Family: Father,Mother and Younger Sister

Age: 20

He was born in a family of classical singers. He has been training in Carnatic music with his guru and uncle NC Murthy since the age of four. His first cousin Hemachandra also made into top 3 contestants of another music talent hunt show SA RE GA MA PA aired on ZEE TV in 2005.

Karunya cut an album of his own in his childhood called 'Chiru Sarigamalu' which was launched by Chiranjeevi. He later also went on to win 'Paaduta Teeyaga' hosted by SP Balasubrahmanyam, and televised throughout South India on 'Eenadu Television'. He was appreciated highly for his "alabana" in Raag Sivaranjini by SPB. He has also sung at many local stage shows in Hyderabad. In 2005, he has also sung two songs in a telugu movie "Vamsham".
