My take on top 5

Hi I stick to SRGMP forum mostly but this week i decided to give my impressions of what i think of the II 2 singers since SRGMP has ended

Amey: Quite easily the most qualified of the II singers.
Strengths:
1)Versatility- has attempted the most difficult songs attempted in II so far
2)Sweet Voice
3)Range
Weakness
nothing strikes in particular but yes he does not have a high pitch high scale voice
and voice modulation though good is inferior to karunya

Karunya:
1) clasical training
he has what is called in hindustani classical as "riyaazi gala"
2) voice modulation and breath control
he has better voice control than anybody in II and all of the persons in SRGMP and voice modulation is also fantastic
Weakneses
1) he has a limited range
2) voice is a little gruffy

the other 3 are not upto this level
but still i would like to comment on them

Advantages
1) his biggest advantage is his voice it is a very sweet and clear voice
Disadvantage
1) his lack of classical training or insufficient training is clearly visible
give him a song that has to modulate between high and low notes
( An A R Rehman song for example will expose anuj) but still deserves to be in top 3

Sandeep
i havent seen him singing that much beyond Uditji songs so cant comment but would like to tell one thing
Copying another singer is not that big a problem evn sonu started as a rafi clone
has the potential but hasnt been able to show it yet

Antara
No comments

i completely agree esp on the analysis of amey n karu.....

karu's strength is surely his breath control n high pitch range....

In amey's strength i'd put down---singing in a low scale....coz he pulled off aadat really well n the lyrics were crystal clear in the lower octave
and i'd also put down improvisation----he alwys adds his own bits in2 the song lik how he did in tadap tadap, aadat n tu hi re

Good pointss Lalit, I agree with most of them. Why no comments on Antara? Here's my take on Antara.

Antara's plus point is she has a voice tailor made for playback singing, one of the main reasons why she connects so well with viewers. That's her main strength, her conventional voice. Weaknesses are diction and pronunciation. She needs to improve her song selection too, too many sugary sweet-songs as of late. She should opt for a more classically-oriented song in the next gala, if possible. Antara reminds me a lot of FG's Ruprekha.

yeah i was also wonderin y not antara? mayb u don hav sumthin gud to say so u prefer to say silent? dunno but gud at least by bein diplomatic ur preventin ne fites n defences n attacks etc etc.....i don like anatara much myself among the gals i liked monali n meenal.....n guys amey n karunya as u sed.....nd yeah um sayin it 4 long now anatara needs to prove she can carry a classical based song those r the hard ones so she needs to give a go at that.....no offence to neone.....or antara fans

the reason i dint give any comments on antara is thta i am put off by her constant crying and chote se gaon thing
so my comment would be biased

but i decided to give it anyway
Advantages
1) has a sweet conventional voice
2) if she gets a lucky break could make it like sunidhi chauhan

Disadvantages
1) hard pressed in the classical song genre
that is clearly visible in bairi piya which is semi classical
2) very tiny range of songs

pronunciation and diction are not that big a problem
and i tend to give it very low weightage
bcos in india all singers tend to sing across multiple languages hindi tamil telugu etc and all cant be expected to know all languages
but clearly i am not impressed by her singing quality
