the provocation. This seems to have happened in the case of Antara last year, although I am not sure. If such things happen, then such controversies are completely fake. But given human nature, if they just film everyone twelve hours a day, they will probably get enough raw material that they can edit to make a fine controversy anyway, so they probably don't need to do this often.

4.Another angle in showing controvarsary is voting too .Just imagine why people sometimes vote crazily ? Agree their favourate is there but there is one more angle , there is other person whome they don't like at all and they are determind to make fav winner.Just imagine if there are 3 contestant and you like three of them less or more will you vote crazily ? I don't think so bcoz for you any winner amongst three of then is fine .But suppose you hate 1 of them lot what you gonna do ? Yes you will vote lot for other two. Controvarsaries help in TRP as well as Voting .

Yeah controversies garner both votes and TRPs. Both equate to money. I think everyone will agree on this one also.😛
