Anu Malik ji a reminder that I am supporting the idea that singing is not the only important thing for a singer. By the way you said I am a pop singer, but if you have not noticed I have sung many popular hindi songs like Kajra re and Its Rocking.
Well back to the topic. Udit ji I totally agree with u. I have been saying that singing is important and so is personality. Because you have to have the looks and personality to be sucessful in today's industry. If you take acting for example. Actors of today are successful and adorded because of their looks. Actors and Actress like John and Bipasha are liked because of how they look and than their acting. Do you think if they looked bad, would they be accepted in the industry? Or be adored as much as they are today? Same can be said about singers. In olden days only a singers singing ability was judged but now audience wants more. In the article you posted Javed Saab, all the singers were of olden times. Those times when audience only cared about singing and voice quality. Times have changed and today audiences want the stage performance of the singers to be rocking, as they want to be entertained. You have to be confident to be a good singer, because if you are not confident of yourself you will not be able to deliver your best or impress others.
By the way Qazi did not just produce one album and went away. Here are only some of his album's.
2005: "Yeh Pal"
2005: "Karu Kya"
2005: "Hero"
2005: "Meri Mehbooba"
2005: "Meri Chudian"
2005: "Yeh Pal-Remix"
2005: "Madham Si Chandani"
2005: "Kehkashan"
Also Abhijeet Sawant has sung in many movies and even was nominated for MTV youth icon 2006. This proves that singing is not only important, but so is personality as audience looks for a role model in people's talent they like.
