SONU KAKKAR'S SINGLE IS OUT NOW By Kaydee - Eye TV India Bureau Tete-a-Tete
Excerpts of her interview: How is it that whenever you teamed up with Sandeep that became a hit? Yes, that is true, but I would like to say that Sandeep Chowta is very sensible music director. Before doing any song he works very hard, and that's the reason that every song done by Sandeep touches the heart of the audience and becomes a hit. What's your latest offering all about? This is a single titled, 'Mallika, I hate you.' Sandeep Chowta has composed the album. What's so special in 'Mallika I hate you'? 'Mallika I hate you' is a very different kind of album. It caters to all types of audiences with their different moods. I am sure that no one can eject the album from his or her system without listening the whole album. The entire album is based on the imaginations and dreams. Has it anything to do with Mallika ( Sherawat)? The name doesn't mean anything; instead of Mallika, it could have been any other name. Did you get any formal training in music? No, I haven't had any formal training in music. I simply listen to a lot of different kinds of music, especially Sufi music and do riyaaz for at least two hours every day. Now, I'm trying to raise my riyaaz time to four hours. Are you satisfied with your present status in the industry? I have improved as a singer during the last few years. I learn something every single day. This lends me confidence. What about playback singing? Though my initial dream of being a playback singer has been achieved, yet I have to sing many, many more songs What's your target in life? I wish to be a singer who could perform in any style. Since my single is already out, I feel very happy. Your sister Neha participated in India Idol contest but didn't succeed. What do you want to say about it? Talent hunt shows do not judge anybody's future. I too got disqualified in VIVA band selection. But I never let my dream of becoming a singer down, and today I am a singer. So, these types of talent hunts can polish your talent but cannot predict your future. In what way you would you like to help Neha? She is a very sensitive girl and she doesn't want anyone to talk with anyone regarding her. That's why she participated in Indian Idol show. She wants to make her place on her own - not with Sonu or any one else's recommendation. Your brother has also joined the industry as a writer. How do you feel? Yes, I am very happy that Vipin has joined the industry on his own. I wish Vipin to be known by his writing skill and not because of me. Hasn't the taste of Indian audiences changed now? Yes, you are right. The Indian audience has changed their taste. They love listening to the fast-paced track but they also want the lyrics to be sensible and meaningful. Which songs you liked most to sing? I not only enjoyed but also found close to my heart Sufi music as also that of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's. I liked to sing in album called 'Euphoric Sufis'. I am honored to be on the same CD as Shubha Mudgal and Abida Parveen. What about your playback songs?
