I had attended a concert of Rahul Saxena (a winner of SRGMP Golden voice hunt 2004 & Indian Idol 1 finalist) and fellow contestant Vishal Kothari on Sun 18th June. The concert was held in Fine Arts Society Auditorium, Chembur, Mumbai. I got this opportunity because of Aparna who is also a fan club member on yahoo.
I really njoyed every moment of the show. Rahul began with the song "Jiya dhadak dhadak". He didnt sing it like original one. He put lot many 'harkats' of his own. The song sounded totally different but better than original song. That just proves his mastery in classical music. Then he chose the song "Lagan Lagi" which is Sukhvinder's song. He is expert in singing Sukhvinder's songs. He sang lagan lagi with so much passion that the audience started shouting "ONCE MORE". He displayed his range in that song. Believe me this guy has a potential to give Sukhvinder Singh a run for his money. He continued with all Himesh songs in the 1st session.
In the 2nd session he began with the song which he had sung in Indian Idol audition round a classical number "More saiyan toh hai Pardes". He sang it so well..I was completely mesmerized. He then continued with many songs of Kishore and group songs with Vishal kothari. HE danced, jumped and sang at the same time without getting tired and most importantly without losing a single sur. This itself proves his technical prowess and his command on Sur.
His versatility, his range, his command in classical music will definitely make him one of the best singers in near future. We just have to continue supporting him. All his fans should consider themselves lucky to be fan of such a talented Artist. I consider him one of the best singers in all reality shows SRGM, Meri Aawaz Suno, II, FG which I have seen till date.
I even got an opportunity to meet Rahul back stage because of Aparna. I even had got a snap clicked with him. Rahul is also a wonderful and down to earth human being.
I thank Aparna for providing all Rahul Saxena fans a golden opportunity to see him perform live on stage and also wish Rahul all the best for his future.👏
