He came! He Sang! He conquered! This young shy lad from Mumbai sang kal ho na ho in the audition round, from there he was qualified for the piano round. He reached the hearts of millions, when he sang 'tadap tadap ke' in the piano round. From a simple "Mahim ka ladka" To India's First "Idol," Abhijeet Sawant has come a long way. This Mumbai boy is a commerce graduate from Chetna College, Bandra. He did his schooling from Raja Shivaji Vidyalay. Abhijeet has got a unique combination of style, golden voice, great performance and 1000 watts smile. His singing reflects his own style.Before participating in 'Indian Idol', Abhijeet use to sing in his uncle's orchestra. The boy use to travel all the way from Mahim To kandivali for taking music lessons.
Abhijeet did not tell his parents that he is participating in Indian Idol until he was qualified for the piano round. His uncle Sanjay Sawant has been his great support in his musical journey. Before "India Idol" happened, Abhijeet was a struggling singer asking for a break but the music directors used to keep on postponing meetings.
But Finally his talent has been recognized by the whole country and that's the reason why today he is our "apna Indian Idol."
